How DC Comics Plans to Compete With Marvel Movies

Posted:

Batman v SupermanEverybody in the movie business wants to be like Marvel - especially rival company DC Comics.

The success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a blueprint that franchises from "Transformers" to "Ghostbusters." Hell, even the granddaddy of them all, "Star Wars," has taken a page from their Disney corporate sibling in spinning out a new trilogy and a standalone anthology.

DC Comics, in partnership with Warner Bros., is also creating its own cinematic universe, starting with next year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." That will be followed a few months later by "Suicide Squad." Down the line, there's "Wonder Woman," "Justice League," "The Flash," and "Aquaman."

"We have a great strategy for the DC films, which is to take these beloved characters and put them in the hands of master filmmakers and make sure they all coordinate with each other," Warner Bros. film executive Greg Silverman told The Hollywood Reporter. "You'll see the difference when you see 'Batman v. Superman,' 'Suicide Squad,' 'Justice League' and all the things that we are working on."

Those master filmmakers include David Ayers for "Suicide Squad" and Patty Jenkins for "Wonder Woman." Rumors say that Warner Bros. is hoping Chris and Phil Lord ("The Lego Movie") and "Furious 7" director James Wan for future movies.

Part of what seems to differentiate DC movies from Marvel's is a darker tone, a grittier edge, as Silverman acknowledged. "There is intensity and a seriousness of purpose to some of these characters. The filmmakers who are tackling these properties are making great movies about superheroes; they aren't making superhero movies."

Adam Scott Gets It on in New 'The Overnight' Poster (EXCLUSIVE)

Posted:

"So how does one go about selecting their prosthetic penis? Is it like Build-a-Bear or something?"

That's the type of question "The Overnight," in select theaters June 19, invites one to ask.

The very funny (and surprisingly emotional) Sundance hit -- which stars Adam Scott ("Parks & Rec") and is produced by his wife, Naomi -- centers on Scott's character, Alex, who recently moved from Seattle to Los Angeles with his wife, played by "Orange is the New Black's" Taylor Schilling. The couple accepts a dinner invite from neighbor Kurt, the self-described "mayor" of the neighborhood, played by Jason Schwartzman. Soon, their nice evening escalates to include "swinging," a kinky pool-side chat and full frontal male nudity.

But "Overnight," from writer-director Patrick Brice, is more than just clever dick jokes. It also has a refreshing amount of heart and unflinching honesty as it explores the risk that relationships run of growing cold and how to preserve one's spark before that happens.

In addition to premiering the poster for the film (below), Moviefone recently talked with Scott about making "Overnight", the first feature from the Scott's Gettin' Rad Productions, as well as juggling the film's tonal shifts, its very relatable themes and, of course, the aforementioned stunt junk.Moviefone: As great as the humor is in "Overnight," its thematic aims -- about relationships and the pressures to re-invent ourselves within them -- are just as important. How did you and your wife go about developing the film's story?

Adam Scott: It all started with the script that Patrick wrote. I've been a dad for eight years now, so a lot of the themes -- they really resonated with me. Because, at a certain point -- for good reasons -- you realize who you are, and where you fit in the world. You realize you're not in your 20s or early 30s anymore, when you were sort of navigating the world to find your place in it. But I do believe it's healthy to do once and awhile, and these characters are kind of yearning for that [kind of reinvention] and sometimes they don't even realize it.

Right. And I like how the audience -- we're never ahead of the characters on that learning curve.

Exactly. That's something we set out to do.

Now Mark Duplass brought the script to your company. What was that process like?

Well, the script was ready to go. Mark brought it to Naomi and I, and usually when you read a script -- there's like a ten or twenty percent chance it'll get made. But we really wanted to make it, and get our company's first feature under our belt... I'm really happy that we did it, because I love the movie - and it resonated even more with me as we were making it.

It got a great reaction at Sundance earlier this year. How gratifying was that to see it resonate with audiences as well?

Well, the really gratifying reaction is seeing how much of crowd pleaser it's turned out to be.

Were you expecting that?

No. No, we really didn't know that going in -- and we certainly didn't know it until we showed it to that first audience at Sundance and they had that wonderful reaction. You know, we had that wonderful problem of wanting the audience to "shut up" more than anything [laughs] because, they would be laughing at one joke and there would be laughs covering the next joke that you wanted everyone to hear. But that's just a problem you crave for because you never think it's one you're gonna have. We're hoping that once it hits the public, they'll enjoy it just as much.

