See Emma Stone and Steve Carrell as Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs In 'Battle of the Sexes'

Posted: 13 Apr 2016 10:00 PM PDT

One of the things audiences look for in a biopic and other movies based on a true story is authenticity. They want to see actors transformed into the famous people they're playing. Sometimes they also favor exact replicas of actual photographs and film and TV scenes. Fox Searchlight aims for full interest with its first look, via The Hollywood Reporter, at the upcoming drama Battle of the Sexes. The movie, set in 1973, stars Emma Stone and Steve Carell as tennis legends Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. The two faced off in a monumental, highly watched match, and the above picture is from a scene where they announce the event in a press conference. The well-documented appearance of King, who was ranked second for women players at the time, and the then-retired Riggs, can be...

From Birdman to The Vulture? 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Wants Michael Keaton as a Villain

Posted: 13 Apr 2016 09:30 PM PDT

There has been a lot of Spider-Man news hitting this week, so let's just run down an order of events and see what kind of a conclusion seems reasonable. 1. Marvel Studios mastermind Kevin Feige tells us the next Spider-Man movie will have characters we've never seen on the big screen: "The great thing about the Spidey characters is that there are a lot of them. A lot of them have been in other films. A lot of them from the comics haven’t been in other films yet. We’ll do a combination of both." 2. Sony confirms the rumor that the next solo movie will be called Spider-Man: Homecoming. 3. BMD reports a rumor they heard that Spider-Man: Homecoming will have The Vulture as one of its villains. 4. Samuel L. Jackson on When Nick Fury Will Return to the Marvel Movies

Posted: 13 Apr 2016 09:00 PM PDT

It's been awhile since we've seen Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury show up in a Marvel movie. Well, okay it's been one year, though his presence in Avengers: Age of Ultron is pretty minimal and not very integral to the plot, like he was in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Fans may be bummed to hear that Fury isn't in Civil War, but when we caught up with Jackson at CinemaCon, where he was promoting this summer's The Legend of Tarzan, he clued us in to when we'll see the eye patch-wearin' former S.H.I.E.L.D. leader back with his old friends. "I think I'm in Avengers 3 and 4, but I'm not in Civil War," Jackson says, confirming Fury will be back for the two-part Avengers: Infinity War, which kicks off in 2018 and concludes in...

New 'Godzilla Resurgence' Trailer Stomps All Over Japan

Posted: 13 Apr 2016 08:00 PM PDT

Fans of 2014's Godzilla are going to have to wait for director Gareth Edwards to get done with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story before he can get started on his next Godzilla movie, which is currently scheduled for a June 8, 2018 release. But that doesn't mean we all have to wait another two years to see the giant monster rampage all over a city. Godzilla Resurgence is here to save the day...by destroying everything! Granted this movie from Japan's Toho Company has absolutely nothing to do with the story continuity of the American Godzilla, but we're guessing most people don't get excited for any new Godzilla movies because of their dense, intricate narratives or to explore the inner lives of their human characters. People just want to see giant monsters wreck...

Steven Spielberg and Mark Rylance Kick It Up to Four Movies With 'Ready Player One'

Posted: 13 Apr 2016 05:45 PM PDT

It took 24 years for Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford to make four movies together. It took 17 years for him to make four with Tom Hanks. It will only take 2 years for Spielberg to make four movies with Mark Rylance. Something must have seriously clicked between the two on the set of Bridge of Spies because Rylance has become his go-to guy for crucial supporting roles. Rylance went from that cold war drama (which would win him an Oscar)  to The BFG, and then just the other day it was revealed that he would be one of the stars of Spielberg's The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara. But before they even make that movie together, Rylance is sliding into Spielberg's current production, Ready Player One. The futuristic sci-fi movie is about an eccentric billionaire who...

Original 'Star Wars' Trilogy Returning to Theaters This Summer

Posted: 13 Apr 2016 01:30 PM PDT

Did you see Star Wars during its original theatrical release? The movie opened in just 32 theaters on May 25, 1977, and was an instant success, inspiring long lines -- some of us remember waiting for up to four hours on the first Saturday of its release --and soon expanded into many more locations. The original run officially ended on July 20, 1978, but the first rerelease began the very next day and the movie remained in theaters until early November 1978. It returned to theaters for a limited run on August 15, 1979, in advance of The Empire Strikes Back, which smashed into theaters in May 1980, and returned again on April 10, 1981, with a notable addition in the opening crawl: "Episode IV -- A New Hope." Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope - Opening Crawl on Disney...
