New 'Game of Thrones' Photos Tease Another Reunion Posted: Everything is coming together this season on "Game of Thrones." The first five seasons cast the characters, particularly the Starks, to the wind, which took them all over Westeros (and Essos). Now, the plotlines are converging, with Sansa and Jon experiencing the first Stark reunion since season 1 last week. More reunions are in the cards, as seen in seven brand-new photos from this Sunday's episode, "The Door." There are already a ton of characters hanging out at Castle Black — Jon, Sansa, Davos, Melisandre, Brienne. And look who else is about to join them: Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish. Littlefinger comes to the North with the knights of the Vale to battle the Boltons. An intense Jon (above) looks like he's planning the recapture of his home, Winterfell. He's supported by half-sister Sansa, who's more than ready to crush her sadistic husband Ramsay. She is determined in the photo below, while Brienne seems dubious. Maybe Tormund is flirting with her again. In other Stark news, Arya is still learning from Jaqen H'ghar in the Hall of Faces, while Bran has a terrifying vision of the Night's King. That amazing final scene from last Sunday's episode left Daenerys in a very good place — with control of the Dothraki. Here, she stands alongside Daario, no doubt plotting how to incorporate the warriors into her vast army. And finally, the episode introduces us to a new character, a red priestess named Kinvara, who has stuff to talk about with Tyrion in Meereen. "Game of Thrones" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO. Stephen Colbert Slams Marvel's 'Sausage Fest' for Lack of Female Leads Posted: Stephen Colbert loved "Captain America: Civil War" as much as the next fan, but he's not giving the Marvel Cinematic Universe a pass on its lack of interest in female characters.
Colbert's reaction: "This is shocking. 'Iron Man 3' had a writer?!" But he joked that it made sense that they had to change the villain for the toys, since, "Girls don't play with dolls." Colbert added, "This is so disappointing. Back in the '80s, we weren't so hung up on the gender of our action figures. I collected Hannah and her Sisters. I mean everyone had to have Meryl Streep from 'Sophie's Choice.' I really struggled with whether to open that one or keep it in the box. It was a real ... quandary." He further joked that Darth Vader was first written as Darlene Vader, "a talented, powerful woman who struggled to balance her imperial ambitions with raising her rebellious twins." plus, "Doctor Doom: Why does he have to be a man? Are you saying a woman can't be a doctor, or be an evil techno-sorcerer? They better fix this in the next 'Fantastic Four' movie, and there better not be another 'Fantastic Four' movie." It does seem strange to change a character's gender out of fear that not enough people will buy the toys, but that's marketing for you. At least Marvel is now committed to giving Black Widow her own solo movie, which would presumably follow Captain Marvel's 2019 solo film, which will be the MCU's first female superhero solo film. Meanwhile, "Wonder Woman" is coming out for DC next year, and there's a Harley Quinn and company film in the works. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. 5 Tips to Liven up Family Movie Night Posted: Family movie night is a staple of bonding time in the modern day household. It's where kids go to learn about classics like "Beauty and the Beast" or the brilliance that is "Finding Nemo" or a classic for the sports-inclined like "The Sandlot." But, let's be real here, sometimes getting together as a family just isn't enough to capture the attention of your kids ... or your partner. You're asking yourself, how can I keep family movie night light and interesting? Well, there are loads of ways to do that and no, we're not talking implementing a "Hunger Games" themed competition with your kids OR inviting Great Aunt Edna. (Seriously, don't do that, she eats ALL the popcorn and leaves nothing for anyone else). Here are some real tips to help keep the fun alive on family movie night. 1. Make It a Movie-Themed Night Spicing up your weekly, monthly, yearly family movie night is as easy as making a little bit of effort in the food and decoration department. Having a "Frozen" viewing party? Make some paper snowflakes with your kids and hang them around the TV and make some snowman cookies in honor of Olaf. If you're going to make it a "Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" theme, don't play any games, just stick to dressing in outrageous outfits like the people of the Capitol or bake bread like Peeta does for Katniss. 