Gal Gadot Wraps 'Wonder Woman' Filming, Thanks Cast and Crew

Posted:

'Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice'- European Premiere - Red CarpetGal Gadot made her DC universe debut earlier this year in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," and will soon headline her own standalone flick as Wonder Woman. Now, as filming on the latter movie wraps, Gadot is feeling grateful for the incredible journey.

The actress announced on Facebook this week that she had just finished shooting her role in "Wonder Woman," and as she reflected on that milestone, she couldn't help but marvel over everything she's been through since she joined the DC Comics family.

"Today was my last day shooting the solo Wonder Woman movie!" Gadot wrote on Facebook. "It's been such an amazing, exciting, dreamy, happy and fascinating experience I will cherish it forever. Thank you to everyone who was involved, our amazing cast, crew and phenomenal director."

The folks over at Coming Soon suggest that Gadot needed to wrap up her part in "Wonder Woman" in order to begin work on "Justice League: Part One," which is already underway. Additional photography may be needed for "Wonder Woman," but it looks like that will be taken care of without Gadot's involvement.

"Wonder Woman," directed by Patty Jenkins, also stars Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, Connie Nielsen, and Lucy Davis. It hits theaters on June 2, 2017.

Geena Davis Hosts 'A League of Their Own' Reunion at Bentonville Film Festival

Posted:

a league of their own, geena davis, peaches, rockford, reunion, reuniteThe Bentonville Film Festival capped off its second annual event this past weekend with a softball game, featuring many members of a team that filmgoers know well: The Rockford Peaches from "A League of Their Own."

Arkansas Online reported that the Peaches reunion was spearheaded by Geena Davis, who played catcher Dottie Hinson in the 1992 flick about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Davis, who co-founded the film festival in 2015 to highlight female and diverse filmmakers, gathered her former castmates on Sunday at Arkansas's Arvest Ballpark for a spirited game to celebrate the festival's wrap -- and stir up some friendly competition, too.

Aside from Davis, other Peaches teammates in attendance included actresses Patti Pelton (who played Marbelann Wilkenson), Megan Cavanaugh (Marla Hooch), Ann Cusack (Shirley Baker), Tracy Reiner (Betty "Spaghetti" Horn), Anne Ramsay (Helen Haley), and Freddie Simpson (Ellen Sue Gotlander). Davis managed the blue team, while Cavanaugh managed the red team, with the former ultimately routing the latter 20-4.

The event also featured an appearance by Gina "Chirpie" Casey, who according to Akansas Online played in the AAGPBL's minor league in the 1950s. Casey threw out the first pitch, and posed for photos alongside the actresses, who touted her as "an original Peaches player."

'Wolverine 3' Will Be Rated R, Violent, Bold, and 'Like a Western in Its Tone'

Posted:

"Wolverine 3" has officially started filming, and it's going to be one badass mofo.

During press day for "X-Men: Apocalypse" in London, Fox producer Simon Kinberg confirmed that Hugh Jackman's final Wolverine film had started shooting for its 2017 release, adding (via Collider), "It's a very radical, bold, different Wolverine than you've ever seen in any of these movies."

Kinberg was asked about the rumor that (Professor Charles Xavier) was co-starring in the movie, and in his non-answer he teased more details:

"I'm not sure what I'm allowed to say about that. I will agree with you that Patrick Stewart was rumored to be a part of that film. It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. It's violent, it's kind of like a western in its tone. It's just a very cool, different film."

Interesting. It was already leaked but not confirmed, until now, that "Wolverine 3" would follow "Deadpool" with an R rating. He's emphasizing how different it will be, presumably from the past two "Wolverine" films and possibly from past "X-Men" films in general. It sounds like the R may come from violence more than anything. A Western tone, though?

What do you think so far? "Wolverine 3" (which may get a different title in a bit) is being directed by , with Jackman's co-stars including , , , and . It's currently scheduled for release March 3, 2017.

