Amy Schumer Is Overexposed in 'Inside Amy Schumer' Season 4 Promo Posted: Amy Schumer has been ubiquitous lately, writing and starring in the hit movie "Trainwreck," collecting an armful of awards for her Comedy Central show "Inside Amy Schumer," hanging out with her new BFF Jennifer Lawrence, and landing a massive book deal. In a word, Schumer's been, well, overexposed, and that's the grim diagnosis the comedian receives in the hilarious new promo for the upcoming fourth season of "Inside Amy Schumer." The clip features Schumer seeking medical attention for the affliction, and her doctor tells her she must cut out all magazine mentions, Instagram photos, late night talk show appearances, and podcast interviews in order to cure herself. But the best treatment for her overexposure? "Do not go back to your basic cable TV show," the doctor warns her. "No can do, doc," Schumer replies. "I've gotta follow my heart, keep exposing myself." We wouldn't have it any other way. Check out the clip above. "Inside Amy Schumer" returns for season four on April 21 on Comedy Central. 'Daredevil' Star Deborah Ann Woll Is a Total Fangirl at Heart Posted: Deborah Ann Woll doesn't just play the most down-to-earth character on "Daredevil" -- she's a bona fide genre-loving fangirl in real life too. As sweet-natured Karen Page, the office assistant at the rising law firm of Nelson & Murdock, Woll gets to act out a different breed of heroics. Rather than swinging down to rain punches onto back-alley bad guys, Karen is a normal, grounded woman who knows injustice when she sees it. She's frequently fighting through her biggest fears to see that the right thing gets done, and things are finally heating up romantically between her and her not-exactly-blind colleague Matt Murdock, who's secretly cleaning up the streets as Daredevil. Off-screen, Woll -- previously best known for her breakout stint as the "baby vamp" Jessica Hamby on HBO's "True Blood" -– connects with the Marvel/Netflix series' passionate fanbase on a personal level. She's a gamer, cosplayer, and deeply devoted admirer of various genre franchises herself, and she understands the fervor followers of her projects feel, as she reveals in a conversation with Moviefone. Moviefone: Karen Page is evolving. Tell me what was exciting for you about seeing what was facing her for Season 2. Deborah Ann Woll: Well, I think she's starting to come into her own. She had a lot to deal with last year. Now, I think she's trying to figure out what she believes. There are these examples in the world of heroes, if you look at Daredevil or even vigilantes like Frank Castle, and heroes like Foggy. She has to sort of decide what her definition of that is and where she fits into that definition. You get to wear regular-person clothes on a series where more and more costumes are starting to become a factor. Is that a happy thing, or are you envious? I don't know! Frankly, Charlie [Cox] says his costume is very comfortable. He actually really likes the Daredevil costume. My feeling is that one thing that's really kind of cool about our show, and I think maybe there's a trend, is that Karen needs to dress and her makeup and her hair needs to be what a young woman would do if she were a secretary in New York and trying to do the things that she does. She has to present a very good face for the clients that come in. She's got to be presentable if they go to court. She needs to be able to be taken seriously standing up to the DA. Makes it a little more challenging for the fans to cosplay Karen, though. Yes. You just have to look like a regular person. Tell me your personal greatest hits for the costumes that you've worn. Axe Cop, hands down! Axe Cop was my favorite look that I ever did, because it totally covered me. You could not tell who I was. I probably look like a 12-year-old boy in a cop outfit. "RiffTrax Mystery Science Theater" is one of my favorite nerdy things that I'm into. I ended up joining their panel and they had me come up dressed in my Axe Cop costume. Then I removed everything and it was Deborah Ann Woll from "True Blood." I just felt like the combination of Axe cop, "True Blood," "Rifftrax" all in one. How frequently have you run into fans that were dressed as a version of you, either from "True Blood" or now from "Daredevil"? I see a lot of Jessicas. Less Karens, but you may be right. Maybe I have seen Karens and I just didn't know it. Also, if you could dress up like a Daredevil or an Elektra or a Punisher, why wouldn't you? So I could see that. I think we can admire Karen for her chutzpah and her brains and not her fashion sense this time around. Since "Daredevil" kind of hit and it was so well-received, tell me what your experience has been like with the specific "Daredevil" and Marvel community? Of course, really totally positive. The funny thing is I haven't really been recognized very much for Karen. I don't know what it is. I wear glasses in my real life. I kind of think maybe when I wear glasses nobody can figure out who I am. I get a lot of the looks of like, "I think I went to high school with her," things like that. They recognize me, but they're trying to figure out who they know who wears glasses but they never quite make it to "Daredevil." Everyone I've met has been really appreciative and happy about it. I think particularly in the comic book genre world, it's been fairly