Michael B. Jordan Joins Lupita Nyong'o In 'Black Panther' Posted: 13 May 2016 08:16 PM PDT Update: Less than 24 hours after news hit of Lupita Nyong'o joining Black Panther, now comes news that Michael B. Jordan is also on board the project. Like Nyong'o's, his role isn't being disclosed at this stage, but their report leaves open the door that he could actually be playing a villain. Black Panther will mark Jordan's third movie with director Ryan Coogler. They last teamed on Creed. Previously: If you've seen Captain America: Civil War, then you know why so many people are excited about the prospects for the Black Panther solo movie. Chadwick Boseman delivers an excellent, underplayed performance as T'Challa (aka Black Panther); he may only have a singular motivation in this particular story, yet there are plenty of... The Villain in 'Captain America: Civil War' Almost Looked Completely Different -- Check This Out Posted: 13 May 2016 08:00 PM PDT There are all kinds of reasons why a comic book character's appearance may be different in the movies than on the page. Maybe a signature mask, for instance, is done away with to show the actor's face or to make the audience accept him as a normal guy. In Captain America: Civil War, the villain Baron Zemo (Daniel Bruhl) is without his pinkish head covering, and according to the actor playing him, it's as simple as the version from the comics being only "loosely connected to this character." The costume isn't the only thing changed for the movie version of Helmut Zemo, who made his first appearance in an early issue of The Avengers in 1964. In Civil War he's a Sokovian colonel instead of German (born in the city where the airport fight... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

The Last Horror Blog: The 2016 Summer Horror Movie Guide Posted: 13 May 2016 06:00 PM PDT Summer is right around the corner, and while that usually means a long, hot span of no horror movies in the theater, 2016 is actually shaping up nicely for fans of fright flicks. Buried amongst all the summer blockbusters and big-budget tentpole titles are six movies that will attempt to send a chill down your spine while the thermometer inches toward triple digits. The Darkness Release Date: May 13 Summer blockbuster season starts earlier and earlier each year. The first big titles used to hit on Memorial Day weekend, but as time has passed, early May has officially become the start of the summer movie season. With that in mind, The Darkness just makes the cut for this list. Wolf Creek director Greg McLean helms this feature about a family (headed by Kevin Bacon... A Freaky Look Back at the Entire 'Friday the 13th' Franchise Posted: 13 May 2016 04:30 PM PDT Today is Friday the 13th, but it doesn't have to be unlucky if you are an old-school slasher film fan. Jason Voorhees—the unstoppable killer with a penchant for dispatching teens who engage in premarital sex—has been painting the big screen red since 1980. We learn in the original film that Friday the 13th was also Jason's birthday, so blow out some candles for the big guy and have a Friday the 13th marathon with the 12 films (!) in the frightening franchise. (Note: That marathon is now a lot easier to enjoy thanks to the Blu-ray box set Warner Bros. released containing all 12 movies. Read our review here.) Check out our Friday the 13th YouTube playlist here featuring some of our favorite clips from the series. Friday the 13th: Jason... You May Not Want to Watch This First 'Don't Breathe' Trailer Posted: 13 May 2016 03:00 PM PDT We're going to guess that Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez isn't a huge fan of the first trailer for his new movie, Don't Breathe. When we chatted with him at the film's SXSW premiere earlier this year, he was so happy that festival's audience got to see the movie without even having seen a single picture from it or having even gotten a full synopsis. Having absolutely no clue what's going to happen gives so much more power to the movie's many gnarly punches. Obviously no major studio is going to release a movie without a trailer, though. You have to sell something to general audiences. That said, you can definitely cut a more considerate trailer for Don't Breathe than the one that just hit online. It's not that it spoils the entire movie... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Movie News: DC 'Booster Gold' Movie Confirmed; Watch Ben Affleck in First 'The Accountant' Trailer Posted: 13 May 2016 12:00 PM PDT Booster Gold: Producer Greg Berlanti has confirmed that Booster Gold is under development at Warner Bros. The DC comic book character was first rumored to be heading to the big screen last September. Berlanti says that Zack Stentz, who wrote an episode of TV's The Flash last year, "just got the job, so he's writing the script now. I'd probably direct that, or I'd want to." Berlanti is currently serving as producer for four TV shows based on DC characters: Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl. [THR] Centipede/Missile Command: Arcade games Centipede and Missile Command are on their way to the big screen. A deal has been made between Atari and a production company to produce and finance the films. Both games were extremely popular...
