Yep, That's Joseph Fiennes as Michael Jackson in the 'Urban Myths' Trailer Posted: Any other day, seeing Ron Weasley as "Hitler's friend" -- with a "Game of Thrones" star playing Hitler -- would be the most eyebrow-raising thing in a trailer. But nope! That honor goes to "Shakespeare in Love" star Joseph Fiennes as Michael Jackson in the new British comedy series "Urban Myths." Sky Arts in the U.K. recently released a promo for "Urban Myths," which aims to tell "True...ish Stories" about the famous. According to The British Comedy Guide, the eight one-off 30-minute episodes will "look at remarkable stories from well known historical, artistic and cultural figures, which may or may not have happened in real life..." The recently deceased Carrie Fisher reportedly appears in one of the episodes, too. You probably heard about the controversial casting of Joseph Fiennes as Michael Jackson in a replay of the (rumored) story that Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor (Stockhard Channing), and Marlon Brando (Brian Cox) took a road trip together shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
Here's the promo:Yes, that's another "Game of Thrones" star -- Aiden Gillen, aka Littlefinger -- as Timothy Leary. According to The British Comedy Guide:
The Bob Dylan one appears to air first, on January 19 in the U.K. The Michael Jackson one is said to be in the second batch of episodes probably not airing until April. Head here for more details and dates. News of the Jackson/Taylor/Brando segment came out around this time last year, billed as "Elizabeth, Michael & Marlon." At the time, Fiennes described the role as a "challenge" but a "fun, light-hearted tongue in cheek road trip of what celebrity of that kind is like. But also it's rather beautiful and poignant about their relationships as well." Sky Arts reacted to controversy over the white actor's casting, saying, in a statement:

'The Walking Dead' Season 7B Synopsis Warns of 'Treachery From People We Trust' Posted: Who do you trust on "The Walking Dead," and what will they do to lose your trust in the second half of Season 7? AMC just released the official synopsis and three new photos to promote Season 7B, which starts Sunday, February 12. Here's the synopsis:
They put "all-out war" with Negan right in the synopsis. Nice. But we shouldn't expect that comic book storyline to play out this season. The season finale -- which Andrew Lincoln loved, and basically promised would make us cheer -- will probably include some mention of all-out war as a preview for Season 8. But that's just a guess. Maybe they'll surprise us and start the war right here in the next eight episodes. Here are two other photos, in addition to the one above of Rick looking lost in the road: That's Katelyn Nacon as Enid, Danai Gurira as Michonne, Tom Payne as Paul 'Jesus' Rovia, Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes, Sonequa Martin-Green as Sasha Williams, Lauren Cohan as Maggie Greene, Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, Alanna Masterson as Tara Chambler, Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, and Christian Serratos as Rosita Espinosa. They look like they are still at Hilltop, which is the location of AMC's previous back half teaser photo, showing Maggie and Rick talking to Gregory. Here are Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, Danai Gurira as Michonne, Ross Marquand as Aaron, and Alanna Masterson as Tara Chambler: Do you think this photo is Tara taking a select group (including recruiter Aaron) to meet the women of Oceanside? "The Walking Dead" Season 7 returns February 12 at 9 p.m. on AMC. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Sylvester Stallone & Casey Affleck Had a Mean Girls Tiff at Golden Globes: Reports Posted: You can't sit with the cool kids, Sly. Just take your lunch and eat it in the bathroom stall. Sylvester Stallone's daughters were Miss Golden Globes at Sunday's 2017 Golden Globe Awards, and maybe he should've just gone up on stage to stand with them, 'cause he did not have a seat. Or his wife did not have a seat. Apparently there was some kind of seating mixup at his assigned table, which was with the "Manchester by the Sea" crowd -- star Casey Affleck, film producer Matt Damon, and writer/director Kenneth Lonergan. Turns out, there was only one seat left at the table, so Stallone and his wife Jennifer Flavin were left in an awkward position. When Casey Affleck later tried to apologize over the confusion -- even though he wasn't exactly in charge of seating arrangements, so it wasn't his fault -- Stallone reportedly told him off. Full diva! A source told People that, when the seating mistake first became clear, no one made an effort to accommodate the Stallones, "who grew frustrated and seemingly embarrassed, and eventually retreated to the green room backstage. The couple would not return to the table and watched the show from backstage instead." A second source confirmed "confusion" over seating but said there was