The Best Movie Trailers of the Week

Posted: 16 May 2014 05:00 PM PDT

Welcome back to Best Movie Trailers of the Week, a column where we handpick the best new movie trailers that have arrived online over the past week.   Lucy This new international trailer for Luc Besson’s Lucy doesn’t deviate much from the film’s first official promo, but it does offer a little more insight into exactly what Scarlett Johansson is capable of and, in turn, continues to prove that she should have no trouble holding her own amongst the Transformers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ninja Turtles and any other out-of-this-world heroes trying to dominate the summer season.     Edge of Tomorrow There’s definitely concern that the Edge of Tomorrow marketing campaign is divulging too many plot details prior to the film’s...

Great News: Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis Are Reteaming on a Movie Directed by Richard Linklater

Posted: 16 May 2014 03:30 PM PDT

Best comedy buds Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis are about to embark on a strange trip. The Wrap reports that the duo will be starring in an adaptation of Daniel Asa Rose's darkly funny memoir Larry's Kidney, set to be directed by Richard Linklater. That is, if the director survives his cohabitation with convicted murderer Bernie Tiede, who inspired 2011's Bernie. The story begins with Larry Feldman, a “gun-toting couch potato,” who after two years on dialysis desperately needed a kidney. Risking everything, he decided to head to China with cousin Daniel (the author) — a relative he hadn’t spoken to for years. During his bizarre journey to get a kidney transplant, Larry also decided to meet a mail-order bride. However...

Watch: Steve Carell Is Unrecognizable in the First 'Foxcatcher' Clip

Posted: 16 May 2014 02:30 PM PDT

They say really good actors can “disappear into a role” – and this new clip for real-life drama Foxcatcher seems to prove that point. Steve Carell is almost unrecognizable in this trailer. Carell plays John du Pont, one of the heirs to DuPont chemical company fortune, in the drama directed by Bennett Miller. The film focuses on the relationship between du Pont and Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum). The wealthy philanthropist recruited the wrestler to train at his estate in Pennsylvania, and then some really creepy things went down.   Bennett wanted Carell for the role because, as he says, “I didn’t want to hire an actor who you might presuppose was capable of murder because one thing that was repeated among many, many people...

'Interstellar' Trailer: Christopher Nolan and Matthew McConaughey Will Save Mankind

Posted: 16 May 2014 01:53 PM PDT

Most people aren't going to even need to see the trailer for Interstellar to know they'll be seeing it opening day. This is a new Christopher Nolan movie, after all. No matter how good or bad the movie ends up being, the anticipation for the director's first movie since The Dark Knight Rises is guaranteed to be enormous. Of course, it also helps that Interstellar does look absolutely incredible. The first teaser for the film only hinted that Matthew McConaughey was at the center of a story about mankind's grand destiny to colonize space. This full trailer for the film paints a much clearer picture: Earth can no longer sustain the amount of people living on it, and so mankind most turn to the stars to find another place to survive. What's still unclear is why...

See How One Fan Created His Own Awesome Wolverine Claws

Posted: 16 May 2014 11:00 AM PDT

In the pantheon of badass weapons, few things can compete with Wolverine’s Adamantium claws. Made of a metal that can slice through almost anything, attached to his skeleton, and spring-loaded like six of the deadliest switchblades ever made, Logan’s razor-sharp blades have been a fanboy fantasy since they made their debut way back in 1974. Over the years, fans have crafted their very own versions of the claws, but this set -- crafted by YouTube user ColinFurze – is easily the most amazing of the bunch. What sets them apart? They’re actually fully extendable and retractable thanks to an air tank carried in a backpack.   Sure, these aren’t exactly svelte – you’ve got to carry around a tank filled with air to get the full...
