Clint Eastwood to Direct Biopic About Hero Pilot Who Crash Landed a Plane Into the Hudson River

Posted: 02 Jun 2015 08:00 PM PDT

Clint Eastwood may be 85 years old, but he's possibly an even hotter commodity in Hollywood now as a director than he ever was as an actor. That'll happen after you make a massive hit like American Sniper, which surprised everyone when it took down Captain America, the Guardians of the Galaxy and The Hunger Games to become the highest grossing movie at the American box office last year. Now Eastwood is looking to tap into a similar vein with a movie about Captain "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot who saved 155 passengers when he safely crash landed a plane into the Hudson River back in 2009. The movie won't be purely about that flight, though. Instead Todd Komarnicki's script is an adaptation of the Sullenberger biography Highest Duty: My Search for What...

See How Marvel's 'Ant-Man' Is Empowering Teenage Girls

Posted: 02 Jun 2015 06:30 PM PDT

We've been waiting for a female superhero movie, but perhaps this summer's Ant-Man is the better option for empowering young girls. Evangeline Lilly plays a positive role model as Hope Van Dyne, a scientist and businesswoman who works for her father's company, Pym Technologies. Her super power is her mind. And while we can't be sure of how well she's portrayed in the actual movie just yet, we at least know that the actress and the movie are in support of encouraging other women to use their brains, too. In a new video, Lilly introduces a contest called Marvel's Ant-Man Micro-Tech Challenge, which is open only to girls in high school (aged 14 to 18). To enter, they must "design and build a DIY project using at least one inexpensive and readily...

'The Good Dinosaur' Trailer: Pixar's Second Original Movie of 2015 Brings Dinos Back to Life

Posted: 02 Jun 2015 03:40 PM PDT

Pixar has been in sequel mode for a few years now, but they break that habit in a big way this year with two new original movies. The first is Inside Out, which hits theaters on June 19, 2015 and is already being heralded as a true return to form for the beloved animation studio. The second one is The Good Dinosaur, which Disney has been keeping rather close to their chest. Until today. Hitting theaters on November 25, 2015, The Good Dinosaur imagines a world in which those lumbering giants never went extinct and lived long enough to co-exist with man. Given the new lease on life, dinosaurs lived long enough to become articulate and civilized by the time the first humans emerge. One day Arlo the Apatosaurus gets separated from his herd and encounters a feral human...

Posted: 02 Jun 2015 02:00 PM PDT

Update 6/2/15: Black Angel director Roger Christian has revealed he's making a feature length version of the movie. They are raising some funds on IndieGoGo, but apparently it's just the last little bit of funding needed and the movie is otherwise ready to go. So if you are interested in seeing the feature gets made, head here for more information.   When Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back hit theaters in 1980 a very special short film played in front of it in select theaters around the world. This wasn't just a fleeting five minute cartoon or anything like that, either. Black Angel was a robust, lushly photographed 25-minute film commissioned by George Lucas himself with the express purpose of showing audiences something they normally wouldn't...