no ill will toward Stallone from Affleck, Damon, or anyone else. (What were the actors supposed to do? It would've been kind to help them find another seat, but it's not like Sly Stallone is some kind of shrinking violet who can't solve his own problems.) People was told that an additional chair was brought to the table, and seats facing the stage were freed up. But by that point Stallone had taken his ball and gone home, or at least to the green room. After Affleck won his Golden Globe, he crossed paths with Stallone in the green room and reportedly tried to apologize for the seating issue. Stallone was reportedly "not receptive," which is rude, since it's not like it's Casey Affleck's fault. If anyone had a right to be at the table, it's the guy who was nominated and then won. A Globes insider shared more details with Page Six:
But he didn't want the seats by then. A second source told Page Six that Casey Affleck was mortified about the Stallone seating mix-up, and when he tried to smooth things over backstage, Rocky told him, "Get out of my face." Stallone's rep had this to say to People: "The story you refer to is an interesting rumor – but a rumor nonetheless. Sylvester Stallone had a wonderful evening attending and presenting at the Golden Globes and celebrating with his family and friends." Moral of the story: One should always show up to events on time, especially live events that will not accommodate the fashionably late, so any issues can be resolved before it's too late. Second moral: If an issue does arise, don't be a diva about it. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Game of Thrones' Star Reveals Season 8 Filming Schedule (So He Lives, Right?) Posted: Based on this "Game of Thrones" schedule talk, it sounds like at least one beloved character will make it to the final season. On the 2017 Golden Globes red carpet, Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos Seaworth) was asked if there's pressure on the cast and crew to keep the standard high into Season 7, since the show has become so successful:
We return in September. "We." So Ser Davos should survive Season 7 into Season 8, no? It's not a given that he would -- likable supporting characters tend to fall by the wayside on this show, just ask Ser Barristan and Hodor -- but this sounds hopeful. This is not the first time we're hearing about six episodes for the final season. Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) recently said the same thing, and that was the rumor released a long time ago. HBO has yet to confirm -- they've yet to say anything about Season 8 -- but lock in six episodes. Here's Cunningham sharing more of his own filming schedule -- "I'm doing a little bit next week" -- and adding that he'd love to be involved in a GoT prequel/spinoff: Iain Glen recently talked about how they're spending the same amount of time making GoT Season 7's seven episodes as they did for the past seasons's 10 episodes. (He also said there's a total of 15 hours left to the show in the next two shortened seasons, which would suggest some supersized episodes.) HBO is usually done filming by now, starting over the summer and finishing up before the new year. This year, they started filming Season 7 in late August/early September, took a brief break for the holidays, and now they're back at it until the end of February. It's possible they'll do the same for Season 8's six episodes, especially if they start in September, to take advantage of more fall/winter weather. Previous seasons premiered in the spring on HBO. Season 7 will premiere this summer. Season 8 may premiere in the summer of 2018, although we're still waiting on an official Season 7 premiere date, so it's way too early to set a premiere date for Season 8. Before you go, here's another video from the Golden Globes red carpet, with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) saying "conflict" is a key word for Season 7: [via: Watchers on the Wall, Instagram] Want more stuff like this? If ABC Renews 'Once Upon a Time,' Season 7 May Hit 'Reset Button' Posted: Is the magic gone for "Once Upon a Time," or is the ABC series just getting ready for a game-changing new spell? Either way, it sounds like big changes are ahead after the current Season 6. Entertainment Weekly talked with ABC boss Channing Dungey about various network shows, including the future of OUAT. Here's the first question they asked today:
So it sounds like they are thinking of the end game, but leaving the door open for Season 7 -- and maybe even beyond? -- for that end game. Later on Tuesday, EW got more details from Dungey, and this part of the talk makes it seem like Season 7 is more of a serious reality than a fantasy idea. But it also sounds like OUAT would be a drastically different show, maybe even losing some of the major OG characters fans have come to love. Here's more from the ABC entertainment chief to EW:
Now it sounds like the network is waiting on the showrunners to share their final pitch for Season 7. Overall viewership has gone down for OUAT since Season 1, but not dramatically; the show still attracts between 3-4 million viewers in its Sunday debuts, which is only slightly down from last season. The Season 1 premiere attracted nearly 13 million viewers, but the show hasn't been that high since. The 18-49 ratings have been slipping a bit, which may be part of the reason ABC is looking at a shakeup. "Once Upon a Time" always takes frustratingly long breaks, too. Season 6, Episode 10 aired December 4, and Episode 11 won't arrive until Sunday, March 5 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. 'Baywatch' International Trailer Stars Priyanka Chopra's Villain, Zac Efron's Abs Posted: A new international (and NSFW) trailer for "Baywatch" has hit the internet waves, and with it, audiences are getting a closer look at both Priyanka Chopra's villain and Zac Efron's abs. Both get plenty of screen time in this new clip, which focuses on the seedier side of lifeguarding that has befallen the Baywatch crew. It's apparently all thanks to Chopra's character, Victoria Leeds, who just bought a swanky local club where lots of bad stuff keeps happening."There's more to this job than just swimming," explains Dwayne Johnson's character, Mitch, to new recruit Matt (Efron). "Drugs, murder -- all this started once Leeds took over." "I thought we were lifeguards," Matt interjects. "Everything that you guys are talking about sounds like a really entertaining but far-fetched TV show." From everything we've seen from the flick so far, audiences can expect plenty more winking, meta references throughout the rest of the film (based on the hit '90s series of the same name). To balance out the quirky comedy, there's also plenty of high-octane action, too (including high-speed chases, explosions, and gunfights galore), if that's what floats your boat. "Baywatch" is due to run slo-mo into theaters on May 26. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Rian Johnson Teases 'Episode VIII' Plot, Rey and Luke's Connection Posted: We're still almost a year away from the debut of "Star Wars: Episode VIII," and while director Rian Johnson has kept the film's big secrets under wraps -- and doesn't have any current plans to spill anything major, lest he face the wrath of parent company Disney -- the filmmaker has offered fans a few morsels of information about the flick to tide them over until its December release. In an interview with USA Today, Johnson chatted in the broadest terms about the film, which is still untitled for now (though the director did tease that he does know what the film will eventually be called). The interview was conducted in December, before the death of Carrie Fisher, so there were no updates on her status as Princess Leia/General Organa going forward; but Johnson was able to provide some small details about another Skywalker. According to the director, Luke (Mark Hamill) is "the emotional entry point" to "Episode VIII," and the reclusive Jedi's reunion with his Rebel friends -- and the mystery of what he's been up to all these years -- will be a key factor in the film's plot. Luke's newfound connection with Rey (Daisy Ridley), who sought him out at the end of "The Force Awakens," is also a huge component of "Episode VIII," especially in regards to how their first meeting affects the young woman. "It very much feels like what we all go through in adolescence, the dawning of this new chapter of our lives," Johnson explained of Rey's journey in the flick. For more from the director, check out the entire interview over at USA Today. "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is due in theaters on December 15. 'La La Land' Could Become a Stage Show Posted: "La La Land" is currently dancing its way to an inevitable Oscar nomination (and some say likely win) for Best Picture, and soon, it could also be dancing its way onto a stage near you. Lionsgate, the studio behind the critical darling, sees the flick's recent box office success (not to mention its Golden Globe win this past weekend for Best Picture) as an entryway into a stage show version of the film. During an event at the studio's Investors Day presentation in Denver on Tuesday, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Erik Feig seemed bullish on the concept of translating the singing and dancing onscreen into a live musical experience. "If we want to do a stage show, we can do a stage show," Feig told investors of "La La Land," citing the studio's previous success with the format with its "Step Up" franchise, which currently has a touring stage production playing in Dubai. Nothing is set in stone yet, but the stage show would certainly be a clever way for the studio to continue to capitalize on the film's buzz. In addition to its big Golden Globes win (where it racked up a total of seven statuettes, the most-ever for any one film), it also just earned 11 nominations from the BAFTAs, as well as a nod from the Producers Guild, considered a major precursor to Oscar