Tom Hanks Has a Hell of a Dilemma in First 'Inferno' Trailer

Posted:

returns as Robert Langdon in "Inferno," the latest Dan Brown novel to be adapted for the big screen. The action-packed first trailer, co-starring , was just released, and it immediately presents an impossible Sophie's Choice:

"There's a switch. If you throw it, half the people on Earth will die. But if you don't, in 100 years, the human race will be extinct."

Hmmm. Maybe aim for a third option there? The story thrusts Langdon -- "humanity's final hope" -- into the world of Dante's hell.

Here's the official synopsis:

"Academy Award winner Ron Howard returns to direct the latest bestseller in Dan Brown's (Da Vinci Code) billion-dollar Robert Langdon series, Inferno, which finds the famous symbologist (again played by Tom Hanks) on a trail of clues tied to the great Dante himself. When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to foil a deadly global plot."

What's New on TV, Netflix Streaming, Digital, and DVD/Blu-ray This Week: May 9-15

Posted:

At a loss for what to watch this week? From new DVDs and Blu-rays, to what's new on Netflix and TV, we've got you covered.

New on DVD and Blu-ray

"Deadpool"
Not every movie -- not even every good movie -- is worth an immediate Blu-ray investment, but you're going to want to clear a sexy spot in your house for Ryan Reynolds's "Deadpool." The top R-rated movie around the world is out on DVD and Blu-ray May 10. We could list the Blu-ray features, but it's much more fun to get them from the Merc with a Mouth himself:

"Regression"
Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke star in this psychological horror film from writer/director
Alejandro Amenabar ("The Others"). The film releases on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD, and On Demand on May 10.

"Where to Invade Next"
Michael Moore's latest incendiary documentary/opinion piece, this time about the American military, comes out on DVD/Blu-ray on May 10.

"Scream: The TV Series"
A viral YouTube video leads to murder and other trouble for the teenagers of Lakewood in this MTV adaptation of the late Wes Craven's film "Scream." Season 1 of the TV series arrives on DVD May 10, which should give you enough time to catch up and prepare for the premiere of Season 2 on May 31. Special features include a gag reel and deleted scenes.

New Video on Demand, Rental Streaming, and Digital Only

"Pride and Prejudice and Zombies"
As the wise Seth Grahame-Smith once wrote, "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains." The Bennett sisters and Mr. Darcy unite to fight a zombie (walker?) outbreak in 19th century England in this film adaptation of the best-selling novel that was itself based on Jane Austen's classic. Lily James leads a stellar cast, including "Game of Thrones" Lannisters Charles Dance and Lena Headey, plus Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Bella Heathcote, Douglas Booth, and Matt Smith. Catch the movie on Digital HD May 10 before the Blu-ray/DVD releases on May 31. Bonus featurettes include "Courtship, Class and Carnage: Meet the Cast" and "From Austen to Zombies: Adapting a Classic." Blu-ray exclusives include deleted scenes, a gag reel, the featurettes "The Badass Bennet Sisters" and "Creating the Unmentionables," and a Mr. Collins Line-o-rama.

Check out this exclusive behind-the-scenes clip with the cast, including Lena Headey admitting she wanted to do this film, in part, because "I've wanted to wear an eyepatch for 20 years":

"Kung Fu Panda 3"
It's panda party time! The "Kung Fu Panda 3: Awesome Edition" arrives on Digital HD on May 13, well ahead of the Blu-ray and DVD releases on June 28. Jack Black returns to voice Po, who reunites with his long-lost father and travels to a secret village meeting a bunch of fun new panda friends and family members. But Po also has to train these newbies into a band of Kung Fu Pandas to battle supernatural villain Kai. Extras include a bunch of fun (and adorable) featurettes, plus deleted scenes.