2. Create a Movie Wheel Full of Suggestions Do you have trouble trying to figure out exactly WHICH movie you and your family want to watch? Do the kids want to watch "Cars" for the billionth time but as parents you want to introduce them to the brilliance of "The Sound of Music" you watched as a kid? Well, create a chart or if you're especially crafty, make one of those spinning wheels with suggestions from everyone in your family. When family movie night makes its way around, you don't have to worry about fighting over what to watch, you simply spin (or choose one of the options) and voila, your night is sorted. 3. Bring Family Movie Night Outdoors During the summer, or an especially warm night, why not move movie night from the comfort of your couch to some blankets and lawn chairs outside. You can hang up a white sheet on your house or from a tree and set up shop in your yard. Rent, or if budget allows, buy a movie projector for the night. Now you've just got to settle on which movie you'll watch outside. Will it be "The Little Mermaid" or "Toy Story" or, well, anything you can think of. 4. Play a Game the Next Day to Talk About the Movie Want to discuss what happened in the film with your kids? Do you want to emphasize the overarching theme of family love in "Toy Story 3" or talk about how to deal with grief a la "The Lion King" style? Well, create a trivia style game about the movie making sure to bring up the topics you really want to talk about with your kids. This way it's a fun and engaging way to bring up some tough topics with your kids in a way that doesn't make them fall asleep. 5. Create a Challenge to Do With Your Kids Beforehand Speaking of playing games, why not create a challenge for your family to play prior to watching the movie? Create a scavenger hunt to find things around your house centering on the movie of the night. If you're planning to watch "The Lego Movie" then get some Legos and hide them around the house with clues for your kids to find them. If the movie of the night is "The Wizard of Oz" then create a 'Follow the Yellow Brick Road' challenge with the kids to get from one side of the road to the other. This will get everyone into the movie mood before you even press play. Sources This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Robin Wright Went Full Underwood to Get Same Pay as Kevin Spacey on 'House of Cards' Posted: Somewhere, Claire Underwood is approving this message with one of her crafty Mona Lisa smiles. Robin Wright has become a force on "House of Cards," not only sharing the stage with Kevin Spacey (even breaking the fourth wall with him in 2016's recent Season 4) but also acting as an executive producer on the last 13 episodes, and director of seven from the past two seasons. Spacey, who plays President Frank Underwood, is also an executive producer on the show, but he hasn't directed any episodes. This is only relevant because actress Robin Wright just revealed she took a cue from her FLOTUS character and stepped up to demand equal pay for the Netflix series. As the actress told the audience at the Rockefeller Foundation (via Huffington Post), "I was like, 'I want to be paid the same as Kevin.' It was the perfect paradigm. There are very few films or TV shows where the male, the patriarch, and the matriarch are equal. And they are in 'House of Cards.'" She added, "I was looking at the statistics and Claire Underwood's character was more popular than [Frank's] for a period of time. So I capitalized on it. I was like, 'You better pay me or I'm going to go public.'" She smiled. "And they did." According to HuffPost, Spacey was making around $500K per episode before Season 3 debuted in 2014. His pay was said to potentially increase to $1 million, making him one of the highest-paid TV or streaming actors. They noted that, last year, Forbes listed Robin Wright's HoC earnings at $5.5 million, which breaks down to around $420K an episode. Season 4 was a good time for Robin to take a stand, since Claire was a fully equal lead character, as opposed to her more supporting role in the first couple of seasons. Plus, Robin had double duty as director for four 2016 episodes, which may or may not have been a factor in the overall package. Either way, good for her for standing up for her worth, threatening to go public if they said no (SUCH an Underwood move) and then sharing the results with the class. Maybe she'll inspire other leading ladies to do the same. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The War Over 'Ghostbusters' Gets Ugly as New Trailer Drops Posted: Who knew "Ghostbusters" could be so polarizing? It's not breaking news that the upcoming reboot, with new (female) ghostbusters, has upset some fans. Reboots of "classics" always get a "you're ruining my childhood!" backlash, but this one has gotten particularly ugly.
