Rory and Logan Renuite on the 'Gilmore Girls' Revival Set

Posted:

There's still no official premiere date for Netflix's upcoming "Gilmore Girls" revival, but fans can tide themselves over with lots of photos from the production, both official stills and behind-the-scenes snaps from cast members. And thanks to the magic of social media, we have our first glimpse at the reunited Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Logan (Matt Czuchry) to obsess over and comb for meaning in the months ahead the of revival's debut.

The photo comes courtesy of actor Tanc Sade, who played Logan's Aussie collage pal Finn in the original series, and who it seems is returning for a pretty substantial role in the revival, if his continued presence on the Stars Hollow set is any indication. (Sade previously shared a snap of himself alongside Bledel and Kelly Bishop way back in March.) In this new image, Sade poses with Bledel and Czuchry, and fans the flames with some speculation over what Rory and Logan's reunion could possibly mean for the former (and potentially current?) couple.

"Will they? Won't they? Hmmm," Sade wrote on Instagram.

That cheeky caption also echoes some cagey words from "Gilmore" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, who has said that Rory is single and dating when the revival picks up. But her three former beaus -- Logan, Jess (Milo Ventimiglia), and Dean (Jared Padalecki) -- will all be back, and Sherman-Palladino has hinted that one of them has a more significant part than the others. With the return of Logan and several of his Life and Death Brigade pals (Sade's Finn among them), it certainly seems that the scales are tipped in Mr. Huntzberger's favor. Guess we'll just have to wait and see (and keep a close eye on Sade's Instagram account in the meantime).

The "Gilmore Girls" revival hits Netflix sometime later this year.

Here's a First Look at the New 'Power Rangers' Suits

Posted:

power rangers, new suits, first look, reboot, costumesWe're still many months away from the release of the "Power Rangers" reboot, but fans of the series now have their first look at what the new Rangers will be wearing when they battle Rita Repulsa.

Entertainment Weekly debuted the image, and it's certainly a striking one: The gang poses in front of a stark, dark background, their helmeted gazes aimed straight at the lens. But what stands out the most is that all of the Rangers are sporting what appear to be glowing orbs in the center of their chests, not unlike a certain Marvel superhero.
Their metallic-looking suits -- so long, spandex -- also evoke Iron Man, though according to director Dean Israelite, designers were hoping to capture a more organic look. "These suits needed to feel like they were catalyzed by these kids and their energy, their spirit," Israelite told EW. "Power Rangers" production designer Andrew Menzies also explained to Entertainment Weekly that the suit is "an alien costume that grows on them, that's not man-made."

The new duds are certainly in keeping with the look the film has previewed so far, like in the first image of Elizabeth Banks in costume as Rita Repulsa. Rita, who on the original '90s TV series had more of an earthy-witch-who's-been-electrocuted look, is in this iteration a sleek, reptilian-like villainess.

In his EW interview, Menzies teased a more mature "Rangers" this time around, and said that these new costumes are a reflection of that. Fans will have to wait to see just how successful that vision turns out to be.

"Power Rangers" is due in theaters on March 24, 2017.

Dakota Johnson Explains Herself in This Exclusive 'A Bigger Splash' Clip

Posted:

'A Bigger Splash' (2016) Explain Yourself
"A Bigger Splash" follows an unlikely foursome -- rockstar Marianne Lane (Tilda Swinton), her boyfriend, Paul (Matthias Schoenaerts), Marianne's ex, Harry (Ralph Fiennes), and Harry's daughter, Penelope (Dakota Johnson) -- who bump into each other while vacationing on a remote Mediterranean island. It's not exactly a smooth reunion, though, especially where the seductive Penelope is concerned.

In this clip, premiering exclusively on Moviefone, Marianne and Harry get reacquainted while Penelope explains to Paul how she came to tag along on Harry's summer vacation (and how she figured out she was his daughter in the first place). Their conversation gets interrupted, though, when they head for dinner at a funky outdoor restaurant alongside a cliff, and the place is absolutely packed.

Naturally, Harry wants to use Marianne's name to get them a reservation (isn't that what all famous musicians do?), though it doesn't seem like the unusually quiet Marianne is in the mood to ask for special treatment. It also probably doesn't help that all the other patrons stop what they're doing and gawk as Marianne's group approaches.

"A Bigger Splash" hits theaters on May 4.

Here's What Is (and Is NOT) Next for Jon Snow on 'Game of Thrones'

Posted:

Nielsens"Game of Thrones" Season 6 viewers may be a little too used to people coming back from the dead at this point. It's like a get out of jail free card. But don't expect Jon Snow to play that card again. If he dies once more, that will be it.

Many fans expected Jon Snow to return after his death in the Season 5 finale, but the big lingering question remains: What happens next? It's not like Jon can go back to being Lord Commander of the Night's Watch after they stabbed him to death. Who is he now, how has he changed, and what will he do next?