"I Am Your Father"
May 4th was Star Wars Day, but you can continue the celebration with this documentary
about David Prowse, the actor behind the mask of Darth Vader in the Star Wars saga. The doc is available for download May 10. Check out the trailer:

New on Netflix

"Chelsea" (Netflix Original)
Chelsea Handler's new half-hour Netflix talk show, which should not be confused with her "Chelsea Does..." series, debuts May 11. As Netflix teased, "It's not her first talk show, but it's a first of its kind. Ideas, people, and places that fascinate her, three times a week, all in her unique style." According to ScreenCrush, her guests for the first week's three episodes include Drew Barrymore, Pitbul, U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tony Hale, TEDTalk's Chris Anderson, Amy Dallen, and the cast of "Captain America: Civil War." Here's more from the synopsis: "Join Chelsea as she travels around the world – from Russia, Japan, and Mexico City, across the U.S. and back again to Sony Pictures Studios, where she tapes in front of a LIVE in-studio audience – to explore the subjects that matter most to you."

"Bleeding Heart"
Jessica Biel plays a yoga instructor who tries to protect her estranged sister (Zosia Mamet) from an abusive relatinship in this 2015 drama, available on Netflix May 12. Kate Burton, Edi Gathegi, Joe Anderson, and Harry Hamlin co-star.

"Goosebumps"
Jack Black leads the cast of this 2015 family horror comedy, based on the book series by R.L. Stine, and you can watch it on Netflix starting May 11.

TV Worth Watching

"Quantico" (Sunday on ABC at 10 p.m.)
This is a huge week for season finales, including "Damien," "Grandfathered," "New Girl," "The Grinder," "Underground, "The Big Bang Theory," "Scandal," "2 Broke Girls," "The Vampire Diaries," "Hawaii Five-O," and "Quantico." Very few freshman series have success like Priyanka Chopra's "Quantico," and even though it has slipped in the ratings over the course of Season 1, it is still keeping fans talking, and guessing. The finale, Episode 22 is called "Yes," with this official synopsis from ABC: "It's graduation day for the NATS of Quantico, while, in the future, Alex (Chopra) and her team find themselves head-to-head with the terrorist."

"The Last Man on Earth" (Sunday on FOX at 9:30 p.m.)
Thank Tandy this show is coming back for a third season, 'cause it is just not in front of our half-shaven faces nearly enough. Season 2 of Will Forte's crazy not-so-solo ride through a fairly pleasant apocalypse ends with "30 Years of Science Down the Tubes." According to FOX, in the May 15 finale, "Phil and Mike grow closer than ever and the whole Malibu group gets a big friggin' surprise." Don't kill off Mike, please! Or really anyone!

"The Amazing Race" (Friday on CBS at 8 p.m.)
Season 28, which was cast with Internet stars (please don't do that again, CBS), comes to a close May 13 with the title "The Only First That Matters." Who will win this, Tyler & Korey, Dana & Matt, or Sheri & Cole? (Probably Tyler & Korey but it would be great for underdogs Sheri & Cole to pull out a surprise victory.)

"Inside Amy Schumer" (Thursday on Comedy Central at 10 p.m.)
Not everything this week is about finales. Amy Schumer's fourth season just started April 21, and so far it's as sharp as ever. The May 12 episode is called "Sociopath" and here's what to expect: "Amy plays the saxophone; attempting to buy a shirt; getting elected President of the United States."

Bryan Singer: Dropping Deadpool Into X-Men World Could Be a Disaster

Posted:

The insanely effing popular "Deadpool" movie, starring , is officially part of the "X-Men" universe, so it stands to reason that Deadpool could mix in with the core team in the next set of films. Or would that be like inviting your drunk uncle to the children's party?

, who directed "X-Men: Apocalypse," talked to Variety about the complications of adding Wade Wilson's alter ego to the X-Men universe:

"If you take a character as irreverent and meta as Deadpool and connect him to something as grounded and serious as X-Men, you have to do it carefully and gently. When you drop them all in together it can be a disaster. That has to be done delicately, but there's plenty of room to do it."

