Moody first image from Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice lands online

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 03:05 AM PDT

A rain-lashed still from Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice has landed online featuring a decidedly soggy Supes.

It's the first official still from the movie, though a behind-the-scenes shot of Henry Cavill in Clark Kent mode was unveiled earlier this week.

Check out the full image below...

With its dark skies, heavy downpour and that furrowed brow, it certainly looks like Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel follow-up will be sticking to the 'sequels must be darker' rule.

Is Superman's suit rainproof? We certainly hope so.

The image was released via USA Today, who also chatted with Snyder about the superhero smash-up, which is currently shooting.

"We've both created this guy and we can push him around a little bit," he tells them of working with Cavill. "The more time I spend with Henry, the more he's Superman to me."

On the film's scale, he adds: "You can talk all you want about other superhero movies, but it's Batman and Superman, let's just be honest. I don't know how you get bigger than that."

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice opens on 6 May 2016.

Vin Diesel talks up Guardians Of The Galaxy's family appeal

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 12:05 AM PDT

Vin Diesel has apparently seen a finished version of Guardians Of The Galaxy, and has been raving about the film's fun-for-all-the-family appeal.

The star, who voices the sentient tree known as Groot, took his young family to see a special screening of the film, and was blown away by how inclusive it is...

"My youngest who is 3 yrs old, has never been to a movie theatre before in his life," said Diesel via Facebook. "Today, I was invited by Disney and Marvel to see the latest cut of Guardians Of The Galaxy and I was able to take the angels. WOW!!!!!"

"To Marvel, Disney, the incredible cast and team and especially James Gunn… Thank you for making a GREAT MOVIE! It was amazing and will always be special, for it was the first film I was able to take my family to see and oh how they loved it."

That's some nice salesmanship from Diesel there, who pleasingly signed off the post with his new catchphrase, "I AM GROOT!!!" Yes you are, sir. Yes you are.

Directed by James Gunn and co-starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper, Guardians Of The Galaxy will open in the UK on 1 August 2014.

Tina Fey responds to Hocus Pocus rumours

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 12:02 AM PDT

Yesterday saw us giddily reporting the news that Tina Fey was set to develop a sequel to supernatural comedy Hocus Pocus, but apparently the Hollywood rumour mill has got the wrong end of the stick.

While Fey is indeed working on a supernatural comedy, it will be an entirely original project, with no Hocus Pocus links save the fact that it will fall under Disney's umbrella.

According to Fey's representatives, the new project will adopt a similar tone to Ghostbusters, and will see Fey take the starring role as some sort of sorceress.

Fey will also be producing alongside Allison Shearmur, with the film currently operating under the catchy working title, Untitled Witch Project.

As for a Hocus Pocus sequel, it seems that nothing is happening on that front at Disney, although given the level of excitement that greeted yesterday's news, perhaps that will change in the near future…

Sherlock Christmas special confirmed for 2015

Posted: 02 Jul 2014 11:59 PM PDT

Earlier this week, Martin Freeman suggested that our next dose of Sherlock would come in the form of a Christmas special, with Deadline now confirming that that episode will be along in December 2015.

According to the report, Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch's busy schedules mean that the special will not shoot before January 2015, with the episode to be released at the end of the year.

Happily for fans of the show, that won't be where the fun stops, as a new series of three 90-minute episodes is also scheduled to follow the special episode, and is set to arrive at some point in 2016.

Deadline suggests that the new instalments will shoot later in 2015, with creator Steven Moffat jokingly referring to the three-episode series as "a record-breaking run".

"We're ready to unleash the most shocking and surprising series of Sherlock yet," confirmed the BBC yesterday. "The only thing to expect is the unexpected." The game's afoot…

Channing Tatum and Steve Carell star in new Foxcatcher trailer: watch now

Posted: 02 Jul 2014 11:56 PM PDT

A new trailer has arrived for psychological drama Foxcatcher, in which Channing Tatum's amateur wrestler prepares to push himself to the limits in his pursuit of Olympic Gold.

Spurring him on is Steve Carell's unnerving mentor, the eccentric millionaire John du Pont, a figure that Tatum's brother, Mark Ruffalo, is rightly suspicious of.

Ruffalo is the golden boy of the family, and this could be Tatum's big chance to step out of his shadow once and for all. But what game is the manipulative Du Pont really playing…?

Take a look at the new trailer, below…

Pretty intense stuff, we think you'll agree, with Tatum looking to have produced a particularly impressive turn. And then there's Carell, stealing his scenes with genuinely creepy panache…

Based on a true story and directed by Bennett Miller, Foxcatcher will open in the UK on  25 December 2014.

Cameron Diaz gets her skates on in first clip from Sex Tape: watch now

Posted: 02 Jul 2014 11:48 PM PDT

The first clip has arrived online for Sex Tape, in which Cameron Diaz channels Rollergirl, much to the delight of a slack-jawed Jason Segel.

The new clip sets the scene nicely for the night of passion that will prompt Segel to reach for his iPad and record the whole episode for posterity.

Unfortunately for both of them, he's forgotten to disconnect from the web, and so as soon as he stops filming, he somehow manages to upload the video to the Cloud, where anyone can access it…

Take a look at the new clip, below...

Segel certainly has that breathless teenager routine down to a fine art, although presented with Ms. Diaz in that outfit, it's tricky to envisage a more appropriate reaction.

Directed by Jake Kasdan and co-starring Rob Lowe, Ellie Kemper and Rob Corddry, Sex Tape will open in the UK on 3 September 2014.

Before I Go To Sleep poster debuts online

Posted: 02 Jul 2014 08:16 AM PDT

We've got our hands exclusively on the first poster for psychological thriller Before I Go To Sleep.

And it's as moody as you'd expect from the best-selling novel.

The plot finds Nicole Kidman as a woman who wakes up every day remembering nothing - the result of a traumatic accident in her past - until one day, new terrifying truths emerge that force her to question everyone around her.

Things get messy - and starry, as you can see from our poster below, which boasts Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Mark Strong in fine starey form.

Before I Go To Sleep hits UK cinemas 5 September 2014.
