Watch: The First 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' Trailer Is Dark and Out for Blood Posted: 17 Apr 2015 10:12 PM PDT "Tell me... do you bleed? You will." And thus concludes a dark, haunting and somewhat angry debut teaser trailer for next year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice -- one that finishes with an epic staredown between two superheroes fans have waited a long time to see share the big screen in live action form. Check it out below. #BatmanvSuperman #NotBlurry #NotPirated https://t.co/6twr1oFBvr — ZackSnyder (@ZackSnyder) April 17, 2015 Since we still have almost a year to go before Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters -- officially kicking off DC's massive plan for a shared cinematic universe of their own -- this first teaser plays like a meaty appetizer prior to the complete meal, and more like a follow-up to Man of Steel than... Posted: 17 Apr 2015 10:00 PM PDT Here are a bunch of little bites to satisfy your hunger for movie culture: What if Captain America had a reason to be suited with his own Iron Man type armor? 7 Cool Movies That Actually Make Unique Use of Found Footage Posted: 17 Apr 2015 08:45 PM PDT Most found footage horror films follow the same basic beats. Idiots with camera set out to film something dangerous. Idiots get menaced by that something dangerous. That something dangerous kills everyone, leaving their unedited footage to be discovered by a third party and released into theaters everywhere. Thankfully, some horror filmmakers are going out of their way to shake that up. Unfriended is a prime example. Now, the idiots who get killed on camera by a malevolent force are being filmed by their webcams via Skype session. Yep, this is a "found footage" movie told entirely on a computer screen, complete with frequent trips to YouTube and Facebook. In honor of Unfriended, let's revisit the found footage horror movies that have actually tried to shake things... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
See Matthew McConaughey Weep While Watching 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Trailer Posted: 17 Apr 2015 07:30 PM PDT The new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuted simultaneously online and at the Star Wars Celebration event yesterday, and while it played you could imagine the reactions being experienced worldwide, as millions of voices suddenly cried out with joy and then suddenly were even more excited for the upcoming sequel. It was the very opposite of a disturbance in the Force. It was indeed a reawakening. Among those fans who captured their own emotional reactions is Matthew McConaughey, who broke down in tears watching from his spaceship, which is heading out to another galaxy far, far away. Okay, so it's not really McConaughey but his Interstellar character, Cooper, and obviously he's not really streaming the Force Awakens trailer in the original version of the... The Last Horror Blog: Why 'Martyrs' Is The Best Horror Film of the Century Posted: 17 Apr 2015 06:15 PM PDT Recently, Indiewire gathered up a bunch of film critics and asked them what they thought the best horror film of the century was to date. The article, which you can read here, is really interesting. The big debate seems to focus on whether It Follows or The Babadook is the best horror film we’ve seen in the first 15 years of this young century, but there are plenty of other films getting props. I don’t disagree with any of the choices – which range from Takashi Miike’s unsettling Audition to Guillermo Del Toro’s uber-creepy Pan’s Labyrinth, but I was surprised by a few things. First, it was pleasant to see that A Serbian Film – a title that had my colleagues waxing orgasmic a few years ago – wasn’t even mentioned in passing. I... Find Out How That Star Destroyer Crashed in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Posted: 17 Apr 2015 04:45 PM PDT The new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer may have the best opening shot of any trailer we've seen in quite a while. That slow pan of a tiny speeder bike coasting across a desert planet, with the reveal that they're cruising in front of an Imperial Star Destroyer that has crash landed long ago. It's both a beautiful call back to the original Star Wars trilogy, and a giant invitation for fans to ask, "Where is this and why'd that happen?" It looks we'll have answers to both those questions a few weeks before The Force Awakens even hits theaters, thanks to the new Star Wars Battlefront game and a free piece of downloadable content called "Battle of Jakku." According to the game's producers, the Battle of Jakku took place a year after... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
From Mall Cop to Archeologist: Five Boring Jobs That Look Really Fun in the Movies Posted: 17 Apr 2015 03:00 PM PDT In Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Kevin James titular character uses his skills to battle a gang of criminals who have seized control of the shopping center he patrols. In the sequel, the aptly named Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, he once again uses his skills to thwart a criminal enterprise. Both of these scenarios are a far cry from the realities of working mall security, which is a far more mundane career. There are not as many organized heists and a lot more petty shoving matches between shoppers who both think they saw something first. The movies can romanticize just about anything, transforming jobs and careers that are dull in the real world into something far more romantic and visceral. However, you shouldn't get into the mall cop business because you want to battle career... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Comics on Film: Three Great Spider-Man Stories Marvel Studios Should Explore Posted: 17 Apr 2015 01:43 PM PDT With the continued rise in prominence of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the continued sequestration of other important Marvel Cinematic Universe characters at other studios, perhaps the most continued tragedy was the inability for Spider-Man to appear alongside the Avengers in some fashion. After a licensing deal was struck between Sony Pictures and Disney, though, it won't be too long before we can see Peter Parker rubbing elbows with the likes of Steve Rogers, Matt Murdock, or Ben Urich. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently broached the subject of the Webslinger showing up in the MCU in an interview with IGN. He said, In terms of the age of an actor we’ll eventually cast, I don’t know. In terms of the age of what we believe Peter...