True. The tones are very different. Maybe not quite as different as dropping Deadpool into the dark and earnest DC world of Batman and Superman, but in the same ballpark. Professor X does not do fourth-wall breaking or jerking off.
However, there's potential for the X-Men/Deadpool worlds to collide in an "X-Force" movie, and the major players have discussed that. As Collider described it, the comics X-Force team is "essentially a slightly darker, more aggressive version of the X-Men, with members including Deadpool, Colossus, Cyclops, Archangel, Wolverine, and Cable." Producer Simon Kinberg told Collider an "X-Force" movie could even be Rated R, like "Deadpool." So -- when that comes together -- fans will have to see how they balance the tones. It's not quite the same as introducing Deadpool to Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique, but we're ready for more Ryan Reynolds/Hugh Jackman, past Deadpool's debut in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

Meanwhile, "X-Men: Apocalypse" comes out May 27, "Deadpool 2" is in the works (featuring Cable), and the first "Deadpool" comes out on DVD/Blu-ray tomorrow (May 10).

Kit Harington: 'Most Epic' Jon Snow Episode Ahead on 'Game of Thrones' Season 6

Posted:

Now what? "Game of Thrones" isn't entirely about Jon Snow, but Kit Harington confirmed that Season 6 is his character's biggest season to date. Episode 3, "Oathbreaker," ended with Jon quitting his job as Lord Commander and walking out of Castle Black to go ... where?

Obviously, many fans want him to head down to Winterfell, save Rickon Stark and Osha, and hand Ramsay Bolton a fresh can of whoopass. But we'll have to see if that happens, and if he'll run into Sansa Stark, Brienne, and Pod along the way.

Kit Harington told Entertainment Weekly why Jon quit the Night's Watch, and also teased some very exciting Jon stories ahead:

"He's done with it. He's seen the other side, seen what's there, and comes back and realizes he needs to lead his life and get out of there. This place betrayed him, and everything he stood for has changed. Plus, he had to kill a child, Olly, and that's what really does it. He kills an underage kid and he can't see the point in being up there anymore. At the heart of it, he knows by staying at the Wall he can't help the kingdoms and he's probably going to die very quickly if he stays."

In EW's new Jon Snow cover story, they were on set while Kit filmed an epic battle, with Jon swinging his sword and kicking butt. So we know that's ahead, and these shots from the Season 6 trailers suggest some other players in that game:

Get hype! In the issue, there's also this exciting tease, during the Q&A:

EW: How big a season is this for Jon moving forward?

Kit Harington: "It's the biggest season for him so far. There's one episode this season, which is Jon's story, that's the most epic episode we've done."

Do you think "Jon's story" will include this major battle -- the biggest the show has ever staged, according to the showrunners -- and also confirmation about Jon's past? Either way, we're looking forward to this epic episode.

'The Good Wife' Fans React to Series Finale: Satisfying or Slap in the Face?

Posted:

Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) got slapped across the face in the final episode of "The Good Wife" and some fans felt the same way about the finale. However, others thought it was a fitting end to the seven-season saga, since the series started with a slap from Alicia to her husband Peter (Chris Noth), and ended with a slap from Diane (Christine Baranski) to Alicia. You could argue that both slaps were justified, or argue that Alicia deserved better in her own send-off. But this has never been a show for tidy endings or total justice.

Peter got a one-year probation plea deal, so he'll avoid jail, but we didn't see Alicia ride off into the sunset with Jason (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). That storyline was left hanging with a voicemail from Alicia asking him to call her back. (The phones on this show deserve their own Emmys.) Alicia reunited with her lost love Will (Josh Charles) in a fantasy sequence, confessing her love and getting his advice on what she should do next.