male-dominated over the last few decades. I think a lot of, especially the female fans that I meet, are appreciative that we're doing a very three dimensional, interesting, complex look at a female character in these stories, and that she can be as much of a hero as the boys are. We are in a great time where we're seeing a lot of female heroines -– many drawn from Marvel's rich history. Are you proud to representing the woman who takes action without super powers? Incredibly proud. People ask me a lot if I wish I could do more fighting and stunts. I did a lot of that on "True Blood," so it's not as though I'm thirsting for that. But I also really think that it's unrealistic to believe that Karen could punch a six-foot-three man out. But it means that she has to be three steps ahead of you. She has to be smarter than you. She has to be faster than you, and she has to be gutsier than you. She has to go places that no one else is willing to go. In a way, I like that we're forced to really strengthen those aspects of her character. We can't rely on her getting out of it by just punching her way out. When you get addicted to something, are you a fan for life or do you shuffle around your passions? No, I am a fan for life. I definitely like my little comfort zone things that make me happy, so "Mystery Science Theater" and "RiffTrax" will forever be my biggest thing. Dungeons and Dragons has become a safe haven for me. I'll never stop. I'll probably never stop playing Nancy Drew. I tend to remain very loyal to my fandoms. Last year, this job helped ease the separation anxiety from "True Blood" because you literally went from one to the other. Have you had a chance to reconnect with any of your "True Blood" buddies? Not as much as I would have liked. I think this business is tough in that way. You become so close, and then you scatter to the four corners of the world and start working on other things. Every once in a while, I'll write someone and say hi. Michael McMillian I wrote the other day... I miss Kristin [Bauer Van Straten], I miss Stephen [Moyer], and I miss Ryan [Kwanten]. I saw Rutina [Wesley] in Canada last year. It's fun every once in a while to hear that they booked something. I get to sort of celebrate for them across the ether. Jesse Eisenberg's 'Unqualified Advice' for Fans Is Spot-On, and Hilarious Posted: Jesse Eisenberg is right: "You can't convince cats of anything." The "Batman v Superman" co-star was recently a guest on "The Tonight Show" and took part in the show's "Unqualified Advice" segment. He read off random fan questions -- on cats, butt tattoos, running 5Ks, lactose intolerance, and room sharing -- and offered some damn good advice from backstage.

New 'Legend of Tarzan' Trailer Muscles in More Action, Backstory Posted: There are several reasons to consider watching "The Legend of Tarzan," even beyond Alexander Skarsgard's ripped body, which gets even more attention in this new trailer.

Explosive New 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Trailer Sends Students to War Posted: Jennifer Lawrence's Raven/Mystique has a big role in the new "X-Men: Apocalypse" trailer, just in time for her to get choked by the new mutant/god villain.

Melissa McCarthy Confirms She's Now Too 'Busy' for 'Gilmore Girls' Posted: The window of opportunity for Sookie has closed. For now. Melissa McCarthy said she will not return for Netflix's "Gilmore Girls" revival, although she's glad it's happening. It sounds like, from her perspective anyway, it was just a big misunderstanding.
If they do pull a "Fuller House" and order a second season, maybe McCarthy will return, at least for a cameo. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
7 Stars You (Probably) Forgot Appeared on 'Pee-wee's Playhouse' Posted: "Pee-wee's Playhouse" is one of the wackiest, weirdest, and most creative shows to ever exist in the world of children's television. Its zany cast of characters (puppet and human), led by Paul Reubens as the eccentric grey-suited Pee-Wee, will live on in our hearts and wildest imaginations forever. But did you know the Saturday morning favorite featured some soon-to-be stars? "Pee-wee's Big Holiday" begins streaming on Netflix on March 18. In honor of the Pee-Wee comeback, let's take it back to the '80s and look at 7 familiar faces who started in Puppetland's Playhouse. Cuba Gooding Jr. Drops F-Bomb, Jennifer Garner Shares TMI on 'Fallon' Posted: This is what happens when you refuse to answer a question about how you lost your virginity. Jennifer Garner and Cuba Gooding Jr. were guests last night on "The Tonight Show" and they played a game of "Truth or Door" with Jimmy Fallon. All three chose a "dare door," rather than answer a personal question. Cuba went first, and ended up having to wear a ridiculous cowboy costume. He was also supposed to talk like a cowboy and shout "Yee haw!" whenever anyone said his name. But Cuba decided he'd rather yell "Yippee Ki Yay Motherf--ker!" and got bleeped out. Jimmy told him he couldn't say that, but he kept trying to say it, probably just to irritate Jimmy. Jen was next, and even though we'd love to hear more personal details about her life with Ben Affleck, she also chose door and was given three frozen balloons to hold for the rest of the game. She made sure Jimmy knew how cold they were, too. Jimmy went last and initially picked truth, until he read that