Those are just some of the nasty tweets sent directly to Patton, simply because he called out a critic for announcing his refusal to watch and review the new "Ghostbusters," because that critic really loved the original and thought the trailers looked dumb. Did AVGN also bash, or refuse to see, the sequel to the "timeless" classic original "Ghostbusters"? What other reboots has he non-reviewed, or is this the only one? If he's upset by the "Ghostbusters" title for 2016, what does he think of the new "Magnificent Seven"? Any complaints about remaking that classic? Director Paul Feig responded to the overall backlash in an interview with Monsters magazine (via Collider): "Fellas, we have over 60 million hits. So let's put it in context a little bit. ... All I can ask is, people, either give us a chance, or you don't have to see it. I'm really proud of it. ... I think it's fun. I'm so proud of my cast. I think the cast is so good, and they can stand in the footsteps of who came before, because they're such funny people but they're different. That's all you really want out of a comedy at the end of the day, is something different and new, and to just see great people do it." Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. Maya Rudolph Was 'Thrilled' When She Found Out Her 'Angry Birds' Power Posted: Maya Rudolph is quickly becoming a comedy legend. She played countless roles in her seven years on "Saturday Night Live," made us laugh in "Bridesmaids," and appeared in the funniest "Drunk History" sketch of all time. Now Rudolph is bringing her improv and character actor skills to "The Angry Birds Movie" as Matilda, the birds' anger management coach. In our chat with Rudolph, she told us all about Matilda's secret bird power, why her kids are going to love the movie, and her favorite moments from filming. Moviefone: What made you want to play the role of Matilda? Maya Rudolph: It was two-fold. They told me the cast, so I knew it was going to be great, and it was a lot of people I admire -- some I had actually worked with. Then the part was just so fun. This hippy-dippy, crunchy-but-also-uptight anger-management coach. It's very much in my wheelhouse. I think I've written that character a million times. I don't know if I've actually performed her, but I've certainly written her. You pointed out that the movie has a stellar cast, did you guys get to spend any time together? No time spent together at all. But I think it really helps when the people you know you're doing a scene with in the movie are people whose voices you know really well. Keegan-Michael Key is a perfect example of someone I just think is incredible, but I've never worked with him. But I can imagine what he might bring and you go from there. And then, of course, Jason [Sudeikis]; I know his voice so well. At the point I was brought in, Jason had recorded quite a bit, so that was really helpful. He was not there, but his spirit was. What do you think your kids and kids everywhere are going to love most about this movie? First of all, my kids have played "Angry Birds" and I think to see it fully formed like this is so exciting. They're happy with just the non-verbal Angry Birds. They don't have any idea that they are going to be walking, talking origin story versions of the two-dimensional ones that they know. So they're going to be blown away. But [the movie] is really funny and it's entertaining. How did your background as a character actor prepare you for taking on this role? It really is just a concentrated version of what I started doing -- working with other actors and improvising -- but focusing solely on one element of it. You truly get to be anyone or anything, which is so fun and liberating. I happen to be a character actor who always felt like I wanted to play that person or that person, and I just always assumed I could morph into someone, and I don't know if the audience ever said "You don't look like that person at all." But I just genuinely believed I could play someone if I could find a way to morph into them. But this way, you don't have to put on Spanx or makeup or wigs. You can just be a chicken. What was your favorite moment from filming? When I had to come up with a word that I got to say when I got shot of the slingshot. That was really exciting; it was like a game. Where do you see Matilda after everything has settled down? I feel like she has a great relationship with Red (Sudeikis) by the end, and I feel like it softens her up a little bit, so I'd like to see where that goes. Scramble some eggs. What was your reaction when you found out Matilda's power was to have eggs that exploded out of her butt? I was thrilled, because in playing the game, you know that everyone's got something. And I didn't know what mine was. My kids were like "What do you do?" and I told them "She doesn't really do anything, she just talks to the birds about their anger." So I found out about the egg shooting later in the process, which was very, very exciting. "The Angry Birds Movie" flies into theaters Friday, May 20th. 'Game of Thrones' Fans Are Now (Rightly) Obsessed With Brienne & Tormund Posted: It was the look that launched a thousand memes. "Game of Thrones" Season 6, Episode 4, had several memorable moments, including the reunion of two Stark kids. But it was the first meeting of two characters that really set the Internet ablaze, and it all started when Brienne the Beauty rode to Castle Black, and Tormund Giantsbane -- who often boasted of bedding a she-bear -- got a look at his new crush:
Yeah, baby! At the end of the episode, the erotic tension escalated over dinner, with Tormund bringing his A-game to this flirty look:
Dim the lights. It's on. And the Internet gulped it down like that soup Sansa ever-so-politely complimented. Twitter was created to react to random moments like this, and it did not disappoint. There's already even fan art.

Yes. Do they have a special shipper name yet, like "Caryl" for Carol and Daryl on "The Walking Dead," or are Brienne and Tormund beyond all that? Whatever we call them, their watch has not ended. That shattered the previous record for most Facebook views of a new show during the seven days of upfront week; that record was said to be the 4.1 million for The CW's "Legends of Tomorrow," so ... well one, Milo's butt. Seth Rogen & Rose Byrne Couldn't Stop Laughing While Filming This 'Neighbors 2' Scene Posted: "Neighbors 2" is a comedy, so it's supposed to make the audience laugh out loud. But even the actors couldn't get through the movie without laughing in the middle of a scene... or all of them. Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, and Zac Efron tell us which scene was the hardest to film without breaking character. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Ziva! Michael Weatherly & Cote de Pablo Share 'Big Kiss' After His 'NCIS' Finale Posted: Michael Weatherly's last episode on "NCIS" aired last night, and fans were left with mixed feelings and a lot of questions. What about Ziva? Well, fans could see the actress who played Ziva with the actor who played NCIS Special Agent Tony DiNozzo, but Cote de Pablo had said she would not return to "NCIS," so there were no new scenes for the pair. Also, Israeli officials told Tony that Ziva was dead in an explosion, but he now has the care of their daughter, Tali. (Mind = blown?) The twist gave Tony a reason for resigning his job to take his daughter to Israel for some answers. And the twist kept Ziva in hearts and minds, even without her presence. "Were you and Ziva an item the whole time?" Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) asked DiNozzo. "We had a ... connection," answered DiNozzo, "and obviously a very fond farewell." Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) told DiNozzo, "I know how much Ziva really loved you. I know. She told me."