In a video interview, "The Good Wife" creators explained their intentions with the finale:

Robert King: "We started with this feeling that it should begin with a slap and end with a slap. This show is about a woman who becomes more and more confident and more and more cunning and excited about her abilities and also about power, so that slap at the end is very similar to the slap at the beginning. We always had this idea of Alicia becoming more and more of something that she was also not liking in her husband. [...] The story of Alicia is a bit of a tragedy."

Michelle King: "We talked about the victim becomes the victimizer. And that's really the circle that we see with Alicia."

Fans had mixed reactions to the finale; over at Entertainment Weekly, their poll "Did Alicia get a proper send-off?" currently has this breakdown, after 11,051 votes:

No: 66%
Yes: 20%
Undecided: 14%

Here are more reactions:

Here are more reactions, from Deadline and Entertainment Weekly comments:

RoadWarrior: "The finale was pitch perfect. A huge thank you to the Kings for 7 amazing seasons (14 in cable years!) Sincerely, A Huge Fan"

Carter: '"I was okay with this finale expect one thing. There was no reason to hurt Diane like she did, and then the slap was so Melrose Place. Why can't you keep the integrity of two strong women who have been through the trenches together? That was a false and bad note to me."

@dvond: "terrible, one of the worst series enders for a very good show"

@GoldCocktail: "I get that this ending will be unsatisfying for a lot of people, but i think it was pretty spot on. Alicia getting smacked in the facing, putting herself together, and moving on is what the show as always been about from the beginning. Great summation of this character (and of life in general.) I dug it."

@sherlock21b: "Best thing about the finale was the return of Will Gardner. Josh Charles made the ep watchable."

@meresger1: "I liked the ending. I can see people are upset she wasn't seen running off with Jason, but I liked it. Alicia started out hanging off the arm of her cheating husband, playing "the good wife". She ends up an independent woman, free to make her own choices, good or bad, without the political sham of her marriage always defining what she does. Plus, Diane slapping her was great! I don't think we were meant to love Alicia. We were meant to see her a flawed character who, while finally freeing herself, had to embrace some of the worst parts of herself along the way, changing into someone perhaps less likable, less ethical, than when she started out. It's not a fairy tale ending."

@Akizme: "It was the PERFECT ending. Alicia leaving a VM to Jason is a direct call back to the one Will once left her, which in turn tells me she won't end up with Jason either - the circle is now complete if you will.
And thus Alicia finally HAS to stand on her own, be her own woman and deal with the ramifications of her decisions: that of betraying Dianne; that of leaving Peter; that of waiting too long to commit to Jason. The way I interpreted Alicia wiping/suppressing her tears+ straightening her jacket is that she is now ready to face the world as herself: no one needs her, and she has no one to look after but herself. It's a bittersweet ending but ultimately a worthy one for a character who started out as "the Good Wife" and ends up as "Alicia", flaws and all."

@GoldScooter: "It sucks when when shows that are briliantly written throughout their run (The Sopranos, Seinfeld and now The Good Wife) end up with very disappoiinting endings."

What did you think of the series finale?

'Game of Thrones' Recap: Snow Watch Ends, Stark Watch Begins in 'Oathbreaker'

Posted:

And now his watch has ended. RIP, Shaggydog.

In "Game of Thrones" Season 6, Episode 3, "Oathbreaker," Jon Snow quit the post he took an oath to keep for life, saying his watch as Lord Commander had ended. Because Jon Snow is dead. So who is he now? It's a loaded question. It's a very important question. And it's a question that only just started to be addressed in this big bad tease of an episode.

Jon kept the job just long enough to see the people who stabbed him to death be hanged to death, with little hope of being resurrected. (Pause for an unpopular opinion: Olly was a traitor for helping to kill Jon, but the wildlings killed his entire family and it's understandable that he felt betrayed by Jon supporting them. Olly, I get you. Everyone else can go ahead and get mad.)