he was supposed to tell everyone about the night he lost his virginity. The crowd cheered, but he chickened out and picked door. "When it happens, then I'll have a story." So his dare was to have his opponents paint his face, which turned out pretty funny. Watch the game: On a similarly funny note, Jen overshared about her wardrobe malfunction at the Oscars. Basically, she almost pulled a Kanye due to muscle spasms and forced her best friend to go above and beyond BFF Duty. Jen said she doesn't have a waist anymore, and there was a "very intense" process involved to have her ribs moved to create a waist for her custom-made Versace dress. She said, during the show, her ribs had a "panic attack," like a muscle spasm. She told her friend she had to stand up, but her friend said people would think she was pulling a Kanye, so she had to just deal with it until a commercial break. Later, when she had to pee, she and her friend went into the bathroom and her friend had to hold her dress up. Garner said it was "worse than a toddler in a snowsuit," and she and her friend were in a "very intimate position" to just get the job done. She owes that friend A LOT. Want more stuff like this? 5 Things You Need to Know Before Watching 'Daredevil' Season 2 Posted: As excited as we are for the upcoming release of "Captain America: Civil War," there's another piece of the Marvel Universe dropping much sooner: "Daredevil" Season 2. The second season of Netflix's hit series starts March 18 and it picks up with Matt Murdock and his city confronting an uncertain future -- just as new allies and enemies emerge. Whether you need a quick primer for the new season, or just aren't very familiar with the Daredevil franchise, we're here to help. Here are five key things to know before returning to Hell's Kitchen. 1. There's Chaos In Hell's Kitchen Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) may have toppled Kingpin's (Vincent D'Onofrio) regime at the end of Season 1, but that doesn't mean Hell's Kitchen has necessarily become a safer place. As the second season opens, various criminal organizations are moving in and trying to take advantage of the power vacuum in the city. That means Murdock is busier than ever in both his law career and his side-job as a costumed vigilante. Expect that to put an even greater strain on the now shaky friendship between Matt and his partner, Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson). 2. The Punisher Returns As the second season opens, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has already begun his devastating one-man war on crime. Assuming the show follows the source material, Castle is a decorated war veteran who loses his entire family to gang violence, and then dedicates his life to slaughtering criminals. Daredevil and Punisher have frequently clashed in the comics because of their conflicting views on justice, and the same will hold true for this series. As Castle tells Daredevil in the Season 2 trailer, "You're a half-measure." Lots of shooting and punching will ensue. Get excited, Marvel fans. 3. Elektra Is Gonna Make Sh** Even Harder for Our Hero The last time we saw Elektra in live-action form, she was headlining a movie best left forgotten. Now, Elodie Yung picks up the character's signature sais -- and looks poised to go all stabby this year. Foggy alluded to the rocky history between Matt and "that Greek girl" in Season 1, and now Elektra will be a major presence in Matt's life as this ninja warrior returns to New York. Again, assuming the show follows the comics, expect the two to clash before they discover each other's true identity. 4. There's More Romantic Drama Brewing There's something about a crusading defense attorney/vigilante hero that the ladies just find irresistible. Look for Matt to face plenty of romantic hurdles this season as he grows closer to Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) -- even as ex-girlfriend Elektra re-enters his life. That dilemma will surely complicate his relationship with Foggy, who also pines after Karen. 5. The Hand Is the Real Enemy The Hand is an ancient ninja cult that has been a thorn in Daredevil's side for a long time. Look for these shadowy assassins to become a considerable threat in Season 2. Daredevil clashed with their leader, Nobu (Peter Shinkoda), in the first season, and is now set to fight his soldiers. Given The Hand's penchant for resurrection, Matt may even have a rematch with Nobu himself. Also, look for Season 2 to explore both Elektra and Stick's (Scott Glenn) ties to The Hand. Henry Cavill Has a Message for Skeptics of Clark Kent's Glasses Disguise Posted: It's a bird, it's a plane, it's ... oh, it's just Clark Kent. Not Superman. Not with those glasses! It does seem like a stretch to believe that just putting on a pair of specs would be enough to disguise Superman from his alter ego. It's obviously the same dude. However, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" star Henry Cavill did a little experiment in Times Square in New York, to show that Superman's disguise works just fine on us oblivious humans.
There's more, if you want to dig into theories. Just consider doing a quick sweep of the theater when you go see "Batman v Superman" next week. If there's a low-key guy with glasses sitting near you, he might be important. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