One of the scenes that gets a big reaction is your bit of full frontal nudity. It's really unexpected.

Yeah. Yeah, the reactions have been interesting there.

So just how does one go about selecting their prosthetic penis? Is there a catalog? Is it like "Build-a-Bear" or something?

Yeah, it's actually at a store at the Glendale Galleria.

Nice. Do they validate, or...

[Laughs] Yeah, for sure. It's great service. Actually, the four of us -- me, Naomi, Patrick and [producer] Mark Duplass -- we kind of went through, over email, the whole process of choosing just the right penises. At first, it was kind of "giggle-filled" but once we really got down to it, we adopted this very business, workman like attitude toward it. Talking about girth and length -

-- Things like "D2F" ratio --

Right, yeah. But sort of in the coldest, most scientific manner you could.

Other than that, what was the working relationship like making this film with your wife? Did you guys have any challenges keeping a work-life balance?

We kind of agreed that, obviously there are some sensitive scenes in the movie so me and Naomi agreed that -- on days when me and Taylor may share an intimate scene in the movie, Naomi would maybe stay away from set on those days. But while we were shooting, we were having such a good time and getting along so well, it never really came up. It really wasn't that big of a deal, so it was never awkward. It was just fun.

Are they any deleted scenes fans can expect on the Blu-ray?

There wasn't a lot left on the floor. We shot it really quickly -- we shot the whole script, but I think there may be some extended scenes. And some bloopers -- we're working on some stuff -- but in terms of big, missing scenes, there really aren't any.

Was there a particular scene for you, while shooting, when you thought "Wow, we may have a good movie here?"

There's a scene where Taylor and I are out on the patio, after my character has this "spiritual breakthrough" of sorts -- we have this conversation, and it was so great working with Taylor... and I really felt like it was one of those moments you get once and awhile when you're working with someone so talented you just forget that you're acting. It doesn't happen all the time.

And it's not a huge scene, but a very important moment in the movie. And I just sort of thought this could be something special.

"The Overnight" hits theaters June 19.

'Spy': 5 Reasons Why You Should See Melissa McCarthy's New Movie

Posted:

The last time Melissa McCarthy headlined a big-screen comedy it was "Tammy", and... *rocks back and forth under the shower*

Thankfully, "Spy" marks a return to form for the actor, who reunites with her "Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig to deliver a very funny, very inventive spoof on the spy genre.

McCarthy stars as Susan Cooper who, despite being scary-capable as a CIA field operative, spends her time parked at a desk, calling the plays for super agent Bradley Fine (Jude Law). He gets all the glory and she gets all the, well, not that. But when Fine is seemingly murdered in cold blood by the big-haired villainess Rayna Boyanov (Rose Byrne), Cooper -- armed with increasingly bad (and hilarious) false identities -- is sent out into the field to stop Boyanov and save the world.

Still on the fence? Here are 5 reasons why you need to see "Spy" at least twice this weekend.

1. Jason Statham Steals the Show
The "Furious 7" villain skewers his perfectly-stubbled action hero persona to great effect in the role of Rick Ford, a self-proclaimed badass who rattles off a CV of impossible mission feats ("I once drove a car off a freeway, on top of a train, while I was on fire. Not the car -- I was on fire!") but shows up only to make a mess. Ford's an average agent at best, who obliviously overcommits to his own manly myth, Statham is so surprisingly good with the character, that the role all but guarantees him a second career playing straight-man in future action comedies.

2. The "Face/Off" Machine Gag
Early on, Ford's solution to stopping Boyanov/avenging Fine involves the machine last seen in the 1997 Nic Cage and John Travolta guilty pleasure. Ford insists that the CIA has the "Face/Off" Machine somewhere and has been holding out on him and now I can't stop snorting/laughing.

3. Susan Cooper's Identities
After a rocky first act, "Spy" really kicks in once Cooper is put in the field. Instead of giving her a super-cool or suave cover story, Feig and co-writer Katie Dippold wisely pile on one ridiculous fake identity after another. McCarthy is at her best when first coming to terms with these IDs, which her character is sometimes forced to change the details of on the fly to accomplish the mission. These moments give McCarthy some of her best scenes, and the filmmakers use them to double-down on their commitment to successfully outdoing what came before.