Is Jon Azor Ahai, as Melisandre now hopes/suspects? SPOILER AND SPECULATION-loving book readers thought maybe this would FINALLY be the week where R + L = J was confirmed, but instead it was just teased with a first flashback to the Tower of Joy, where younger Ned Stark, Howland Reed, and friends went to rescue Lyanna Stark. Bran Stark shouted for his father, and it was heard through time. Now that is power. But the confirmation hasn't come yet. So Jon Snow still knows nothing, and the audience can still confirm nothing. (But we know. We know.)

Jon Snow quit his post just in time for Rickon Stark and Osha to reappear for the first time since Season 3. Here's how they looked the last time we saw them:

Here's a dark look at them now:

They -- and poor sweet Shaggydog -- were victims of oathbreakers this week as well, with the Umbers selling out the youngest Stark to (of all the damn people) Ramsay Bolton. So here we go again. In a way, Jon is partly to blame, since Umber was ticked about Jon letting the wildlings go south of The Wall into Umber lands. But hey, now that Jon has time on his hands, maybe he can swing down to Winterfell, connect with his half-sister (OR IS SHE) Sansa Stark and they can save the day. #SnowBowl

Other stuff happened this week, but -- sorry -- nothing terribly important. Gilly and Sam made their first appearance, and Arya Stark is no longer blind, which is good. But that storyline is dragging so much it doesn't really feel like a win, especially when we really just want Arya to jump in on this Winterfell fight in Westeros. Tip: Your real family needs you. You are not No One. And neither is Jon "Snow"...

By the way, fans shouldn't let this Azor Ahai stuff put Daenerys Targaryen in a corner. Dany is still the full-blooded Targaryen who has proven, by fire, that she is a true dragon. She also turned dragon eggs into real dragons; conquered kingdoms; stole an army; freed slaves; and did NOT get herself killed even once, despite many attempts. She should be riding Drogon, the largest dragon, across The Wall when it's time for Dany, Jon, and (Tyrion?) to fulfill the destiny of "A Song of Ice and Fire."

Read on for a recap of Episode 3:

THE MAP: Why did the map show Pyke this week? There were no stories in the Iron Islands.

THE WALL
Davos was the one who asked Melisandre to try and revive Jon Snow, so out of everyone he should be least shocked that it worked. Poor Shireen, though, that no one tried to revive her. Jon is naked as he awakes, which has to be slightly awkward, although if you're back from the dead you probably don't return with much insecurity. Davos asks Jon what he remembers. "They stabbed me. Olly." Put a knife in his heart. "I shouldn't be here." Melisandre wants to know where he went and what he saw after death. "Nothing. There was nothing at all." Well, that's a downer. Mel said the Lord of Light brought him back for a reason. Stannis was not the prince who was promised, but someone has to be.

OK, but does it have to be Jon, does it have to be a dude at all, or could it be Daenerys Targaryen? Has Mel even heard of the dragon queen, 'cause you'd think she'd be all over those signs. Davos thinks it's completely f --king mad that Jon was dead and now he's back. But now he's here and he has to fight for as long as he can. Jon says he doesn't know how. He tried and failed. Davos: "Good. Now go fail again." But no! Don't die again, 'cause you don't want to be the new Beric Dondarrion. Jon walks through the wildlings, who apparently think Jon is some kind of god. Jesus walks. Jon says he's not a god and Tormund drops a classic line: "I know. I saw your pecker. What kind of god would have a pecker that small?" BURN. Edd hugs Jon, says his eyes are still brown, so he's still in there. He's not a White Walker or anything, so that's a start.

At the end of the episode, we return to watch the hangings of the four men who killed Jon. He asks each one for final words. Alliser Thorne is still salty to "Lord Snow," but Olly says nothing. Jon wields the sword himself, to cut the rope that hangs them all at the same time.

Then he takes off his cape. He gives it to Edd. "Wear it. Burn it. Whatever you want. You have Castle Black. My watch has ended." Drop that mic! He walks out.

