The studio is hoping for similar success with the upcoming Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action film reboot, which arrives in a month; a couple weeks before then, however, Paramount is going to unleash a new Hercules movie (starring Dwayne Johnson), in order to keep the cash flowing as Summer 2014 continues on. TMNT, as illustrated by the above “Family” TV spot, is a flashy contemporary take on the property generated in the 1980s – one directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans), but with the stylized action and broad PG-13 humor that’ve become strongly associated with Bay’s Transformers movies. Weekend Box Office: 'Transformers' Beats 'Tammy' Over Weak July 4th Weekend Posted: JAKE COYLE, AP Film Writer NEW YORK (AP) - "Transformers: Age of Extinction" beat out Melissa McCarthy's "Tammy" on a weak July 4th weekend at the box office. According to studio estimates Sunday, the fourth "Transformers" film made $36.4 million in its second week of release. It's a steep drop for the Paramount Pictures sequel, which had the year's biggest debut last weekend with $100 million. The New Line comedy "Tammy," released by Warner Bros., took in $21.2 million in its opening weekend, well below expectations. The Midwest road trip romp opened on Wednesday, and had a $32.9 million gross over its first five days.