4. Any Scene With Rose Byrne and McCarthy
To get close to Byrne's villain, McCarthy must improv an identity of her own, that of a snarky, "don't give a f!@#" accomplished bodyguard. And the back-half of the film gets the most mileage with their pairing, featuring the two trading snarky insults and furthering a running gag about Byrne's elaborate mane of hair. Byrne plays it straight and bitchy, and McCarthy gives her no quarter -- the only problem with their scenes is that you wish there was more of them.

5. That Ending (SPOILERS!)
Don't read past this point of you don't want to know how the movie ends. Seriously.

Still here? Okay, but you've been warned.

Cooper discovers that Fine is alive, but once again facing down the barrel of a gun. To his surprise, she confesses her love for the guy to save his life. And not in a cheesy, drawn out way -- but with a surprising amount of emotional honesty.

When Cooper saves the day, the movie paves the runway for a big "embrace and kiss" moment when Fine finally confronts Coop about her feelings. Instead, the script wisely subverts that cliche for a much more earned beat. Coop isn't a character who needs a romance with a man to make her life better as a woman. By the end of the film, she accepts who she is and what she can do -- often being much better than her male peers at doing it.

Any R-rated summer comedy that ends on such a refreshing note deserves your box office dollar.

Katniss Is Ready to Fight in First Image From 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2'

Posted:

Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2In "Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1," Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) joined the fight against President Snow. Now, in "Part 2," she's ready to take the battle to the Capitol itself.

Lawrence shared a first look photo from "Mockingjay - Part 2" on Facebook, and it shows Katniss armed and armored alongside Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Messalla (Evan Ross). They're kneeling amidst rubble in a war zone, and appear to be scouting or waiting to pounce on the enemy.

Lawrence included a very interesting caption with the photo: "6.9.15 #MockingjayPart2 #Unite." What's going to happen on June 9? Possibly, that's when the first trailer for the movie will be released. We'll be keeping an eye out for that.

"Mockingjay - Part 2" concludes the "Hunger Games" saga. As Katniss and crew make their way into the Capitol to assassinate President Snow, she'll face dangerous foes and difficult decisions along the way. The movie opens in theaters November 20.

Will the Boba Fett 'Star Wars' Movie Also Feature Han Solo?

Posted:

Han Solo Star WarsThe "Star Wars" rumor mill is churning with a tantalizing new claim: that Han Solo will be a big part of the standalone anthology movie about Boba Fett.

As reported last month, the second of the upcoming "Star Wars" standalone films will focus on the origins of Boba Fett. Now comes word, courtesy of Schmoes Know, that the movie will also feature Han Solo, as well as various Han associates like Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian.

And a source tells the site that Disney/Lucasfilm is eyeing Jon Favreau and Matthew Vaughn to take over the director's chair now that Josh Trank has left the project.

The film is set between the events of "Episode III" and "Episode IV," and if the rumor is true, would fill in the history between Boba Fett and Han Solo that was hinted at in the original trilogy.

Schmoes Know points out that the first anthology film, "Rogue One," carries out the military/war theme of "Star Wars," and that this second one would highlight the Western aspects of the franchise. The site then speculates that the third anthology movie would focus on mystical themes - possibly a Yoda origin story.

Of course, this is all rumor and hearsay so we're seasoning this with a whole lotta salt!

Disney Will Now Do a Live-Action 'Fantasia' ... Sort Of

Posted:

You're next, "Fantasia"! Part of you is next anyway. There's officially no end to the Disney live-action adaptations. Like brooms with buckets of water, they just keep coming. But never mind those brooms because that's not the part of "Fantasia" that Disney is taking on next.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is skipping "Sorcerer's Apprentice" -- Mickey and the brooms -- and basing a script on the "Night on Bald Mountain" section of the 1940 classic. That's the dark, haunting, glorious segment focused on a winged demon-like creature who raised spirits from the dead. Here's a refresher:

Classic. Not sure how they're going to turn that into a live-action movie, but sources told THR it'll be similar to the Angelina Jolie "Maleficent" adaptation. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless are writing the script and producing the movie, which is in early development.