SAM + GILLY
We finally check in on Sam and Gilly, who are sailing to Oldtown. As you might expect, Sam is not a great sailor and gets seasick in the storm. Sam upchucks, and Gilly says she's excited to see Oldtown. Sam reminds her that The Citadel doesn't allow women, or babies, and there's no one there to help bend the rules. Sam says he's going to take her to his family home in Horn Hill. So we're going to meet the Tarlys! His mom and sister are nice, which is a pretty strong hint that his father and brother are going to be pains in the butt. Gilly isn't happy about this, but oh well.

BRAN'S FLASHBACK
We see a group riding to a tower. There are men in Targaryen armor. Is this Ser Arthur Dayne? Yes. The Sword of the Morning. It's the Tower of Joy flashback, with Bran and the Three-Eyed Raven watching younger Ned, and Meera's father Howland Reed. Team Robert vs. Team Rhaegar. Rhaegar is already dead at this point; the prince asked Dayne to stay there and protect Lyanna. Dayne: "And now it begins." Stark: "No, now it ends." Sadly for us, it only does just begin. We get to see the cool battle, Dayne taking on several fighters with two swords. Bran says Dayne is better than his father, but he knows his father beat him 'cause he's heard the story a thousand times. But we see that Stark was going to die when Howland Reed stabbed Dayne in the back to save Ned, then Ned chopped off Dayne's head. We hear a scream from the tower. Bran wants to follow, even though the Raven says it's time to go, for now. Bran calls "Father!" and Ned turns. He heard? What powers does Ned have, too? The Raven doesn't want Bran to spend too long in the past. "Stay too long where you don't belong and you'll never return." Have you seen the fan theory about Hodor, that he was a warg who stayed too long in a horse? It's crazy, but sounds reasonable, too. You may have seen the Meera theory, too. Was hoping for that to be settled today, but nope. Just a tease. Bran and the Raven argue. Before Bran leaves, he must learn -- everything.

DANY + THE DOTHRAKI
Dany + The Dothraki sounds like a great band name. Just throwing that out there. She is taken to Vaes Dothrak and stripped. People are forever stripping poor Dany. They give her new clothes. They are unimpressed with her story, since they knew it. The lead crone of the dosh khaleen, widow of a great khal herself, tells Dany she was supposed to join them after Drogo died. Apparently Dany is going to be judged by the group to determine whether she gets to stay there. Please just move on from this quickly, it's not terribly exciting.

MEEREEN
Varys fans himself at the foot of the throne, and talks to a woman he summoned. This is the woman who worked with the Sons of the Harpy to have Unsullied killed. She thinks she's there to be tortured. His job is to find the right answers, not the wrong ones, which he does by making people happy. This woman is Valla? He knows who she is and what she's done. Varys does his spider work, trying to win her over/threaten her onto his side. She has a son and he's using that against her. "Children are blameless. I have never hurt them." Hmmm. She did conspire to kill the queen's soldiers, and she knows the punishment for that crime. She says either Varys will kill her or the Sons of the Harpy will. Varys offers a third option: A ship leaving tomorrow for Pentos. She needs to decide now. A new life for her and her son, or... Well played, Varys.

Separately, we see Tyrion sit with Missandei and Grey Worm, who are just passing the time while Varys does his work. Watching witty Tyrion try to have a conversation with dry Grey Worm and earnest Missandei is kind of hilarious. But so much of this episode is feeling like filler. Varys eventually returns, and learns the masters of Astapor, Yunkai, and Volantis are funding the Sons of the Harpy. Missandei says the masters speak only one language, and if they want the masters to hear them they have to speak it back to them. Tyrion wants to have a conversation, sending a message to the masters.

