The 10 Best Judd Apatow Characters

Posted: 16 Jul 2015 09:00 PM PDT

Trainwreck may be written by Amy Schumer, but the film slides right into the canon of director Judd Apatow, sharing many of the same themes and concepts as his previous work. Once again, here's a tale of a lovable loser who learns to grow up and embrace family and responsibility. Of course, she does so with the help of a colorful cast of characters who could easily be the subject of their own films. And that's always a constant with Apatow's work: every character, no matter how small, leaps off the screen. They feel all-too-real, even when they're being uproariously funny. Trainwreck includes a number of great characters, but do any of them make the list of the 10 best characters in Judd Apatow films? Read on and find out.   Clarke The Actor: Eric...

Comics on Film: The Awesome Little Details in the New 'Batman v Superman' and 'Suicide Squad' Trailers

Posted: 16 Jul 2015 07:00 PM PDT

Last week at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Warner Bros. blew the roof off of Hall H with their presentation highlighting their upcoming DC Comics films. Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is releasing in March, and we got a new trailer that’s shown more of that film than we’ve ever seen before, and we also got our first-ever look at Suicide Squad, releasing that August. The thing that was so joyful about seeing both of these new trailers, as a lifelong fan of DC Comics, was seeing the DC Universe come to life on a grand, sweeping scale. While it was thrilling to see two trailers that featured characters like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Amanda Waller, Deadshot, Killer Croc, Harley Quinn...

Apocalypse, Storm and Psylocke Get Colorful in First Look at the Next 'X-Men' Movie

Posted: 16 Jul 2015 04:45 PM PDT

When Bryan Singer's X-Men hit theaters in 2000, one of the big issues among fans was how the movie more or less abandoned all of the character costume designs from the comic books, trading their vibrant colors for shiny black costumes that were all the rage thanks to The Matrix. It's not that Wolverine looked bad in black, he just didn't look exactly like he did in the comics. Now we've seemingly come full circle, with the next issue of Entertainment Weekly offering a first look at the new characters in Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse. Their costumes aren't afraid to be colorful and weird and, in some cases, remarkably faithful to their comic counterparts. And as a result, they may look a little, well, weird and colorful, but it's cool because...

Meet the Adorable Robot Designed by a Pixar Employee

Posted: 16 Jul 2015 03:00 PM PDT

Of course there's an adorable robot who hangs out at the Pixar Animation Studios. Nobody could possiby be surprised by the story of Mira, a spherical droid designed by Pixar technical director Alonso Martinez in collaboration with Aaron Nathan and Vijay Sundaram. Martinez intended for her to be a desktop companion, but she's now here to entertain the world with her cute games of peek-a-boo with her creator. Watch a recent demonstration:   Obviously a robot involved with Pixar is going to make us think of the studio's beloved movie Wall-E. Mira provides a link, then, between that movie and this year's Pixar release, Inside Out. Right now she responds playfully, through face-tracking technology, as being either sad or joyful, depending on the...

Awesome 'Ant-Man' Promotion Features Ant-sized Movie Tickets Hidden Throughout UK Cities

Posted: 16 Jul 2015 01:30 PM PDT

It may be one of the tiniest movie promotions in history, but it's one that should have a lot of UK residents excited. With Marvel's Ant-Man poised to arrive in UK (and US) cinemas on July 17, fans are on the hunt for one of 100 IMAX tickets that have been hidden across three UK cities: London, Manchester and Birmingham.  There's a catch, though -- the tickets are not normal tickets. They're ant-sized tickets. They are, indeed, the world's smallest movie tickets. Even though they're tiny in size, the tickets are still valid and fans can find clues as to their whereabouts on IMAX's Twitter page, @IMAX. Happy hunting!   #IMAX #IMAXantman #manchester stuggling to read this ticket! Good thing I got a magnifying glass too...
