| Joe Lewis’ ‘Force: Five’ forces its way onto Blu-ray! Posted: 20 Apr 2016 12:40 AM PDT  Force: Five | Blu-ray (Scorpion Releasing) Scorpion Releasing has just announced the Blu-ray release for 1981′s Force: Five, a martial arts cult classic directed by Robert Clouse (Enter the Dragon, The Big Brawl). In the film, a martial arts expert (Joe Lewis) leads a team of fighters to rescue a senator’s daughter from an island ruled by the evil leader (Bong Soo Han) of a fanatical religious cult. Force: Five also stars Richard Norton (Mission Terminate), Benny “The Jet” Urquidez (Wheels on Meals), Mel Novak (Game of Death) and Sonny Barnes (Gymkata). | Renny Harlin and Jackie Chan’s ‘Skiptrace’ gets a new trailer! Posted: 20 Apr 2016 12:38 AM PDT  "Skiptrace" Chinese Teaser Poster Jackie Chan is teaming up with director Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2) for Skiptrace, an upcoming action-comedy about a detective from Hong Kong (Jackie Chan) who teams up with an American gambler (Johnny Knoxville) to battle against a notorious Chinese criminal. Skiptrace also stars Fan Bingbing (The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom), WWE’s Eve Torres (The Scorpion King 4: Quest for Power), Michael Wong (Zombie Fight Club) and Eric Tsang (The Last Blood). According to Deadline, Saban Films has nabbed U.S. distribution rights and plans to release the film in theaters by the end of the year. Until, check out a making of featurette. | A ‘Cosby’ joins Van Damme’s ‘Jean-Claude Van Johnson’ Posted: 20 Apr 2016 12:28 AM PDT  "Welcome to the Jungle" Japanese Theatrical Poster Scott Free Productions – a company founded by brothers Ridley (Alien) and the late Tony Scott (True Romance) – has developed an Amazon original series for Jean-Claude Van Damme (Pound of Flesh) titled Jean Claude Van Johnson, a comedy that’s along the lines of Van Damme’s semi-reality themed JCVD (2008). According to THR, Jean-Claude Van Johnson will star Van Damme as a version of himself — a famous actor and martial-arts pro who comes out of retirement to resume his alter-ego: an undercover private contractor by the name of Jean-Claude Van Johnson. The comedy-action thriller will see Johnson’s cover as the lead role in a reimagined action film version of Huckleberry Finn that lands him back in the midst of the danger he secretly always craves. It also brings him back in the orbit of Vanessa, his fellow operative and the love of his life that got away. Ridley Scott says Jean Claude Van Johnson will “show the martial arts and film star in a new light that would surprise fans.” Dave Callaham, producer of the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot, serves as both writer and executive producer of the series. Shooting for Jean Claude Van Johnson begins in May. This isn’t the first time Van Damme is visiting television and comedy. In 2011 came Jean-Claude Van Damme: Behind Closed Doors, a 2011 Fly on the wall-style reality show that aired on United Kingdom’s ITV4. In 2013, the martial arts star successfully showcased his comedy chops in Welcome to the Jungle. Other Van Damme projects supposedly in the works include Antwerp Heist, The Penrose Affair and The Tower. His long-awaited, unreleased Eagle Path (aka Full Love) is rumored to be finally getting a release this year. We’ll keep you updated on Jean Claude Van Johnson as we hear more! Updates: New casting details have emerged! Impact reports that Kat Foster (Rebirth) will play Vanessa, the beautiful femme fatale and super spy who stole Van Johnson's heart and whose cover is as a movie hair-stylist. Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show) will play Jane Hardy, Jean-Claude's agent and also the head of the Secret organization that he and Vanessa worked for. Moises Arias (The Kings of Summer) will play a young secret agent who works with Vanessa. |