Are you curious to see how this turns out? Could be awesome. Could be awful. Could just get more people interested in re-watching the original "Fantasia."

Watch the Spectacular 'America's Got Talent' Routine That Got Howard Stern Buzzing

Posted:

"America's Got Talent" Season 10 just premiered last week and saw its second round of impressive auditions on June 2. There's a thing called the Golden Buzzer that the judges can use to send acts straight to the live shows. This week, judge Howard Stern -- who is not always that easy to impress -- was so wowed by a dance duo called Freckled Sky that he hit the buzzer for them.

The act combined lighting, movement, and water to put on a show that Howard called "spectacular." Before Freckled Sky performed, Howard noted that the judges were looking for something extra special for the 10th anniversary season. Watch the magic happen in this 6 minute video:

You can hear Howard's "Wow! Oh wow!" comments during the performance. When it was over, all four judges gave standing ovations. "That's the kind of thing I'm looking for," Howard said, applauding the routine's originality and creative vision. He added he was "so moved" by the piece that he decided to use his Golden Buzzer option.

Would you have done the same? And do you think the Freckled Sky dancers (and their choreographer) are contenders for the AGT win?

'Game of Thrones' Ratings Bounce Back in a Big Way for 'Hardhome'

Posted:

Jon Snow knows everything about high ratings. The May 31 "Game of Thrones" Season 5, Episode 8, "Hardhome," rebounded from last week's lowest-of-the-season drop to the biggest audience since the premiere. They don't call it the Night's Watch for nuthin!

"Hardhome," was the best episode of the season so far, so it's good that plenty of people showed up for it. 'Cause you don't know ahead of time what's going to be good and what's going to be (literal) torture.

Episode 7's "The Gift" ratings dipped to the lowest of the season, and everyone had an opinion on why. It was because of the Memorial Day holiday. It was because of the Sansa Stark storyline backlash. It was because of all the changes from the book. It was because the show is boring this season. It was because Rickon has been gone so long. (OK, no one said that last one. But seriously. Will we ever see that kid again?)

As we noted last week, GoT dropped to 5.4 million viewers with a 2.5 rating in the 18-49 demo, down from the previous week's 6.24 million and 3.1 rating. Well, guess what? According to TV by the Numbers, the combined powers of Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, and that BAMF Night's King -- aka the "Come At Me, Crow" White Walker -- gave "Hardhome" a solid 7 million viewers with a 3.4 rating.
That's the most overall viewers since the Season 5 premiere's 8 million. Everything else has been just under 7 million, except for last week's dip below 6 million. But not only are the people who left after Episode 6's unpopular "Unbowed, Unbent, Unwatchable" back to see what's next, they brought friends.

So last week must've been at least partially a holiday blip, and buzz for the unexpected Tyrion/Dany meeting probably brought new people to "Hardhome." Come for the Danyrion alliance, stay for the epic walking dead battle. It's hard to imagine the ratings will drop after "Hardhome," so expect beast numbers for "The Dance of Dragons" this Sunday, June 7 and the finale, "Mother's Mercy," on June 14.

Are you surprised to see the ratings jump in a big way this week or does that just make sense?

'Prison Break' May Get the '24' Treatment in TV Series Revival

Posted:

Not sure how they'd pull this one off, but hey -- that's always been the "Mission: Impossible" nature of "Prison Break." The Fox TV show ran for four seasons, from 2005 to 2009, and ended in a way that might suggest it would be hard to revive. But hide that shiv for now, 'cause TVLine says Fox is developing a limited-series revival of the series that would re-team stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell. They said if this actually happens, it would be something like "24: Live Another Day" in that it would include about a dozen episodes and featured a closed, standalone storyline.

Wentworth talked to E! News about the idea back in January, saying Fox "seemed to think there was something there." He continued on the idea of going back to tell unseen stories:

To go back and do something like we did at the end of season four, where there were those two standalone episodes were Sara was in trouble; it was like a hidden chapter, we didn't know this, but we're going to share this with you, wouldn't it be cool to go back and layer one of those things in. Like another standalone chapter, this is what you didn't see before. Or a where are they now, it's five years later, limited series kind of thing. I think that'd be really cool."