It would've been nice to hear it from Ziva herself, and many fans have reacted with sadness and frustration that there wasn't a good ending with Ziva, and that she is (apparently) dead. The star himself took to Twitter during and after the airing of the episode, with his former leading lady by his side:
So sweet! Now for the fun part. Weatherly also left a hilarious goodbye message for his fans, so watch that and let him exit to laughter instead of tears: Do you have hope that Ziva is really alive out there, and she and Tony will reunite? Top Comedy Shows to Bring to Your Next Girls' Night Posted: Let's be real here, planning your girls' night can be pretty stressful. We've all been there when you're trying to figure out all the details involved with how the night can go down. Should you stock up on wine, beer, vodka, or all of the above? Should you serve tapas, wings, pizza, or any food available through Postmates? Obviously, a little bit of everything is always a good thing. But, the big question of the night is, of course, what should you and your ladies watch while chatting, drinking, eating, and having the time of your lives? Sometimes you're in the mood for something scary or sad or even romantic, but we all know that most of the time you and your girls want to just sit back and laugh. Thankfully, we live in the golden age of comedy shows starring some fierce females that will have you howling the night away. Combine this with the easy accessibility to streaming TV shows and you have the perfect formula for girls' night! So, here are some shows that will surely have you and your ladies gasping for breath between laughs. 'Broad City' (2014 - ) This show will have you screaming YAAAASSS QWEEN after the first episode. If you haven't started watching the hilarious "Broad City," then you need to start immediately during your girls' night. The easily binge-worthy show, created by Abbi Jacobson & Ilana Glazer, stars the two hilarious comedians and depicts life as a 20-something in New York City. The pair gets into various adventures, usually fueled by their Mary-Jane-loving ways, so you know the show is guaranteed to make you ladies giggle the whole time. 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' (2015 - ) No one here is saying that the show's opening song is the best part of this show, but when you listen to the auto-tuned man singing "FEMALES IS STRONG AS HELL," you'll be hooked. "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" stars the always adorable Ellie Kemper as the excitable, insanely happy, and impossibly optimistic Kimmy who was locked inside a bunker for most of her life. When she moves to New York City, she doesn't let all the worst parts of the good ol' concrete jungle get her down. With incredible supporting performances from Jane Krakowski, in her best "30 Rock" form, and breakout co-star Titus Burgess' rendition of "Peeno Noir" you will binge watch both seasons all night. 'Bob's Burgers' (2011 - ) Sure, "Bob's Burgers" is an animated show, and though it might not be your first thought for girls' night, don't knock it until you try it. The show is consistently hilarious, and the voice actors' lines will have you and your ladies LOL-ing IRL all the time. The malfunctioning dynamic of this family comedy promises to keep you laughing, whether it's Kristen Schaal's scheming Louise, Dan Mintz's always relatable, boy-obsessed Tina, or to Eugene Mirman's Gene. 'Parks and Recreation' (2009 - 2015) Ovaries before brovaries, as Leslie Knope always says. Even if you and your gal-pals have watched every season of "Parks and Recreation," you will still laugh every time Chris Pratt's Andy Dwyer does something stupid or Nick Offerman's Ron Swanson goes on about being a manly man -- this comedy never gets old. Not to mention, the show has been Amy Poehler's best role so far, gave the world the slogan "Treat Yo' Self" thanks to Retta and Aziz Ansari, and shows off Aubrey Plaza's weird personality in the best way ever. This show is the best way to celebrate Galentine's Day, or any regular old girls' night. 'Inside Amy Schumer' (2013 - ) How could anyone put together a list of comedy shows to watch during girls' night without including the raucously entertaining "Inside Amy Schumer." They can't and they won't because Amy Schumer is amazing. The fiercely feminist show highlights teaching guys to emotionally fight like a girl and pretending to tell girls they don't need to wear makeup. You and your ladies will say 'that's so me' all night long. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