success. And that's all before the flick even hits its full nationwide theatrical expansion, set for January 22. Stay tuned to see if this production gets off the ground. Treat Yo Self to Aziz Ansari Hosting 'SNL' Later This Month Posted: It may not fall on Treat Yo Self Tuesday, but the January 21 edition of "Saturday Night Live" will still be a great indulgence for viewers: Aziz Ansari is set to host the sketch comedy show. Ansari, a former star of beloved NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation," currently headlines his own Netflix series, "Master of None," which picked up a pair on Emmys last fall. But the comedian will return to his Peacock roots when he makes his "SNL" hosting debut later this month. A recent report from TVLine delved into the curious case of "SNL" shunning TV stars -- even those from the network's own shows -- in favor of movie stars as hosts. We're glad that Ansari was able to break through that odd barrier, and think he'll be a natural on the Studio 8H stage. (And we agree with TVLine that Kristen Bell from NBC's "The Good Place" or any star from the network's "This Is Us" would make great future hosts. Get on it, NBC!) Serving as musical guest for Ansari's episode is Big Sean, who's also making his "SNL" debut. Both Ansari and the musician tweeted about their upcoming gigs, and naturally, both performers are eager to hit the stage.
Ansari's episode is slated for January 21. It will be the second episode back from the show's winter hiatus; "Rogue One" star Felicity Jones will emcee the first episode of 2017, set for January 14. [via: SNL/Twitter] This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
CBS Still Doesn't Know if It Will Renew 'The Big Bang Theory' Posted: The future of "The Big Bang Theory" remains a mystery, with CBS execs saying that the network is still trying to figure out whether or not to will renew the hit sitcom. During an appearance at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour this past weekend, CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller said in an interview with Deadline that the network was still "in negotiations" with the show's creative team. According to the trade, sources say the show's cast has not started negotiations over new contracts yet. Those contracts will likely be the biggest hurdle to a "Big Bang" renewal, since the main trio of Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, and Johnny Galecki are all making $1 million an episode, a jaw-dropping sum that will be hard for CBS to beat. The negotiations for those contracts, settled three years ago, initially caused a delay in the production of season eight of the series, and similar negotiations this time around could put a pause on a hypothetical season 11, too. "It is business as usual," Geller told Deadline of the production schedule on the current 10th season of the show. "These are going to be, I think, the normal tough negotiations when [you're] in a situation like this but we are guardedly optimistic." It's certainly in CBS's best interest to keep "Big Bang" on the air, since it's still pulling in record-breaking numbers for a scripted series, averaging over 20 million viewers per episode (with live+7 data factored in). Bazinga, indeed. [via: Deadline] This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Release Joint Statement About Divorce Proceedings Posted: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may be divorcing, but they're presenting a united front when it comes to their upcoming court proceedings, releasing a joint statement outlining their agreement to keep the details confidential by using a private judge. In a statement released on Monday night to The Associated Press, the first joint statement the couple has made since Jolie filed for divorce back in September, the former couple said:
Jolie's decision to file for divorce from Pitt, her husband of two years and partner of more than 12 years, sent shockwaves throughout Hollywood and made international headlines. At the time, Jolie's attorney released a statement saying the actress filed the petition "for the health of the family." The couple share six children together, and Jolie had initially sought full custody. Pitt made a rare public appearance at the Golden Globe Awards this past weekend, where he introduced Best Drama winner "Moonlight," which he produced. BAFTA Nominations Hail 'La La Land,' 'Arrival,' 'Fantastic Beasts' Posted: The British Academy of Film and Television Arts released its slate of nominees for the best films of 2016 on Tuesday, hailing current awards season favorites as well as some outliers that have so far flown under the radar this year. It's no surprise that recent juggernaut "La La Land" racked up the most BAFTA nominations, scoring 11 nods including best film, director, original screenplay, actor, and actress, as well as citations in a bunch of technical categories. Tied for second place with nine nominations apiece were "Arrival" and "Nocturnal Animals," with recent surprise Golden Globe winner Aaron Taylor-Johnson receiving another nod for the latter film. "Harry Potter" spinoff "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" also racked up an impressive number of nominations, with citations in five categories, including Outstanding British Film. But "Potter" author J.K. Rowling missed out on a screenwriting nod for her feature film debut, and also failed to earn a spot among nominees in the Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer category. The full list of film nominations is below. The 2016 British Academy Film Awards will be handed out at a ceremony in London on February 12. 