The five years later part may be tough for ... certain characters, but they could plot twist their way out of it or give an alternate ending or something better than those ideas. What do you think of this limited series idea -- good plan or better to let a good show rest in peace?

Paul Dano Gained 35 Pounds to Play Brian Wilson, Felt 'Sexy' When 'Chubby'

Posted:

'Jimmy Kimmel Live!': Paul Dano Gained 35 Pounds to Play Brian Wilson
Paul Dano stars as the young Brian Wilson (with John Cusack as the older version) in the new movie "Love & Mercy," which comes out this Friday, June 5. Paul was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last night, talking about the Beach Boys and the weight he gained for the movie. At first, Paul said, he gained 35 pounds and, when he showed up to the costume fitting, the director said, "Whoa." That was a little bit too much weight to gain -- and that's the "before" photo you see above, which was taken about a year before the "after" shot.

Paul said the funny thing is, when he got "chubby," he felt "really sexy." But the process of gaining weight was not that hot."I felt pretty bloated and sweaty most of the time. I had to eat 4,500 calories a day." (Jimmy: "Oh, is that bad?") Paul continued that he tried to do it as healthy as possible, but if the math didn't add up at the end of the day, he'd grab some wine and a tub of ice cream. (Jimmy noted that he basically became one of the Real Housewives.)

Paul didn't talk too much about his process of losing the weight, but he said he tore his ACL playing basketball with the extra weight, so right after he finished filming he had knee surgery. Then he just lay on the couch, feeling fat and on painkillers. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook.

Jon Stewart Skewers Media for Caitlyn Jenner Coverage Sexism

Posted:

Too true, Jon Stewart, too true. "The Daily Show" host addressed the media's overwhelmingly positive response to Bruce Jenner's transition to Caitlyn Jenner, but pointed out the irony of the reactions to her new Vanity Fair photos.

Here's Jon's take:

It's really heartening to see that everyone is willing to not only accept Caitlyn Jenner as a woman, but to waste no time in treating her like a woman."

Cue clips of reporters going on about Caitlyn's beauty, and how she looks like a movie star. Jon continued:

You see, Caitlyn, when you were a man we could talk about your athleticism, your business acumen. Now you're a woman, and your looks are the only thing we care about. Which brings us to phase two of your transition: your 'comparative f-ckability.'"

Cue more clips of reporters comparing Caitlyn to other women, asking if she's hotter than, say, Kris Jenner or Kim Kardashian. Jon added:

Look, we want to give a woman a compliment here, we just need to make sure another woman gets taken down a peg in the process. It's how we maintain the balance. Well we're almost all the way there. Let's complete the transition..."

Cue a male reporter saying "She looks great, especially for her age." Here's Jon's reaction:

There you go! Wow! That's the caveat we were missing: Remind her she has an expiration date now. You came out at 65, you have another two years before you become invisible in society, better make the most of 'em."

To top it off, Jon threw in some "slut-shaming" clips with reporters commenting on Caitlyn's cover outfit and questioning whether she's really that hot without makeup and Photoshop.

It's sad, but there's almost no way to win. Good for most of the media for accepting Caitlyn as she is, but it's like a knee-jerk reaction to immediately focus on a woman's appearance -- even as a compliment -- and further gauge a woman's worth based on her age, perceived beauty, and "bang" potential. No one really talked about Bruce Jenner as hot-or-not before he started transitioning, everyone just wondered what the heck he was doing in the Kardashian family.

Cameron Crowe Posts 'Heart-Felt Apology' After Emma Stone 'Aloha' Backlash

Posted:

L-r, Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper and Rachel McAdams star in Columbia Pictures' Cameron Crowe is feeling misunderstood. The "Aloha" director even called his movie "misunderstood" right in the first sentence of his new blog post, which references the Sony hack that initially dissed the movie and goes on to acknowledge whitewashing criticism. The June 2 post is titled "A Comment on Allison Ng," focusing on the casting of Emma Stone as Allison Ng, described as quarter Asian and quarter Hawaiian.

