Everyone Looks Intense in 'Game of Thrones: Battle of the Bastards' Photos Posted: Even though HBO didn't release a meaningful description of episode 9 of "Game of Thrones," it's pretty apparent what's going to happen just from the title alone: "Battle of the Bastards." Jon Snow vs. Ramsay Bolton. It's on! The network did release eight images from the episode, which depict everyone looking intense as hell. No wonder: The two sides are fighting for control of Winterfell and the entire North. The first image (above) features Sansa and half-brother Jon gazing into the distance. Here's Jon brooding, wearing the clothing his sister made for him: Jon's new right-hand man, Davos Seaworth, also sees something he doesn't like. Fans are speculating that he may discover that Melisandre burned Shireen as a sacrifice (which didn't work): And now, a glimpse at the other side of the battle, Jon's bastard foe, Ramsay Bolton. Please, "Game of Thrones," kill him off. We send a prayer to the old gods and new: Here's a jaw-dropping shot of the battle lines: And wildling leader Tormund in battle. Let's hope he survives and reunites with his one true love, Brienne: Jon and Sansa's army may be smaller than Ramsay's, but they also have Wun Wun on their side: In the teaser trailer, Jon says not to bring him back from the dead should he fall in battle: "Game of Thrones" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO. 'Ocean's Eight' Director Teases Starry Female Cast, Talks Tone Posted: As "Ocean's Eleven" spinoff flick "Ocean's Eight" (formerly known as "Ocean's Ocho") comes into focus, director Gary Ross is teasing that the cast is so starry, its announcement would "blow up the internet." That's what Ross told SlashFilm in a new interview, in which the director neither confirmed nor denied previous reports and rumors that the flick would be anchored by Sandra Bullock (in the George Clooney ringleader role) and also feature Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth Banks, Helena Bonham Carter, and Mindy Kaling. While fans will have to wait to hear confirmed details about that explosive group of women, Ross did reveal a few key bits of intel about how the project came together, and how it will try to mimic the tone of director Steven Soderbergh's "Ocean's" trilogy. As Ross explained to SlashFilm, he and Soderbergh have been friends for 20 years, and have been collaborating on each other's films for much of that time (Ross helped out on the "Ocean's" films, for instance, while Soderbergh was a second unit director for "The Hunger Games"). Ross said that that existing working relationship was the inspiration for him to tackle the "Ocean's" universe himself, and that he's doing so entirely with Soderbergh's blessing and support (the latter filmmaker will serve as a producer on "Eight"). "I think it's a pretty similar tone," Ross told the site of comparing "Eight" with the "Eleven" films, noting that his flick is "an extension and a continuation" of Soderbergh's series. " ... We're different filmmakers, obviously, so there will be those differences, but one of the things I'm drawn to is the amazing tone Steven was able to create, and we discuss that a lot. ... I'm in no way trying to reinvent the tone, and I'm thrilled and honored to be extending it. It's really fun to work with." It sounds like Ross has an incredibly specific vision for his version of "Ocean's," and we're excited that "Eight" will also wink to its charming and fun inspirations at the same time. Helen Mirren Confirms She'll Star in 'Fast 8' Posted: Helen Mirren made waves a couple years ago when she publicly campaigned for a part in the "Fast and Furious" franchise, revealing that she's a huge fan of the series (and loves doing her own stunt driving, too). Now, after months of rumors that she'd be joining the cast of "Fast 8," the Oscar-winning actress has confirmed that she'll indeed be part of the flick. In an interview with Elle, Mirren discussed her preference for "serious" cinematic roles, but admitted that that doesn't really apply to the "Fast" franchise -- and officially revealed that she's set to appear in the next installment. " ... I'm about to do 'Fast and Furious 8.' But that's for the fun of it," the actress told Elle. " ... I've always rather loved driving. I said, 'I'll be in it, but only if I'm allowed to drive if I do drive in it.' But we'll see. We'll see how it transpires." From the sounds of it, Mirren's part is probably a smaller one, since she apparently hasn't even filmed her scenes yet. (Or perhaps she's just being coy, so as not to reveal too much about her role.) Still, we one hundred percent approve of this move, and can't wait to see how the celebrated actress fits into the ensemble. (We'd love to see her go toe-to-toe with fellow Oscar winner Charlize Theron's enigmatic villain Cipher.) "Fast 8" zooms into theaters on April 14, 2017. Steven Spielberg Promises Harrison Ford Doesn't Die in 'Indiana Jones 5' Posted: Earlier this year, Disney made the surprising announcement that another entry in the "Indiana Jones" franchise would be hitting theaters in 2019. While we still have almost zero details about the flick, other than that it will star Harrison Ford and be helmed by Steven Spielberg, the director has confirmed at least one plot point for fans. In a wide-ranging interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Spielberg discussed some of his past and upcoming projects, including "Indy 5." While he didn't say much about the film, the director teased that he was "super excited" to return to the franchise, and that the flick is meant to be "straight down the pike for the fans." And what could me more fan service-y than assuring moviegoers that Jones will live to wield his whip another day? "The one thing I will tell you is I'm not killing off Harrison [Ford] at the end of it," Spielberg told THR. While that hint doesn't exactly reveal anything about the movie's plot, it does leave open the window of possibility that the "Indiana Jones" franchise could live on past this fifth installment. It had been widely assumed that "Indiana Jones 5" will be Ford's (and Spielberg's) last outing in the series, since the star will be 77 by the time it hits theaters. But if anyone could still believably be setting out on wild adventures as a septuagenarian, it's Ford-as-Indy. "Indiana Jones 5" is being scripted by longtime Spielberg collaborator (and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" screenwriter) David Koepp. It's slated for release on July 19, 2019. Here's a Peek at 'Piper,' the Pixar Short Premiering Before 'Finding Dory' Posted: Earlier this year, Pixar introduced fans to its newest short film star, an adorable little sandpiper named Piper. Now, the animation studio has released a sneak peek at some footage from "Piper," and it's just