| Will ‘Black and White’ be Edison Chen’s comeback film? Posted: 16 May 2014 12:05 AM PDT  "Black and White" Promotional Poster Jonathan Li, assistant director of Infernal Affairs III and Overheard 2, will be making his directorial debut with an action-thriller titled Black and White. Edison Chen (Infernal Affairs) will star alongside Baby John Choi (The Way We Dance). Film Business Asia describes Black and White as “an action film about two wronged undercover cops who become friends.” The big question is: Will Black and White be Chen’s comeback film? Chen was once one of biggest names in the Hong Kong Entertainment industry, but following a sex scandal in 2008, his popularity diminished. Studios even went as far as trimming down his screen time in 2009′s Sniper. Since then, Chen has only appeared in 2011′s Almost Perfect, an Asian-American indie flick which co-starred Kelly Hu. That same year, Chen announced he would be appearing in a sequel to 2005′s Initial D, but production was delayed and remains in development hell. Keep in mind that the DVD version is Region 3 coded, so you will need a multi-region DVD player to view the movie. Fortunately, the Blu-ray version is coded for region A, so it's good to go on your current North American Blu-ray hardware. Directed by Cheang Pou-soi (Accident), The Monkey King had the highest-grossing opening day in China, even surpassing Iron Man 3. | New action packed poster for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Posted: 16 May 2014 12:00 AM PDT  "Guardians of the Galaxy" Theatrical Poster THE MOVIE: In the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan. Directed by James Gunn (Super), Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters in August of 2014. The cast includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro Updates: According to THN, the cast of characters that will appear in the film are: Drax The Destroyer, Groot, Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon and Gamora. According to the Hollywood Reporter, James Gunn was chosen for his "sensibility and his ability to mix comedy elements with action and horror." Gunn is known for Dawn of the Dead, Slither and Super. | Collider reports that Gunn has confirmed that he will direct the film, and he will also rewrite Chris McCoy and Nicole Perlman's script. | Harrison Ford officially approached for ‘Blade Runner’ sequel Posted: 15 May 2014 12:00 AM PDT  "Blade Runner" Japanese Promotional Poster THE MOVIE: Hampton Fancher is in talks to reunite with his Blade Runner director Ridley Scott to develop the idea for the original screenplay for the follow up to the ground-breaking 1982 science fiction classic. The filmmakers are also revealing for the first time that the much-anticipated project is intended to be a sequel to the renowned original. The filmmakers would reveal only that the new story will take place some years after the first film concluded. Updates: The Playlist reports that Ridley Scott says Harrison Ford will likely appear in the Blade Runner sequel, but won’t be the focus. Ridley Scott describes a scene from the Blade Runner sequel at Collider. Rope of Silicon reports that the upcoming Blu-ray for Prometheus clearly shows (screen shot at link, originally from Reddit) that there is a connection between the Blade Runner and Prometheus (which technically means the Alien franchise is also connected). The connection is a dictated message by Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce) that implies an obvious reference to Dr. Eldon Tyrell (Joe Turkel) from Blade Runner and his creation of Replicants. Of course, this may have an effect on the upcoming sequel to Blade Runner. | THR reports that Michael Green, writer of 2011′s Green Lantern, is in negotiations to work on Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner sequel. In a recent interview, Empire asked Ridley Scott about Blade Runner 2, and this is what he had to say: “Yeah, we’re working on [Blade Runner 2] right now – that will happen sooner or later.” During an AMA (Me Anything) on Reddit (via Collider), when Harrison Ford was asked about the possibility of appearing in a Blade Runner sequel, this is what he had to say: I'm quite curious and excited about seeing a new script for Blade Runner if in fact the opportunity would exist to do another, if it's a good script I would be very anxious to work with Ridley Scott again, he's a very talented and passionate filmmaker.