2017 PGA Nominations Include 'La La Land,' 'Moonlight,' 'Deadpool' Posted: Fresh off a win at the Golden Globe Awards, "La La Land" earned a coveted nomination from the Producers Guild of America Awards. The Oscars frontrunner was joined by fellow Golden Globe winner "Moonlight." In a surprise turn, snarky superhero flick "Deadpool" also landed a nomination. While the PGA nominees don't always line up with Oscar nominees, the unexpected honor gives the Ryan Reynolds movie a big boost. In the animated feature category, Disney ruled with three nominees: "Finding Dory," "Moana," and Golden Globe winner "Zootopia." Last year, "The Big Short" won the PGA Award. It went on to lose out on the top Oscar prize to "Spotlight." The PGA Awards will be announced Saturday, Jan. 28. Here is the full list of nominees. Darryl F. Lightning McQueen Isn't Done Yet in New 'Cars 3' Trailer Posted: Age ain't nothing but a number to a car. Pixar unveiled a new extended trailer for "Cars 3," and it starts in the same grim, dark way as the teaser -- with a devastating crash for Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson). But though Lightning is told, "You will never be the racer you once were," he isn't ready to throw in the spark plugs yet. "I decide when I'm done," he declares amidst talk of retirement. As director Brian Fee told Entertainment Weekly, "McQueen is not the young hotshot anymore, the kid he was back then in 'Cars 1.' He's in the middle of his life, and as an athlete, that's getting up there," he said. "You have your whole life ahead of you, yet your career is starting to show its age. He's looking in the mirror and realizing, 'I'm 40 years old,' and dealing with the fact that the thing that you love more than anything else, you might not be able to do forever." The extended trailer doesn't explain much more of the plot, but it does introduce the main antagonist, the sleek and high-tech Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer). He's the upstart millennial to Lightning's old-school veteran. "Cars 3" opens in theaters June 16. Want more stuff like this? Ben Affleck Gets Revenge on Brother Casey for Not Thanking Him at Golden Globes Posted: Casey Affleck thanked a lot of people after winning the Golden Globe for best actor in a drama for "Manchester By the Sea." But he didn't mention one person — his brother. And Ben Affleck isn't about to let him get away with it. On an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Ben ruefully noted that Casey thanked "a s--- load of people," including Amazon (a producer) and Matt Damon (also a producer). "I was a little taken aback," Ben joked of being left off the long list. Kimmel even played a clip of Ben thanking Casey when he won his first Oscar for writing "Good Will Hunting." But soon, Ben got his revenge by revealing all the dirt he acquired from growing up with Casey. "This would be the very first time someone would win an Oscar who didn't brush his teeth from ages 10 to 14," Ben said. "It would be the very first time that someone wins an Oscar who pulls his pants all the way down at the urinal. Most Oscar winners don't do that." Well, Casey, better start tweaking your Oscar speech. Big brother is watching you. Want more stuff like this? Like us on Facebook. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Scandal,' 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'How to Get Away With Murder' Returns Delayed Posted: TGIT will have to wait another week. ABC announced it is delaying the premiere of "Scandal" season 6 and the return of "Grey's Anatomy" and "How to Get Away With Murder" one week due to a pre-inauguration special. All three Shonda Rhimes-produced shows — dubbed "TGIT" (Thank Goodness It's Thursday) — were scheduled to return Thursday, Jan. 19. Now, they'll come back Jan. 26. Instead, ABC will air "America's First Family: The Trumps Go to Washington" at 10 p.m. on Jan. 19. Repeats of "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal" will take the 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. slots. This means "Scandal" fans will have to wait a little longer for the long-awaited premiere of season 6. The drama took off the fall season to accommodate star Kerry Washington's pregnancy. So, that's one more week to find out whether Mellie and Jake won the presidential election. Want more stuff like this?