as cute as you'd imagine. The short clip features baby Piper exploring the water's edge, searching for a bite to eat. But as the film's synopsis notes, the "hungry sandpiper hatchling discovers that finding food without mom's help isn't so easy." We see little Piper eagerly rush to the shore, opening her mouth up wide for a morsel of food from her mother. But Mama Piper isn't going to let her chick get off so easy, instead nudging Piper to follow bubbles in the sand to seek out her own meal. Piper soon discovers that those bubbles seem to disappear faster than her little legs can carry her, though we have a sneaking suspicious that the charming chick isn't going to give up her quest. But first, she'll have to figure out why all the other sandpipers seem to be running away from the encroaching waves. "Piper" is a simple concept that's nonetheless an absolutely enchanting one to watch unfold, and we can't wait to see the entire short film for ourselves on the big screen. "Piper" premieres alongside "Finding Dory" on Friday. Photo credit: YouTube/Disney UK This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

Yeah, you read that right. The traditional movie-going experience is great and all, but being cooped up in a theater means missing the beautiful weather outside -- including sunsets, cool breezes, and starry skies. Celebrity Life Is 'a Minefield' for George Lopez Posted: George Lopez's early life reads like a chicano Charles Dickens story. Having been abandoned by his mother and raised by a grandmother who had little love to give, Lopez's childhood was one full of taunting and neglect. But, as an adult, he's turned his tragedy into material for a successful run in the stand-up comedy world. Then Sandra Bullock approached him to star in his own series, "The George Lopez Show." When Lopez joined primetime television in 2002, there had only been three previous Latino celebrities who starred in a major network TV show: Desi Arnaz ("I Love Lucy"), Freddie Prinze ("Chico and the Man") and John Leguizamo ("House of Buggin'"). The show ran successfully for five seasons and earned an even larger audience in syndication in Nick at Nite's line up. Since then, Lopez's career has been non-stop. Adding co-host (Emmy Awards), host (Latin Grammys, "Lopez Tonight"), and best-selling author ("Why You Crying?") to his resume, Lopez has been called one of the "Top Hispanics in America" by TIME magazine. His return to television, "Lopez," was just renewed for a second season and offers a side of Lopez that he has yet to fully explore. Moviefone: I've watched a few episodes of "Lopez" on TV Land, and I know it's semi-autobiographical. What led you to that concept? George Lopez: You know, when we went to TV Land, they said to me, you know we've seen "family" George, we've seen the "stand-up" George, we want to see the George that nobody sees. I thought that was a great concept because of the misconception that people think that because you're successful or Latino, that everything is great, people are great and money fixes everything, and I don't think anything could be further from the truth. I think you attract people that are not right. You don't know sometimes, in meeting people, in dating, even in business, you kind of go through, like, a minefield. I thought that was a great way to approach the show, and I think we've been successful in showing a life -- and a side -- that no one had seen before. What the show represents well is something a lot of first and second generation American-born Latinos are going through, and that is the feeling of being torn between two worlds. Do you feel that way, especially when it comes to your own children? Do you think that they are torn, and what do you do to help navigate that? My daughter, who's 20, I don't think is as culturally identified with being a Mexican like I was. You know, the times changed, there's more information now. I like the fact that she has her own image of herself. For me, I don't even think at 55, that people's perception of Latinos change. This is a great way to show people that we have a sense of humor, we have problems like everyone else. I didn't want to make it just one particular color because that doesn't appeal to everybody, but the fan base that I had seems to like the fact that we made a show that crosses a lot of cultures. One of the fun elements of the show is its variety of guest stars. One of my favorites was Ed Begley Jr. because he was just so unexpected. Do you have a list of dream guest stars? Ed Begley Jr. was great ... the episode where he goes through my house, telling me I'm using too much power because he's such an advocate for clean energy and those things. But maybe, someone like Pepe Aguilar or Pitbull or someone people wouldn't expect to see. Vicente Fernandez would be amazing, like a mentor. Or, Tom Jones; I met him at a concert. I want him to be my, almost like a ghost, a guy you always run into at the same place who gives you advice because he follows you on social media. So he would be like, "Hey, I've been following what's going on, want to know what I think?" and I would be like "no!" but then he gives you an answer, and it's an answer that's good. Speaking of social media ... I follow you on Facebook. You're very active, and interactive with your fans. What led you to start communicating with your fans on social media, and how do you take their feedback? You really kinda get one good punch in, a lot of negative ... and I block ... I block a lot of people. If people give a criticism that I think makes sense, then I answer some of them; I don't answer some of them. Most people in the public eye don't answer any because people have a thin skin. I particularly have a tough skin because of the direction I chose to take people on and to be a voice in politics as well as for Latinos. Now, with Donald Trump, I get a lot of right wing people coming at me hard, telling me he's going to deport me, even though I was born in Los Angeles! I think, if you're going to talk about ignorance and people not being intelligent, you'll have things to talk about forever. I was born in Los Angeles, too, and I know you're a big Dodgers fan. What do you think of the Dodgers this season? I'd like them to finally wrap one up! In 2018, which is only two years away, it will be 30 years since we've won. So to think that the Marlins have won a couple of championships, the Red Sox, the Cubs look good, and we've put a lot of money into that team. Well, everybody that buys tickets has an investment into the team. We would like the Dodgers to go deep into the playoffs, not just make it and get wiped out. They play good until they get to the playoffs. You don't want to be that team that plays good all year, makes it and then ... chorro ... at the end. "Lopez" airs Wednesday nights on TV Land.