Kit Harington isn't going to spell it all out, or spoil anything major before Episode 3 airs, but the actor teased some details on Jon's future, telling Entertainment Weekly there's a very important conversation ahead that sums up Jon's experience:

"There's a brilliant line when Melisandre asks: 'What did you see?' And he says: 'Nothing, there was nothing at all.' That cuts right to our deepest fear, that there's nothing after death. And that's the most important line in the whole season for me. Jon's never been afraid of death, and that's made him a strong and honorable person. He realizes something about his life now: He has to live it, because that's all there is. He's been over the line and there's nothing there. And that changes him. It literally puts the fear of god into him. He's seen oblivion and that's got to change somebody in the most fundamental way there is. He doesn't want to die ever again. But if he does, he doesn't want to be brought back."

It's all or nothing now. No six revivals like Beric Dondarrion, back in Season 3.

And, as EW noted, the idea that Jon saw nothing removes any lingering idea that Jon's consciousness was in Ghost while he died, like he was warg-ing Bran style. But if there's nothing, then where is this power coming from? Is there no Lord of Light/The Seven/The Drowned God/Many-Faced God?

By the way, if you want to see photos from this Sunday's Episode 3, and read more spoilery speculation about what's next, head over here.

Watch George Clooney and Julia Roberts Go B-A-N-A-N-A-S in Carpool Karaoke

Posted:

Have you been waiting your whole life to hear rap/sing, "This sh-t is bananas," then define -- in his own interpretation -- what it means to be a "Hollaback Girl"? Well, you are in luck! Clooney, , Gwen Stefani, and James Corden went completely B-A-N-A-N-A-S in the latest Carpool Karaoke video, ending with a rousing rendition of Queen's "We Are the Champions," despite the song not really being relevant to anyone in the vehicle. It was still awesome.

It was supposed to just be "The Late Late Show" host and Gwen in the car, but James said he was late for work and wanted to use the lane for four or more people, so he called up his friend who had nothing else to do -- and that turned out to be Clooney. Since they needed one more, Clooney convinced his new "Money Monster" co-star (and "Ocean's Eleven" love interest) Julia Roberts to join in.

The newbies were game to sing some Gwen songs, and they were all curious to know the real meaning behind the song "Hollaback Girl" once Gwen teased that she would never tell it. "All I'll say is, 'I won.'"

Watch the video to hear George and Julia share their favorite movie lines, then sing "We Are the Champions" as a group. If you want to skip right to George popping in the car, head to the 6:40 mark:

You know what? They ARE the champions. Well done.

Will Black Widow Get a Solo Film? 'Civil War' Directors Call It a 'No-Brainer'

Posted:

What about Natasha?

Scarlett Johansson introduced Black Widow in "Iron Man 2," and she returned in "The Avengers," "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," "Age of Ultron," and the new film "Captain America: Civil War," opening May 6. Black Widow has become a fan favorite character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but if you check out the busy slate for Phase Three, there are movies for Doctor Strange, Thor, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Captain Marvel, plus another Guardians of the Galaxy Movie and two "Avengers: Infinity War" films. But no Black Widow standalone movie.

Since Robert Downey Jr. just hinted that maybe he'd be willing to do a fourth "Iron Man" movie after all, it seems high time to address the bigger question: When is Black Widow going to get a first movie?

Collider had a Black Widow chat with "Civil War" directors and , who also directed "The Winter Soldier" and will next take on both "Infinity War" films. First, the brothers talked about not having anything lined up beyond "Infinity."

Joe Russo: "It's so hard to say because we're working through 2019, which is a long way from now. So it's very difficult to say what our headspace will be like then and what we'll be interested in, whether we'll still be invigorated to keep working on larger stories, or whether we'll want to do some smaller stories, what the business is going to be."

Anthony: "I will say this: Our experience with Marvel has been amazing and we really do feel like we're in our creative sweet spot there. So it's definitely a place that we'll always think about."

Joe: "One of the great things about Marvel is that they like to marry genre, and who knows where it's going to go from here. You have to keep varying up the storytelling to surprise audiences. I think there are going to be some fun surprises in store over the next few years, so..."

On that note, Collider asked what it will take to get a Black Widow solo film.

Anthony: "It's a no-brainer, right?"

Joe: "I don't think [it'll take] much. I think it's just a function of where on the slate it goes. She's a badass."

If these guys are free after 2019, can't they schedule it for 2019? Would that work for Scarlett, who is the most important player in this question? It seems like a long way away, especially if they do a prequel origin story for Black Widow, but really any time -- and any director -- would be fine. She has earned it.

Here's some fascinating history on the comic book character, from Marvel.com:

Natalia "Natasha" Romanova was apparently orphaned as a child when she was trapped in a burning building during an early attack on Stalingrad by enemy forces. Ivan Petrovitch Bezukhov, a Soviet soldier, found Natasha in the inferno and rescued her. Although Ivan kept a close eye on Natasha as she grew, by the late 1930s she had attracted the attention of Soviet intelligence, which began her training. In 1941, she was almost brainwashed into serving the ninja clan the Hand, but was saved by Ivan, Logan (James Howlett, later Wolverine) and Captain America.

