Yup, Dennis Quaid's On-Set Meltdown Was a Prank Posted: A video of Dennis Quaid having an epic meltdown on the set of one of his movies went viral on the Internet a few days ago, but many smelled something fishy about the whole thing. Was it a Jimmy Kimmel prank, like the girl who catches on fire while twerking? Well, Kimmel disavowed himself from the Quaid rant, but it seems it WAS a prank from Funny or Die. The comedy site released the entire video today. In it, Quaid is performing a serious monologue when a guy in a silly costume wanders onto the set. From there, he launches into the tirade "captured" in the cellphone footage, in which he lashes out at the "zombies" and the "f---ing baby" watching him. 'Sopranos' Creator David Chase Explains That Final Scene (Sort Of) Posted: Perhaps no scene in television history has inspired as much debate as the diner scene in the series finale of "The Sopranos." The contents of the scene, as well as its infamous conclusion - an abrupt cut to a black screen - outraged some fans and intrigued others. Now, eight years later, in an article for the Directors Guild of America Quarterly, creator David Chase explains how his intentions in that last scene - though, be warned, he does NOT explain what happens to Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) after that black screen. OK, to recap that scene: Tony meets his family in a homey diner. First, wife Carmela (Edie Falco) shows up, followed by son A.J. (Robert Iler). Outside, daughter Meadow (Jamie Lynn-Sigler) is parking her car. Meanwhile, each time the door to the diner opens, a bell dings. A mysterious man in a Members Owner jacket seems to eye Tony. The door opens again (perhaps it's Meadow), the bell dings - and black screen. We can practically hear the stunned gasps/screams from 2007. "I thought the ending would be somewhat jarring, sure. But not to the extent it was, and not a subject of such discussion. I really had no idea about that," Chase writes. What's especially fascinating about Chase's recollection is how crucial the Journey song "Don't Stop Believin'" is to the scene. "The song dictates part of the pace. And having certain lyrics of the song, and certain instrumental flourishes happen in certain places, dictates what the cuts will be. I directed the scene to fit the song." It even informs that cut to black. "The biggest feeling I was going for, honestly, was don't stop believing. It was very simple and much more on the nose than people think," he says. "Life is short. Either it ends here for Tony or some other time. But in spite of that, it's really worth it. So don't stop believing." This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Summer Movies 2015: The 32 Most Anticipated Blockbusters, Comedies, and More Posted: The summer movie season is always jam-packed with huge films, but this summer is so chock full of potential blockbusters that it feels less like a box office race and more like a gladiatorial free-for-all. Seriously, the amount of big movies that will be invading theaters during the summer months is ridiculous. Every weekend, audiences will have to decide between superhero sequels, futuristic sci-fi fables, spooky horror tales, and everything in between. (Full disclosure: there are a few movies about actual human beings dealing with relatable, everyday problems.) At the end of the season, someone will be in charge of collecting the severed body parts and mopping up all the spilled blood. So, with a daunting few months ahead of us, we tried to rundown the biggest of the big movies, compiling a handy list of this summer's surest bets, biggest question marks, and potential pratfalls. With so many huge movies, predicting which will sink and which will swim becomes an even more impossible task. But what are you looking forward to? Let us know. 5 New Teases on 'Walking Dead' Season 6 and 'Fear the Walking Dead' (VIDEO) Posted: "The Walking Dead" has departed until October, but the spinoff/companion series, "Fear the Walking Dead," is premiering its first six episodes late this summer on AMC. Robert Kirkman, who writes the "Walking Dead" comic books and executive produces both the main show and the spinoff, was at the 2015 National Association of Broadcasters Show with actor Steven Yeun (Glenn) and AMC president Charlie Collier, and they teased some TWD stuff ahead. You can watch a portion of the NAB Show talk in the video below, but here are five highlights: 1. Rick and Morgan are "spine" of Season 6 Season 5 ended with Rick Grimes finally face to face with his old buddy Morgan Jones, whom he hadn't seen since Morgan went loco in Season 3. "Having Rick and Morgan together, finally, again is a huge deal, and it's definitely going to be a big part of Season 6," Kirkman said (via TheWrap). "Now it's a very different Rick and a very different Morgan who are going to have a completely different relationship. And it's the questions of how they're going to interact, how they're going to work together - if they're going to work together - and what comes from those interactions is going to be basically the spine of Season 6." 2. Glenn's future is "cool," death may be "awesome" Kirkman said "a lot of cool stuff" is ahead for Glenn, but are Glenn's days numbered on the show? Yeun admitted it "could happen" that Glenn dies, since no one is ever safe on the show, and the comic book sometimes hints in a certain direction. However, Yeun added, "The way that we make the show - the writers and everybody really want to focus on making things poignant and purposeful and meaningful. So if it were for Glenn to go, then it's probably going to be awesome." 3. Why that spinoff title? Kirkman said the "Fear the Walking Dead" title means a lot of things, it's taking us back to a time when the walking dead were much more dangerous and more numerous. "So it's definitely time to fear the walking dead." Plus, he said, a title like "Walking Dead: Los Angeles" would've been the "exact wrong thing" for the show's tone. 4. More deadly people to "Fear" Kirkman said he's always liked that the title "the walking dead" refers to both the walkers and the human survivors. "They are, in a sense, all just on borrowed time, and it's possible that the people that that we're following in this [spinoff] show are maybe a little bit more deadly." 