| Arrow Video announces Sonny Chiba rarity ‘Wolf Guy’ Posted: 14 Jan 2017 11:31 PM PST  Wolf Guy | Blu-ray (Arrow Video) On April 4th, 2017, Arrow Video will be releasing the Blu-ray & DVD for 1975’s Wolf Guy (aka Wolfguy: Enraged Lycanthrope), a multi-genre flick directed by Kazuhiko Yamaguchi (Sister Street Fighter: Hanging by a Thread) and starring the one, the only Shinichi ‘Sonny’ Chiba (Hiroshima Death Match). Shinichi “Sonny” Chiba is a martial arts “manimal” in the ultra-70’s, 100% bizarre mixture of horror, action and sci-fi that is Wolf Guy, one of the rarest and most sought-after cult films produced by Japan’s Toei Studio. Based on a manga by Kazumasa Hirai (creator of 8 Man), and never before released outside of Japan, it’s a genre film classic waiting to be discovered and a completely unclassifiable trip into phantasmagoric funk. Chiba stars as Akira Inugami, the only survivor of a clan of ancient werewolves who relies on his supernatural powers to solve mysterious crimes. After a series of bloody killings perpetrated by an unseen force, Inugami uncovers a conspiracy involving a murdered cabaret singer, corrupt politicians, and a plot by the J-CIA to harvest his blood in order to steal his lycanthropic powers! At the same time, Inugami also discovers the truth behind his family heritage, and that he may not be the last of his kind. Directed by B-movie genius Kazuhiko Yamaguchi (Wandering Ginza Butterfly, Karate Bear Fighter), Wolf Guy truly is one-of-a-kind, with Chiba in full effect as the part-man, part-wolf, all-karate action hero and a collection of familiar 1970’s Toei actors in support. | Max Zhang and UFC’s Anderson Silva are ‘Made in Kowloon’ Posted: 14 Jan 2017 09:00 AM PST  “The Man with the Dragon Tattoo” Teaser Poster Max Zhang – the rising star of The Grandmaster and Ip Man 3 – will once again appear alongside his SPL II co-star, Louis Koo (Wild City), in Made in Kowloon (aka The Man with the Dragon Tattoo), an upcoming action thriller from Fruit Chan (Made in Hong Kong). The film also stars Annie Liu (Hungry Ghost Ritual) and UFC champ Anderson Silva. Details on Made in Kowloon are thin, but according to AFS, Zhang and Silva will have a match, a la Donnie Yen vs. Mike Tyson in Ip Man 3. Zhang has many other projects in the works, including The Brink, S.P.L 3: War Needs Lord, as well as an unofficial Ip Man 3 spin-off. As for Koo, well, the guy has a new film every week. We’ll keep you updated on Made in Kowloon as we learn more.
