New on DVD/Blu-ray: 'A Most Violent Year,' 'The Voices,' 'Killers,' and More Posted: 08 Apr 2015 09:30 PM PDT A Most Violent Year - Lionsgate - Blu-ray and DVD Director: J.C. Chandor Cast: Jessica Chastain, Oscar Isaac, Albert Brooks, David Oyelowo, Alessandro Nivola. Full cast + crew Despite what the title implies, A Most Violent Year isn't a movie about a bloodbath. At least not a literal bloodbath. It's all about how an entrepreneurial businessman (Oscar Isaac) in 1980s New York is trying to make a competitive but honest living in the heating oil industry. However, everyone around him, including his wife (Jessica Chastain), isn't so inclined to keep things honest, and the clash of ethics between the two makes for a smartly written, beautifully shot, and superbly acted drama about what it takes to hold on to the American dream. Here's What Happens to the Wrecked Cars From a 'Fast and Furious' Movie Posted: 08 Apr 2015 06:30 PM PDT Here's how many cars were totalled during the making of Furious 7: more than 230. That's on par for the series now, especially when spectacular action sequences call for a giant safe to be pulled through a city's streets or a tank to plow through traffic on a highway, squashing vehicles along the way. For Furious 7, there were a number of automobiles wrecked during an extensive chase and fight sequence set in the Caucasus Mountains in Azerbaijan. The action really took place in Colorado, and afterward the production had to dispose of more than 40 cars, including a bunch of late-model Mercedes-Benz's (armored G-Class SUVs and S-Class sedans) driven by Jakande's (Djimon Hounsou) henchmen. What happened to those demolished prop and stunt vehicles is... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Me and Earl and the Dying Girl' Trailer: Your First Look at One of the Year's Best Movies Posted: 08 Apr 2015 05:00 PM PDT The first trailer for Me and Earl and the Dying Girl has arrived online (it hits theaters on June 12), giving us our first look at what's bound to become one of the year's most talked-about movies. Not just because the film -- about the friendship between a boy and his cancer-stricken friend -- has got all the makings of a coming-of-age classic, but also because it's just great. Like, really great. So great it took home two top prizes at this year's Sundance Film Festival, with a grand jury award and an audience award. Here's what it looks like... And here's a little something we wrote about it after watching it at Sundance: This quirky tearjerker about a high school senior whose mother forces him to befriend a classmate with leukemia stole... 'Need for Speed 2' Will Now Burn Rubber in China Posted: 08 Apr 2015 03:45 PM PDT Need for Speed wasn't a massive hit in America. It tanked with critics and didn't do too hot at the box office, either, only pulling in about $43.5 million from an estimated $66 million budget. Numbers like that typically mean a movie's franchise hopes are dead on arrival. But that's just America, which is only one cog in the increasingly global picture of filmmaking today. The Aaron Paul-starring movie made another $160 million in other parts of the world, with about 40% of that coming from China alone. Those are indeed more sequel-worthy numbers, which is why a Need for Speed 2 is now happening. And not only that, but it's doubling down on China. According to Variety, a lot of the sequel will be filmed in China and will utilize some notable Chinese... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Similar to how Morena Baccharin revealed her role in the movie, Skrein shared a photo of his on-set chair with his character's name (Ajax) on it. In the comics, Ajax tries to kill the hero (Ryan Reynolds) before going on the run himself, eventually seeking revenge. We'll have to wait until the movie opens in theaters on February 12, 2016, to see how it all plays out.
