Update: 'Anchorman' Director Adam McKay to Replace Edgar Wright on Marvel's 'Ant-Man'

Posted: 31 May 2014 10:41 AM PDT

UPDATE 5/31/14: Following a busy 24 hours where three directors were said to be vying for the directing job on Marvel's Ant-Man, it looks like Anchorman director Adam McKay will reunite with his pal (and Ant-Man star) Paul Rudd, replacing Edgar Wright who left the project earlier this month. Heck, the last Anchorman movie had so many extra scenes and jokes they released an entirely different version of it on DVD alongside the one that hit theaters. Will McKay be allowed to play like that on a Marvel movie, and if not how will that impact his directing...

Josh Brolin Is Playing Marvel's Most Powerful Villain in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Posted: 30 May 2014 04:00 PM PDT

At one point before Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Josh Brolin was director Zack Snyder's choice to play the Caped Crusader. It never happened for various reasons, but now Brolin is set to play--or maybe we should say voice--the villain Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy. From DC's greatest hero to Marvel's most powerful villain. News first broke over Latino Review and then Variety confirmed it. Brolin will voice the villain in the upcoming Guardians, due out August 1, and potentially play Thanos in subsequent movies, including The Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Avengers 3. Watch: James McAvoy Explains Why This Vulgar Scene from 'Filth' Is His Proudest Moment on Film

Posted: 30 May 2014 01:00 PM PDT

Mainstream moviegoers are probably used to seeing James McAvoy as the noble, humanity-saving Professor Xavier in two X-Men movies now. Days of Future Past does give him a bit of an edge thanks to an addiction to painkillers, but it's still basically the same safe, family-friendly type of role you'd expect in a superhero movie. McAvoy has another movie out right now, though, and it's far, far, far, far, far, far less family friendly. It's called Filth, so the title alone should give you an indication of the tone, and in it he plays a dirty, drug-fueled detective who is spiraling out of control while trying to solve a murder mystery so he can land a promotion at work and get back his wife. This is a dark, dark comedy from director Jon S. Baird (Cass) adapted from a...
