Posted: 14 Apr 2016 11:00 PM PDT Here are a bunch of little bites to satisfy your hunger for movie culture: Mashup Trailer of the Day: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story sounds like Mission: Impossible in space, so obviously someone did the trailer mashup for that: Mashup Poster of the Day: If you love both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Sicario, you might want a poster for the former that looks like this (via Live for Films): Supercut of the Day: Burger Fiction follows their video of before the kill one-liners with this list of the 100 greatest after the kill one-liners. Plenty of Arnold Schwarzenegger in this one, too: Vintage Image of the Day: Anthony Michael Hall, who was born on this day in 1968, with Molly Ringwald and a puppy during a break from filming... The Last Horror Blog: 'The Horde' and 'Scherzo Diabolico' Trailers, 'Death Note' News and More Posted: 14 Apr 2016 10:00 PM PDT Horror Movie News New short film reminds you that They’re Closing In – With filmmaking equipment more affordable and accessible than ever, it’s only natural that we’d start to see a proliferation of really amazing short genre films. And we have one for you today. This one comes from director Jarrett Blinkhorn, who offers up They’re Closing In. This tense five minute chiller finds a husband and wife trying to hold it together while under siege from what appear to be aliens. The short is more of a sketch than a full-fledged story, but it makes me interested to see how Blinkhorn could expand the idea into a feature. Check it out below. Get ready for Scherzo Diabolico with this new trailer – Schrezo Diabolico, the latest film from... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
AMC Theaters May Allow Texting In Some Cinemas Posted: 14 Apr 2016 09:00 PM PDT If you think texting should be allowed in movie theaters, you're probably pretty young. Or you're the new head of AMC Entertainment, Adam Aron. During CinemaCon, the company's CEO has been talking about plans he has for his growing chain, including the controversial possibility of appealing to the youth market by permitting cellphone use. "When you tell a 22-year-old to turn off the phone, don’t ruin the movie, they hear please cut off your left arm above the elbow," Aron told Variety. "You can’t tell a 22-year-old to turn off their cellphone. That’s not how they live their life." Don't worry, though. This isn't the end of the moviegoing experience as we (who are older than 22) know it. Aron wants all his customers... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Jason Statham Is Going To Fight a Dinosaur Shark for the Director of '3 Ninjas' Posted: 14 Apr 2016 07:30 PM PDT There was a time when giant monster movies were somewhat mainstream. These days they pretty much just go straight to the Syfy channel. Sure, every now and then a Jurassic World or a Godzilla sneaks out into the wild, but for the most part people, and studios, just don't take the genre of man vs really big animal very seriously. When Sharknado and Sharktopus can be made for next to nothing and still be super popular, why bother spending top dollar for a wide, theatrical-worthy movie? Maybe that's why Meg has had such a hard time getting made. It's been nearly 20 years since Steve Alten wrote his first book about a prehistoric,Tyrannosaurus rex-eating Megalodon shark that gets discovered still living at the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Various filmmakers have all... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
James Cameron Declares 'Avatar' Is Now Up to Four Sequels Instead of Three Posted: 14 Apr 2016 06:00 PM PDT In the years since its release, Avatar has become somewhat of a punching bag. It blew a lot of minds, made a ton of money, and set records all over the world that still haven't been broken, but it also didn't leave a Star Wars-sized dent on the pop culture consciousness. Kids don't dress up like Na'vi at Halloween. Toy store aisles aren't overflowing with giant blue aliens. It's a movie that conquered, but then didn't really seem to convert. Part of the reason for that is Avatar just didn't merchandise itself nearly as much as Star Wars or superhero movies, but another big reason is that it came out over six years ago and we still haven't gotten a sequel to it. James Cameron has announced franchise plans a number of times, but they never... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'The Neon Demon' Trailer: The Director of 'Drive' Turns High Fashion Into a Horror Movie Posted: 14 Apr 2016 04:03 PM PDT Drive is kind of like the cinematic equivalent of that old scary story kids tell about someone who adopted a Chihuahua because they thought it was cute, only to later realize it was actually a sewer rat that attacks them in the middle of the night. It's a movie that deceives with a very precise sound and look, it tricks the audience into thinking it's not actually twisted to the core. That's probably why a lot of people who were only into the style of Drive went and saw Nicolas Winding Refn's follow-up film, Only God Forgives, and came away really confused and weirded out. Only God Forgives is certainly stylish, but it's not hiding its true nature quite like Drive. It's openly twisted. This is all to say that Refn's new movie, The Neon Demon... Here's How Much Batman We'll See in 'Suicide Squad' Posted: 14 Apr 2016 03:00 PM PDT Now that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has introduced the beginning of DC's new cinematic universe, we can properly start obsessing over how, exactly, they're going to tie all of these movies together. Good news is we don't have to wait long to get a bigger taste of DC's cinematic-universe pie as Suicide Squad drops this August 5. But just how does Suicide Squad connect to Batman v Superman, or next year's Justice League for that matter? With the entire Squad (and their mighty director, David Ayer) in Las Vegas promoting the film at CinemaCon, we had a chance to go one-on-one with a few of them in search of more answers. Like how big a role Ben Affleck's Batman plays in the film. "Just the right amount," says director David Ayer... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Alden Ehrenreich Is Front-Runner to Play Han Solo Posted: 14 Apr 2016 01:30 PM PDT Harrison Ford had been acting for 10 years before Star Wars catapulted him to stardom in 1977. Sure, he made an impression as hot-rodder Bob Falfa in American Graffiti, directed by George Lucas, and was menacing as a mysterious agent in Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation, but he didn't break out until he potrayed the intrepid Han Solo. Will the upcoming spin-off movie revolving around a young Han Solo do the same for its star? The movie will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street), based on a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan, and the casting process has been underway for months, with thousands of candidates under consideration. In January, we heard that eight actors had made the shortlist for the role, a list that was... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