Here's part of the post, which includes an apology from Crowe to anyone who was offended:

Thank you so much for all the impassioned comments regarding the casting of the wonderful Emma Stone in the part of Allison Ng. I have heard your words and your disappointment, and I offer you a heart-felt apology to all who felt this was an odd or misguided casting choice. As far back as 2007, Captain Allison Ng was written to be a super-proud ¼ Hawaiian who was frustrated that, by all outward appearances, she looked nothing like one. A half-Chinese father was meant to show the surprising mix of cultures often prevalent in Hawaii. Extremely proud of her unlikely heritage, she feels personally compelled to over-explain every chance she gets. The character was based on a real-life, red-headed local who did just that."

He later added, "We were extremely proud to present the island, the locals and the film community with many jobs for over four months. Emma Stone was chief among those who did tireless research, and if any part of her fine characterization has caused consternation and controversy, I am the one to blame."

Anytime there's backlash, there's always an eye-rolling backlash to the backlash, but the initial disappointment that many Hawaiians shared was that the movie chose to focus mainly on white characters when ostensibly celebrating a location populated largely by non-Caucasians. There are so few Asian characters in major roles on TV and in movies, it just felt like a slap in the face to some viewers to give a partial Chinese role to Emma Stone. But with this post, Crowe at least got to explain his intentions and defend one of his lead actresses, who perhaps unexpectedly ended up in the middle of a larger race debate.

'Suffragette' Trailer: Carey Mulligan & Meryl Streep Fight for Equality

Posted:

Suffragette - Trailer No. 1
The fight for equal rights for women is still a relevant struggle in 2015, making the trailer for upcoming film "Suffragette" -- which focuses on the British suffrage movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and premieres today exclusively on Moviefone -- that much more poignant.

"Suffragette" stars Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan, and Helena Bonham Carter as members of the ever-growing group of women who want fairness from their government -- and are willing to go to violent, radical lengths to get it. As Maud (Mulligan) explains to one sneering man, "We break windows, we burn things, 'cause war's the only language men listen to."

Edith (Bonham Carter) refers to herself as a soldier, while Emmeline Pankhurst (Streep) excitedly "incite[s] the women in Britain to a rebellion." They're beaten, thrown in prison, their children are taken away, and yet Maud and her cohorts remain defiant -- and hopeful -- that they'll see success in the end.

"We will win," Maud declares to the same clueless fellow from before. We know she's right, and yet we also know it's a long, difficult road to get there -- and one many women are still on.

Best of Late Night TV: Jude Law Plays Pool Bowling, Connie Britton's Hula Hoop Lesson

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.

Jude Law was on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and he and Jimmy played a giant game of pool (billiards) bowling, which actually looks really fun and should definitely be a new national pastime. Sit down, baseball.
In his interview, Jude discussed getting an invitation to go down to Bolivia for a carnival, so the president of Bolivia showed up and they did a conga together.
Bryce Dallas Howard was also on "The Tonight Show" and she said she wanted to interview Jimmy about their movie, since he has a cameo in "Jurassic World." Probably smart of them to give him a cameo since it made him gush about the movie all the more. And Fallon is already prone to gushing.

Guy Pearce and Connie Britton were on "The Late Late Show with James Corden." Guy talked about being a bodybuilding champion as a teenager in 1984. He also discussed being on the popular Australian show "Neighbours," and James did some hula hooping with the gorgeous Connie. He had to be talked through it like it was a complicated process.
Jeff Ross was on "Conan" and talked about getting high with Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart. "Ironically, she's the one that's been to prison." This happened after Justin Bieber blew off his own Roast after-party.

Kellan Lutz was also on "Conan" and talked about his vision board and tricking out his ex-cop car.
Robert Duvall was on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" and Robert talked about Marlon Brando's script cheat sheets on the "Godfather" set. Seth actually showed a photo of Duvall acting as the cue card guy for Brando. Brando stories never get old.
Melissa McCarthy, who was on "The Tonight Show" Monday night, was on Seth's show and talked about getting injured in a ridiculous way on the set of "Spy."
Paul Dano was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," talking about how he gained 30 pounds to play Brian Wilson. He tore his ACL playing basketball with the extra weight, and after he filmed he had knee surgery and then he just lay around on painkillers. He also discussed becoming an obsessed Beach Boys fan.

Allison Janney was also on JKL and talked about her special curse word in "Spy," her Emmy wins and sex scenes.

Jimmy had a bit on the ABC promo department getting confused by Caitlyn Jenner and Kaitlyn Bristowe the Bachelorette.
