Posted: 21 Apr 2016 09:45 PM PDT Hasbro, which is already working on expanding its Transformers movie series into more and more prequels, sequels, spinoffs and other standalone installments, is moving forward with an additional mega franchise, also set up at Paramount, that will unite a handful of its toy properties into one big cinematic universe. As reported back in December, this shared universe will interconnect G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., Micronauts, Visionaries and Rom brands. It's unclear if G.I. Joe will be rebooted from its existing movies. The toy company turned movie studio has now set up a writer's room, similar to what they did for Transformers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind) is overseeing this room in addition to the... 'Independence Day: Resurgence' to Feature New Aliens; Leaves Room for More Sequels Posted: 21 Apr 2016 08:15 PM PDT They're back! 20 years after Will Smith greeted an alien by punching it in the face, those other-worldly creatures finally got their act together enough to give it another go in their efforts to destroy our planet. This time around Will Smith is not joining the fight (his character was killed in an accident, according to the sequel's viral campaign), but Independence Day: Resurgence boasts returning cast members like Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, Bill Pullman, Brent Spiner and Judd Hirsch -- not to mention franchise newbies like Liam Hemsworth, Sela Ward, Maika Monroe and Jesse Usher. We sat down with a bunch of the cast earlier this month in Las Vegas at CinemaCon and found out a few things about the sequel twenty years in the making. There will be other... Robert Downey, Jr. Officially Joins 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Posted: 21 Apr 2016 06:45 PM PDT When Disney and Sony first dropped the bombshell that Spider-Man would be joining the Marvel cinematic universe, the initial assumption was he'd swing in to Captain America: Civil War for a cameo, steal a scene, and then swing back over to Sony for his own solo movie. But now that critics have gotten a chance to see Civil War, word has it Spidey's part it in is more substantial than just a gimmick cameo. He has apparently arrived into the MCU fully formed, and now when he swings back for his solo, he's bringing one of the biggest parts of the MCU with him. It's official, Robert Downey, Jr. will be in Spider-Man: Homecoming. As of right now no one is saying just how big of a role Tony Stark/Iron Man will have in the new movie. It likely isn't going to be... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Prince Has Passed Away at the Age of 57 Posted: 21 Apr 2016 04:50 PM PDT Few people left a mark on every facet of pop culture quite like Prince, the legendary artist who passed away today at age 57 of currently unknown causes. Most may think of him first and foremost as a musician, but some of our favorite movies simply would not be the same were it not for Prince. His iconic songs have infiltrated countless soundtracks since the early 1980s, from silly family movies like My Stepmother Is an Alien to romantic comedies like Pretty Woman and even modern action movies like The Equalizer. Tim Burton's Batman movie would not be quite as weird and quite as memorable were it not for Prince, whose music for Jack Nicholson's Joker often became the perfect, colorful bow that tied that character together on the big screen. And then of course... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Captain America: Civil War' Is Outselling All Previous Marvel Movies Posted: 21 Apr 2016 04:30 PM PDT At the start of the year, Fandango surveyed its vast user base to find out their most anticipated movies of 2016. Unsurprisingly Rogue One: A Star Wars Story took the overall top spot, and as excited as we all are for a new Star Wars, we've still got eight months of new movies to get excited about between now and then. And while massive blockbusters are coming out year round these days, the summer is still seen as king of the movie theater. With that in mind, Fandango took a poll confined only to summer releases and the results are basically a "Oh, yeah, I need to add that to my calendar" movie checklist. Most Anticipated Summer Action Movie: 1. Captain America: Civil War (May 6) 2. Independence Day... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Big Rumor Buzz: Who Might Replace Wolverine in the 'X-Men' Universe? Posted: 21 Apr 2016 03:00 PM PDT We know that Hugh Jackman is preparing to reprise his role as Logan, aka Wolverine, for the final time in the upcoming third stand-alone installment that will revolve around the character. But will that mean the end of Wolverine in the X-Men cinematic universe? A new rumor suggests otherwise. X-23 (above), a character that first appeared in a Marvel comic book in 2004, will appear in the third Wolverine movie, according to SuperHeroHype. X-23 is a clone of Wolverine, with similar "strength, reflexes, agility and a healing factor," and was later named Laura Kinney In the comics, X-23 "recently took on the mantle of Wolverine following the hero’s death." Naturally, that's led to speculation that X-23 could step in for Wolverine in future... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Posted: 21 Apr 2016 01:30 PM PDT Jungle Book: Filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity) will lend a hand on the Warner Bros. version of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. Andy Serkis is directing the project, which has completed production but recently saw its release date delayed from October 6, 2017 to October 19, 2018. Cuaron will "give notes on the project and see if there are ways to take the extra time to improve the picture." Serkis has already stated that he's "absolutely thrilled" with the delay. But I have some very different roles coming up.” She starred as Sarah Connor in... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Watch Matt Damon Destroy the Vegas Strip in New 'Jason Bourne' Trailer Posted: 21 Apr 2016 12:00 PM PDT They're calling it the craziest chase sequence ever featured in a Bourne movie, and if the finale of this new Jason Bourne trailer is any indication, Vegas will never be the same again. This summer, Bourne is most definitely back -- with Matt Damon reprising the role of Jason Bourne and Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum) back behind the camera. Though light on story details (apparently a Snowden-like hacking is what sets the plot in motion), there are plenty of fists, kicks and chases to warm your summer-movie lovin' hearts. Check it out below. For Bourne's latest mission, he's once again joined by Julia Stiles, with Tommy Lee Jones (who feels like a guy that's been in several Bourne movies already, right?), Oscar winner Alicia...
