Today in Movie Culture: Disney's 'Game of Thrones,' 'Star Wars' Invades Los Angeles and More Posted: 13 Apr 2015 10:00 PM PDT Here are a bunch of little bites to satisfy your hunger for movie culture: Ryan Reynolds personally shared this fan-made poster for his movie Deadpool: Los Angeles is under attack by the Imperial Forces from Star Wars in this short by Kaipo Jones (via Geek Tyrant): And now that you can buy all the Star Wars movies in digital form, here's a fun old infographic to help you along as you watch The Phantom Menace. See the other five here. For Cineflect, J.S. Lewis analyzes how the hallway fight scene from Oldboy influenced a similar scene in the new Daredevil series (via Press Play): Watch a trailer for a cool Predator fan film set in the Dark Ages. It's like Predator meets Game of Thrones (via... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Reel TV: MTV's 'Scream' Trailer Trades Drew Barrymore's Sweater for Bella Thorne's Bikini Posted: 13 Apr 2015 08:00 PM PDT It seems like the minds behind MTV's new Scream are aware of how hard it's going to be to turn a movie as singularly perfect as Scream into a TV show, seeing as the first trailer for it announces (via one of its characters), "You can't do a slasher movie as a TV series." Presumably they're not talking about Scream itself, but instead the Stab series of movies that are such a fundamental driving force of Scream 2-4, and are apparently popular among teens in the show's town of Lakewood (not Woodsboro). But, then again, the first movie opens with a very conservatively dressed Drew Barrymore getting sliced and diced, while the show is going to open with Bella Thorne in a bikini getting sliced and diced. That may seem like a superficial change... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
How Adam Sandler Accidentally Killed the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' Prequel Posted: 13 Apr 2015 06:30 PM PDT When a franchise has the kind of life that A Nightmare on Elm Street has had, there are always going to be ideas that fall through the cracks. Did you know, for instance, that Peter Jackson wrote an Elm Street sequel in the early '90s? Titled A Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Lover, it was going to address the fact that Freddy Krueger wasn't the terrifying entity he'd been in the first movie, how he'd become a weakened clown who teens tried to encounter so they could use him as a punching bag. There were also plenty of other pitches being drafted back then, and in the years since a lot of attempts at Freddy vs. Jason movies had been discussed or in early stages of development both before and after the 2003 Freddy vs. Jason. Right before that crossover... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The Iron Man vs. Hulk Fight From 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Erupts Online Posted: 13 Apr 2015 05:00 PM PDT The inevitable fight between The Hulk and Iron Man in Avengers: Age of Ultron has been progressively teased throughout all of the trailers, but if a few glimpses of Tony Stark trying to contain his big, green, rage monster friend weren't enough for you, Marvel has posted the first part of the fight online. It's not the entire thing, so you'll definitely still be getting your money's worth when the movie hits theaters on May 31, 2015, but this extended look already has us drooling for more. Sure, it's cool to see Iron Man finally get to use his Hulkbuster armor, and it's also intriguing to see the after math of Scarlet Witch getting inside the heroes' heads, but the coolest reveal here is that Tony Stark built a flying armory that can keep resupplying... New 'Terminator: Genisys' Trailer Reveals the Movie's Twist Villain Posted: 13 Apr 2015 03:30 PM PDT You've got to at least hand this much to Terminator Genisys: when they plan to twist a franchise's mythology, they don't just tweak it here and there, they blow it smithereens. At least it looks that way in the latest trailer, which has further revealed what's really going on in the reboot. We already knew that this movie was jumping from the apocalyptic war of the far future and into the franchise's past, with a reimagined scenario in which Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) has actually been raised by a terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger). That by itself would seem like a pretty radical change since it already presents a timeline where the new T-800 (old man Schwarzenegger) has to fight the old T-800 (young man Schwarzenegger). But that's not the only... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
