John Boyega, in Character as Finn, Surprised Sick Children With 'Star Wars' Toys Posted: John Boyega was a force for good in the lives of some sick children last week, when the actor -- in character as his "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" alter ego, Finn -- surprised some tots with toys at a London hospital.
Daniel's mother, Rosalind Bell, wrote on Facebook that Boyega's visit was "amazing," and her son was "totally overwhelmed" by the experience. "I have never seen him so happy," Rosalind said of Daniel. " ... Finn was just amazing wasn't he. He's so kind to give his time to do that." Excuse us, we have something in our eyes... JoJo Is 'The Bachelorette,' Not Caila! Did ABC Recast After Fan Outcry? Posted: UPDATE: Yes, JoJo is the new Bachelorette! Chris Harrison announced the big news during "The Bachelor: After the Final Rose" special. (JoJo's parents were there for the live finale, which was a clue that she had her own good news, even after Ben proposed to Lauren.) JoJo had clearly recovered from her heartbreak, which was taped months ago, saying everything happens for a reason. And now she gets to be the one to hand out roses and break some hearts. Read more about JoJo in her ABC bio. Congrats, girl, and good luck!
Read his full post for more. Did ABC change the pick due to fan outcry? Many viewers made it clear that they didn't want to watch Caila (still another #3 choice for Bachelorette) and it's possible that made a difference. Either way, if Caila was given the impression that she'd be the one and the rug was pulled out from under her, that's harsh. Like, Olivia harsh. Still, if the spoilers play out as billed, JoJo should have the bulk of fan support after her heartbreak, so she's an excellent choice for the next season, which airs after "Dancing With the Stars" this spring. What's New on Netflix, TV, Digital, and DVD/Blu-ray This Week: March 14-20 Posted: At a loss for what to watch this week? From new DVDs and Blu-rays, to what's streaming on Netflix, we've got you covered. New on DVD and Blu-ray "The Big Short" Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Brad Pitt star in this acclaimed financial fraud dramedy, based on Michael Lewis's bestseller. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Editing) and it's out on DVD and Blu-ray on March 15. The Blu-ray combo pack has more than an hour of bonus content, including behind-the-scenes interviews with the filmmakers and author, plus five deleted scenes. Here's a behind-the-scenes clip with Selena Gomez and Anthony Bourdain explaining their roles in the film; this bonus feature is available on the Digital HD and Blu-ray releases: "Brooklyn" Saoirse Ronan earned an Oscar nomination for her lead role as young Irish immigrant Ellis Lacey, who lands in Brooklyn in the 1950s. The charming romance was up for Best Picture, and you can catch it on disc this week. The Blu-ray includes 11 deleted and extended scenes, six featurettes, and commentary by director John Crowley. The DVD has everything but the 11 deleted and extended scenes. "Game of Thrones" Season 5 A week after HBO dropped that amazing Season 6 trailer, it's offering a chance for you to catch up on the previous season at home. The DVD and Blu-ray both include four deleted scenes, 12 audio commentaries with cast and crew, "A Day in the Life," "The Real History Behind Game of Thrones," and "Anatomy of an Episode: Mother's Mercy" (aka the finale). The Blu-ray includes three more features. New Video on Demand, Rental Streaming, and Digital Only "Concussion" In this sports drama based on a true story, Will Smith plays Dr. Bennet Omalu, the Nigerian immigrant and forensic neuropathologist who diagnosed a dangerous new brain disease linked to playing football. The NFL was not pleased, to say the least, but the issue is still a hot topic today. "Concussion" comes out on Digital HD on March 15, with the Blu-ray and DVD to follow on March 29. The digital release includes nine deleted scenes; the featurette "Inside the True Story," where viewers meet the real people who inspired the film; "Crafting Concussion," where cast and filmmakers share a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film; plus two digital-only features. Check out this exclusive clip, with Will Smith talking about "the gift and difficulty" of shooting on location in Pittsburgh, where the events of the film took place: "The Hateful Eight" Quentin Tarantino's latest explosion of cinematic wonder and controversy arrives on Digital March 15, before heading to disc and On Demand March 29. Special features include two featurettes, "Beyond the Eight: A Behind-the-Scenes Look," and "Sam Jackson's Guide to Glorious 70mm." According to TwitchFilm, viewers will get the shorter release version at around 168 minutes, rather than the longer version with the overture and intermission. "Anomalisa" The genius that is Charlie Kaufman returns as writer and co-director of this inventive stop-motion work of art, which was Oscar nominated for Best Animated Feature Film. It's out on Digital March 15, then On Demand March 29, and Blu-ray May 3. David Thewlis voices the lead character, Michael Stone, a husband, father, and noted author, who meets a woman on a business trip (Lisa, voiced by Jennifer Jason Leigh) and gets a glimpse of what he's been missing in his life. The Blu-ray Combo Pack with Digital HD includes an in-depth look at the filmmaking process with Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson. TV Worth Watching "The Americans" (Wednesday on FX at 10 p.m.) The Jennings are back! Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys return as our favorite secret KGB spies in Season 4, which starts March 16. Thirteen more tense, emotional, complex, and challenging episodes are headed our way. Season 3 was just released on DVD last week, so get yourself caught up ASAP. It's so incredibly worth it. "Colony" (Thursday on USA Network at 10 p.m.) Please say you're watching "Colony." Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callis are fantastic as married parents on opposite sides (collaborator vs rebel) of the ongoing battle in near-future L.A., after a mysterious occupation by ... something extraterrestrial. The tense first season ends March 17 with Episode 10, "Gateway." This show has a criminally small viewing base, but at least USA already renewed it for Season 2, so any cliffhangers will be resolved ... hopefully. "How To Get Away With Murder" (Thursday on ABC at 10 p.m.) It's almost time to say goodbye to Season 2 of ABC's twisty legal drama, starring the Emmy Award-winning goddess that is Viola Davis. There will be a Season 3, but until then, catch Episode 15, "Anna Mae," on March 17. New on Netflix "Marvel's Daredevil" Season 2 (Netflix Original) Get ready to meet Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher and Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios when Season 2 readies itself for Netflix streaming on March 18. Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, the blind lawyer-by-day who fights crime at night, and you can check out all the trouble that awaits him in these two trailers: Netflix is releasing five other originals this week, including Season 2 of the British drama "Happy Valley" on March 16, and these four titles on March 18: • "Pee-Wee's Big Holiday" (starring Paul Reubens and Joe Manganiello) • "Jimmy Carr: Funny Business" • "The Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show" Season 2 • "My Beautiful Broken Brain" Here's the trailer for that last title, a documentary following a woman's recovery after suffering a stroke: Want more stuff like this? Ariana Grande Actually Does a Good Jennifer Lawrence Impression Posted: Ariana Grande may not be your favorite celebrity, but she can probably do a damn good impression of your fave. She was the host and musical guest of this past weekend's "Saturday Night Live," and she was surprisingly ... awesome?

Watch Cap and Iron Man's Thumb War at the Kids' Choice Awards Posted: They're just lucky Spider-Man wasn't there -- with his sticky powers, he'd own any game of thumb war. Chris Evans, aka Captain America, and Robert Downey Jr., aka Iron Man, entertained fans this past weekend at the 2016 Kids's Choice Awards. Their movie "Captain America: Civil War" is coming out in May, and it'll probably be up for some KCAs in 2017. For this year's show, they played a little game of thumb war, complete with adorable team thumb caps. Watch it play out in the video below. It's a little bit hard to hear them over the cheering fans, and the "'Civil War' thumb war" ends on an ambiguous note, which isn't really fair. Let's hope the film gives us a more definitive ending. (We know it's meant to be controversial.) Here's the thumb war: And here are the goofballs backstage:
The guys are friends in real life, but they seem to be having a blast playing up the Cap vs. Iron Man feud of the film. Don't forget to re-watch them beat the crap out of each other in the new trailer, which also features the debut of Tom Holland's Spidey. "Civil War" open May 6. Want more stuff like this? 'Prison Break' Revival Updates: Sara Is Back, With (Bad?) Company Posted: Now it's a party! Sarah Wayne Callies is officially reprising her role as Dr. Sara Tancredi in Fox's nine-episode "Prison Break" revival, which is set to start filming in April in Vancouver. You may recall that her character got her head chopped off in Season 3, which seems like a definitive way to die, but not on TV! She returned the next season, and now she'll be back on the hunt for Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), who was also presumed dead the last time we saw him, but "dead" is just a temporary Facebook status on this show. Sara isn't coming back alone, though. According to TVLine, the revival picks up after Michael's (apparent) death, showing Sarah has moved on with her life, raising her and Michael's child with her new husband, who will be played by "Royal Pains" alum Mark Feuerstein. (Prepare to be pushed out of the way, man, one way or another.) When clues appear that Michael might really be alive, Sara teams up with his bro Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) to work out the biggest escape ever. As Fox co-chairman/CEO Dana Walden explained, "The story unravels on an international landscape — it's not a domestic [plot]. We open on a very international contemporary-feeling story." She also told TVLine this revival will "address" the end of the 2009 TV movie "The Final Break." And if you're wondering "What about T-Bag?" Robert Knepper is reportedly in talks to return. There's no set premiere date yet, but at least the wheels are in motion, with most of the original cast ready for one last break. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Henry Cavill Admits Making Movies for Money, Calls Out Disrespectful Fans Posted: Breaking news: Superman isn't always in it "for the craft." Henry Cavill is in promotion mode for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and he shared some interesting details in a couple of new interviews. He's on the new cover of Man of the World, and here's his stand on the "fantastic" money you can make as an actor (via JustJared):
Well, did you call him a "cock" as you read that? Some fans think it's refreshingly honest for him to admit he's in it (at least in part) for the money, since he's probably not alone in that boat. But other fans wish he would close his mouth before he starts to sound like a superficial supervillain. He struck a slightly different tone with the Sunday Times (via People), taking a page from Charlie Hunnam, who recently wrote an open letter to "the ladies of social media" who were cyberbullying his girlfriend. Apparently this is an epidemic for hot male celebrities. Here's his request for civility on the streets:
Don't get Superman's goat! It is pretty disrespectful to shout "Oi, love, fancy a shag?" at anyone, so maybe call out, "Hi, Henry" or something, if you feel compelled to shout at all. Or maybe just yell, "Congrats on all that 'fantastic' money!" Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