5. No outbreak origin story coming Kirkman said every other ZA story deals with the origins of the outbreak, and that's "not the priority in Walking Dead; that's not the priority in Fear The Walking Dead." They are instead more concerned with "the heart." This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Orange Is the New Black' Renewed For Season 4, Watch New Season 3 Clip Posted: You've got tiiiiiiiiiiiime, "Orange Is the New Black" fans. Netflix just extended the show's sentence for another year. OITNB Season 3 starts streaming on June 12, and Season 4 will arrive in 2016. Netflix issued the updates on April 15 while also sharing a new clip from Season 3. In the sneak peek (watch it below), Suzanne (Uzo Aduba) goes full Crazy Eyes on Poussey (Samira Wiley) on the topic of Vee (Lorraine Toussaint). Suzanne believes Vee is coming back for her, but Poussey laughs that Vee was "smushed like a bug." And, in case you missed it, here's the full Season 3 trailer, which Netflix shared last week: This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Check Out the 'Beauty and the Beast' Cast's Epic Set Selfie Posted: The magic is already happening on the set of Disney's live-action movie "Beauty and the Beast." Josh Gad, who will play LeFou, shared this Instagram photo on April 14, writing, "Can't wait for you to be our guest": That's Josh to the left, with "Downton Abbey" alum Dan Stevens (The Beast) making the face behind him, along with Luke Evans (Gaston), Kevin Kline (Belle's father) and Emma Watson (Belle). This cast just keeps getting better. Emma Thompson will play Mrs. Potts and Sir Ian McKellen was recently announced as Cogsworth. Audra McDonald and Gugu Mbatha-Raw are also co-starring, and we can't wait to hear who else might be joining this crew. The movie is slated for a March 17, 2017 release, which is a long time to wait, but hopefully the time will be filled with more selfies, and possibly even a video tease with the cast singing "Be Our Guest." 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Premiere Sets New Ratings Record, Despite Episode Leaks Posted: Take that, pirates and leakers! The old gods and the new have smiled on "Game of Thrones" Season 5, giving last Sunday's April 12 premiere a record audience of 8 million people. According to Variety, that's up 1.16 million (17 percent) from the Season 4 premiere of 6.84 million, and roughly 800,000 more viewers than any other episode of the HBO series to date. Those are huge numbers, especially for a premium service like HBO. It's even more impressive when you consider that GoT is the most pirated show on the planet, with more than 7 million people illegally downloading the series. Plus, HBO just had a security breach, with someone leaking the first four episodes of Season 5 online just before the premiere aired. And it still broke records. GoT's audience keeps growing each year, much like "The Walking Dead," which has had similar success over on AMC. We'll have to see if GoT can sustain this ratings high throughout Season 5 or watch it fly away like Drogon. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Posted: If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night. Jon Cryer, Grace Helbig, and Freida Pinto were on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" Tuesday night. Jon, aka Duckie, did a "Pretty in Pink" routine with James. They recreated his record store dance to Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness," and even took it into the audience. Jimmy Fallon must be biting his fingernails over these fun bits -- especially since "The Tonight Show" is on repeats this week and James is having a blast. Here's the new "Pretty in Pink" dance and the original from the movie: In other "Late Late Show" news, the group talked about Uber. Freida has lived in L.A. for three years now, but she doesn't drive, she uses Uber. There's a dual-rating system for Uber and Freida knows her rating, but Grace and James didn't know. Jon said he'll dress better, now that he knows he'll be rated. "Justified" just ended, and star Timothy Olyphant was on "Conan" Tuesday night. Timothy said they couldn't drink whiskey on the show, but he brought a mason jar to "Conan" so he, Andy Richter, and Conan O'Brien could drink some real whiskey and toast "Justified." Timothy said the wrap party was bittersweet. On a different note, Timothy said he auditioned for "Iron Man." He screen-tested for Tony Stark on the same day as Robert Downey Jr. "I'm still waiting to hear back. ... You know, superheroes are huge. Could be a real game-hanger." The whole conversation is hilarious. Cobie Smulders was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," talking about "The Avengers," which had its premiere the night before, across the street. Apparently they were doing tequila shots backstage and on the red carpet itself, then answered press questions. (!) The full cast was on JKL yesterday, but tonight it was just Cobie. She talked about changing for the premiere in the car, and also talked about playing Maria Hill in the films and in "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Jimmy also shared her topless Women's Health photo, which was shot two months after she gave birth. Billy Crystal was on "Late Show with David Letterman" and talked about his nosy neighbor. He also sang a tribute to Dave -- "my best friend on television" -- and shared some highlights from their 32 years together. Billy said now he and Dave can take that road trip they've talked about. Soon, anyway. Dave will still be with us until May. Julie Chen was also on Dave's show and discussed "The Talk" changes. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