Following World War II, Natasha was recruited to become part of the Black Widow Program, a team of elite female sleeper agents. Among the Widow's instructors was the Winter Soldier, formerly Captain America's sidekick Bucky (James Barnes); Natasha studied as a ballerina to cover for her true occupation. The Soviet state eventually arranged for Natasha to marry Alexi Shostakov, a champion test pilot. After a few years of a happy marriage, the KGB faked Shostakov's death in a rocket test; grief for Shostakov drove Natasha's resolve deeper and she continued her education with the Red Room Academy, finally being appointed the title of the Black Widow.

If they do a Black Widow solo film, should it be an origin story, or go in a different direction?

'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Episode 3 Photos Tease Big Revelations

Posted:

This Sunday, May 8 is Mother's Day, and there's no better way to celebrate than to watch more people fight and die on "Game of Thrones." Season 6, Episode 3 is called "Oathbreaker," and HBO has released several photos to tease the action.

Once again, here's the official synopsis:

"Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) meets her future. Bran meets the past. Tommen confronts the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce). Arya (Maisie Williams) trains to be No One. Varys (Conleth Hill) finds an answer. Ramsay gets a gift."

There are theories about Ramsay Bolton's gift, but he doesn't have his own teaser photo at this point.

HBO's photos show Cersei Lannister, her creepy Dr. Frankenstein Qyburn doing something with children (run, kids!), Dany on the road to Vaes Dothrak, Tyrion Lannister looking pensive, blind Arya Stark training, Bran Stark and the Three-Eyed Raven out in the wild, and Davos Seaworth rocking a classic "holy sh-t!" expression. Someone must've just noticed Jon Snow is up! That is going to be a fun revelation to see play out.

Speaking of Jon Snow ... no, look at the photos first, and then keep reading under the spoiler banner if you want to delve deeper into "Oathbreaker" speculation:

"Game of Thrones" Season 6, Episode 3, "Oathbreaker" airs Sunday, May 8 at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Spoilers and speculation ahead. No promises, since we haven't seen the episode and the books haven't confirmed any of this stuff yet.

That shot of Bran and the Three-Eyed Raven appears to match a scene in the Episode 3 promo, and Season 6 trailers, that should be the flashback we've been waiting for, showing younger Ned Stark, Howland Reed, and friends battling Targaryens on the way to the Tower of Joy in Dorne. That's where Ned's sister Lyanna Stark died, in the books, but not before exacting a promise from her brother. The promise was never revealed, but we may get to see it this Sunday. If so, it's perfect timing for Mother's Day, since it should confirm the fan theory R + L = J, meaning Rhaegar Targaryen + Lyanna Stark = Jon Snow, with the Mad King's heir and Ned's sister as the true parents of Jon Snow. Lyanna wanted Ned to promise to raise Jon as his own son, to protect the boy.

Here's where it gets extra interesting, though. Fans seems to have embraced that particular theory, but are there other secret Targaryens out there? Maybe Tyrion or Meera?

There are fan theories about both, and both seem equally plausible or unlikely. Since Howland Reed was with Ned Stark, the Meera theory suggests that Lyanna gave birth to twins, with Howland raising the girl while Ned raised the boy. The Tyrion theory goes that the Mad King is Tyrion's real father, and Joanna Lannister died giving birth to the bastard Targaryen. Is either theory true? One of them might be, and maybe we'll even get confirmation, since the dragon has three heads and we have Dany, Jon, and space for one more.

When the Avengers Play Musical Beers, Sebastian Stan's Backwash Wins

Posted:

Bucky Backwash FTW! "Captain America: Civil War" is opening tomorrow (May 6) and co-stars Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and Sebastian Stan all joined Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show" to play an aggressive game of Musical Beers.

Maybe Elizabeth and Sebastian just have very low tolerances because, after only one round, they screwed the whole game up. While the music was still playing, Elizabeth got a little too excited, and snatched one of the cups away from Jeremy, who had rested his hand near it while they were going around the table. She lifted it up, but quickly dropped it when she realized the mistake.

But Sebastian followed her lead, instead of the music, and not only grabbed the cup nearest him, he started drinking from it. Since the music was still playing, Jimmy Fallon told Sebastian to spit out what he had just put in his mouth. So he did. And guess what? The music just happened to stop right after that, ensuring that Jimmy would have to drink Sebastian's backwash.

There are probably fans out there who are into Sebastian enough to want to drink his spit from a red Solo cup, but Jimmy is not one of them. He drank it, though, and it turns out that little event foreshadowed what was to come in the tense final round of Jimmy vs. Sebastian.

Watch and see how it all played out:

If only savage Katie Holmes were around to show these fools how to play the game.