KING'S LANDING
Qyburn is so dang creepy, it's painful to see him with children. They used to work as Varys's "little birds" and he gave them sweets. So now Qyburn is taking them on as his little birds. He wants their whispers. Ser Robert Strong, being called Ser Gregor still, comes down and scares the children. Cersei and Jaime are down there, too, and Jaime wants Qyburn to tell Ser Gregor (not Robert Strong?) to march down and face the Faith. Cersei wants little birds in Dorne, Highgarden, the North, everywhere. She wants to know where everyone who hates the Lannisters might be, and the answer is probably EVERYWHERE.

Meanwhile, at the Small Council meeting, Pycelle is still going on about how much he hates Qyburn, as if he's a hero. Pycelle wants "the beast" destroyed, too, and on that note, the beast (Gregor) and his friends show up. Olenna Tyrell is back (yaasss) reminding Cersei that Margaery is the queen, not Cersei. But basically Cersei, Jaime, and the new Ser Gregor crash the meeting, which is led by Kevan Lannister, the new Hand.

Oh, and here's Tommen doing something. Crown on his head, he visits the High Sparrow and asks when his mother can see her daughter's final resting place. Cersei hasn't fully atoned yet? She has to stand trial so they can learn the full extent of her sins. But Jaime gets a free pass? Pycelle? Everyone but Cersei? Tommen stands up to the High Sparrow, with his army behind him, but then he sends them away. DO something, Tommen. The High Sparrow talks about mothers, on Mother's Day, and says when Cersei speaks of Tommen her mother's love shines, and it's pure, because it doesn't come from this world. Cersei did her walk of atonement to get back to Tommen. High Sparrow claims the gods want Cersei to stand trial. Convenient. He gets Tommen to sit with him for a conversation. Tyrion would be a good match for this guy, but Tommen is not.

BRAAVOS
Arya is back in the House of Black and White, still answering questions like "Who are you?" and who was she before she came here. Who was Arya Stark. She had one sister. And four brothers. Wrong answer. Three brothers. Three bros and a half bro, Jon. The waif wants to know about The Hound. "Also dead." Arya gets her butt kicked. "Arya Stark left him to die. He was on her list." But she had taken him off her list. She did and did not want him to die. "She sounds confused." "Yes, she was." Arya and the Hound were the best GoT buddies. The waif gets the full list. Cersei. Gregor Clegane. Walder Frey. ADD RAMSAY. Is Arya sure she's not forgetting someone. We see Arya start to get better at fighting, and call herself "a girl." Jaqen H'ghar says, if a girl tells him her name, she can get her eyes back. Arya says she has no name. He dips a cup into the water and gives it to Arya. If she is truly No One, she has nothing to fear. Arya gets her sight back. Maisie doesn't have to wear those contacts anymore! But she needs to be someone.

WINTERFELL
The Umbers are a famously loyal house, to the Starks, Ramsay and Karstark note to the visiting Umber. This is all about sons betraying their fathers. Lord Umber said Jon Snow led an army of wildlings past the wall. They are farther north than the other families, so when the wildings cross the wall, they have to fight them first. (Kind of like Olly.) Ramsay tells the new Lord Umber that if he pledges loyalty to Ramsay he'll help them. Umber refuses to kneel and do the tradition. So how can Ramsay trust him? "I've got a gift for you." He brings out two people -- Osha and RICKON! Rickon Stark. But how could they know it's Rickon. Ramsay asks it too. NOOOOOOO. Not Shaggydog! What direwolves are even alive now? Ghost and Nymeria, and Summer. Where is Nymeria?

NEXT WEEK
Episode 4, which airs May 15, is called "Book of the Stranger," and has this synopsis: "Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) strikes a deal. Jorah (Iain Glen) and Daario (Michiel Huisman) undertake a difficult task. Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Cersei (Lena Headey) try to improve their situation." The trailer shows Sansa, Brienne, Theon, Yara, Cersei, Tyrion, Dany, and Jorah knowing where they'd have taken Dany. Don't drag this out like Qarth all over again.
