Warner Bros. Shakes Things Up By Hiring 'Dope' Director for 'The Flash' Posted: 02 Jun 2016 09:00 PM PDT There have been a number of shake-ups at Warner Bros. ever since Batman v Superman came up a bit short commercially and critically. Executives have been shuffled around and new divisions have been created to focus exclusively on the future of DC Comics movies. One of the very first changes made post-BvS was the departure of Seth Grahame-Smith from the director's chair on The Flash. At the time creative differences were cited as the reason, but it didn't take long for sources to say it was actually because the studio got cold feet handing off such a high-profile project to a first time director. Now Warner Bros. has found a director with a few features under his belt, and while the name may not ring bells, it is an exciting choice. Rick Famuyiwa will direct The... 'Sicario' Sequel Finds a Director to Replace Denis Villeneuve Posted: 02 Jun 2016 07:30 PM PDT The last we'd heard about a sequel to Sicario was back in April when it was confirmed that the first film's core trio of Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt and Josh Brolin were all set to return. It wasn't major news, though. The actors had all been tentatively associated with the project for months, that was just a simple update making things official. Today brings a bit of a major update, though. Denis Villeneuve will not be directing the Sicario sequel, which is going by the title Soldado (Spanish for soldier). That's a bit understandable considering Villeneuve is neck deep in another sequel, Blade Runner 2. Instead Deadline reports the producers have locked on to Italian director Stefano Sollima to take over. Sollima may not be as marquee a name as Villeneuve... Are You Brave Enough to Watch the Killer-Shark Movie 'The Shallows' While Floating on Water? Posted: 02 Jun 2016 06:00 PM PDT It doesn't feel like a summer movie season without a movie to scare us away from ever going near the water, and this summer The Shallows looks to be that movie. So why not watch it while floating in water? Those brave enough to do just that are in luck -- one movie theater is actually staging a screening of The Shallows on water, but you'll need to have the guts (and be in Texas) in order to take on the challenge. Of course we're talking about the Alamo Drafthouse theater chain, known for their inventive roadshow screenings. They routinely screen Jaws on the water almost every year, and with a new killer-shark movie invading theaters, it makes sense to break out the inner tubes and bathing suits (and popcorn) for what they're billing as a... Posted: 02 Jun 2016 04:30 PM PDT We're nearly halfway through the year and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is still the most divisive movie of the year so far. Those who love it, love it with a raging passion. Those who hate it do so with a deafening indifference. And those who are somewhere in the middle seem to get caught in the crossfire from either camp. That reaction may not have been what the studio was going for, but it may very well end up lodging BvS deeper into pop culture than other superhero movies this year. Or that entire conversation could change radically when the Ultimate Edition is released on home video later this month. Not only is it rated-R for "sequences of violence," but this extended cut is a whopping 30 minutes longer than the theatrical version. That's huge... Stephen Amell Will Play Casey Jones in More 'Ninja Turtles' Sequels Posted: 02 Jun 2016 03:00 PM PDT In our nerdy Ninja Turtle-lovin' opinion, Casey Jones is a character so important to the TMNT mythology, he should play a huge role in all of the movies. And he does just that in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (June 3), as Stephen Amell (Arrow) portrays a live-action version of the hockey mask-wearing tough guy for the first time since 1993 (we love you Elias Koteas!), not counting this short fan film (Chris Evans voiced Jones in the 2007 animated movie). The notorious street vigilante gets a deeper origin story here, making him a corrections officer with aspirations to become a detective one day. "We don’t get in this movie the full-fledged, five-alarm fire Casey Jones that a lot of fans of the Turtles and the cartoon and the comics are... See What Sam Raimi's 'Spider-Man 4' Might Have Been Posted: 02 Jun 2016 01:30 PM PDT Back in 2007, Spider-Man 3 did not turn out exactly as director Sam Raimi wished. Though it was a financial success, earning more than $890 million worldwide, years later Raimi said: "It’s a movie that just didn’t work very well. I tried to make it work, but I didn’t really believe in all the characters, so that couldn’t be hidden from people who loved Spider-Man. I should’ve just stuck with the characters and the relationships and progressed them to the next step and not tried to top the bar." When it came time to make Spider-Man 4, the film was in pre-production when Raimi realized he wouldn't be able to make it work. He told Vulture: "It really was the most amicable and undramatic of breakups: It was simply that we had a... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
