Matthew Vaughn Hopes to Break His Sequel Rule and Direct 'Kingsman 2'

Posted: 11 Jun 2015 09:00 PM PDT

Matthew Vaughn has directed entries in franchises before (X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass), but he's never directed a sequel to one of his own movies before. Even his directorial debut Layer Cake, which we recently learned would get a sequel, will have its follow-up directed by somebody else. But apparently that may change with Kingsman: The Secret Service. While doing a video interview for this week's Blu-ray and DVD release of Kingsman, Vaughn was asked a number of questions about a Kingsman 2 and as it turns out, the actual interview was interrupting him writing the screenplay for Kingsman 2. There is a catch, though. Vaughn only wants to make the movie if the screenplay is good enough. So while all of his answers are encouraging for fans who would love...

'Zootopia' Trailer: Disney Animation's Next Swaps All Humans for Adorable Animals

Posted: 11 Jun 2015 07:00 PM PDT

This year Disney will release Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, which imagines a world where dinosaurs are the most civilized species on Earth. But one movie about animals starting their own societies isn't enough, and so next year we'll also be getting Zootopia. From the Disney Animation Studios team behind Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph, Zootopia goes one step further than The Good Dinosaur and presents a world where there are no people whatsoever. How will it work? The first teaser trailer explains. So, as it turns out, it's actually pretty simple. Animals walk upright, they talk, and they've got human jobs, only they still have their animal personalities. And since that teaser doesn't touch on the actual plot at all, here's the official...

Watch: First Teaser for 'A Deadly Adoption,' Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig's Lifetime Movie

Posted: 11 Jun 2015 05:30 PM PDT

Update 6/11/15: The first TV spot for A Deadly Adoption is now online and embedded below. It'll air on Lifetime on June 20, 2015.   Previously: Cable television is an interesting place right now and part of that might be because of threats to its traditional models, what with HBO offering a la carte services and various VOD and streaming alternatives available on the internet. Networks have always made significant programming and branding changes in order to embrace broader and evolving audience tastes. That's why MTV doesn't play music and IFC isn't about indie film and now why Lifetime is apparently full-on embracing its reputation for campy TV movies.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, none other than Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have secretly...

Chiwetel Ejiofor to Play 'Doctor Strange' Villain Baron Mordo

Posted: 11 Jun 2015 04:25 PM PDT

It was revealed back in January that Chiwetel Ejiofor, who recently gave a true powerhouse performance in 12 Years a Slave, was circling a key role in Marvel's Doctor Strange. What the role would be, however, was still speculative.  Well, speculate no more! Deadline has revealed that Ejiofor will be playing classic Doctor Strange enemy Baron Mordo. It's still unclear what, if any, storyline from the comics Scott Derrickson's movie will be adapting, but in the early days of Doctor Strange Mordo was another one of the pupils learning the ways of magic from The Ancient One (recently cast as Tilda Swinton). He becomes a bit more interested in the darker side of the mystical arts, though, and plots to kill The Ancient One. Strange tries to foil his plot, and in...

NSFW 'The Overnight' Trailer Is What Happens When Parents Get Out of Control

Posted: 11 Jun 2015 03:00 PM PDT

The Overnight premiered at Sundance earlier this year, which is where our own Erik Davis saw it and gave it the highly prestigous, highly specific award for The Funniest Comedy About Sex and Marriage. Here's what he had to say back then: Adam Scott and Taylor Schilling star as a sweet married couple with a young child who just moved to Los Angeles and are in need of some new friends. Enter Jason Schwartzman and Judith Godrèche, a fun, free-spirited couple who invite Scott and Schilling to their house for a playdate after the two couples meet at a kids birthday party. What begins as an innocent dinner with friends quickly devolves into an all-nighter full of booze, drugs, skinny dipping and... well, we're not going to tell you everything. The Overnight is...

'Dracula' and 'Lord of the Rings' Star Christopher Lee Is Dead at 93

Posted: 11 Jun 2015 01:30 PM PDT

Legendary actor Christopher Lee has passed away at the age of 93. The beloved actor, who spent his earlier years frightening audiences in vintage Hammer horror movies like Dracula before going on to star as the central villain in major franchises like Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, died after being hospitalized due to respiratory problems. Your relationship with Lee's work probably depends on what era you grew up in. His career began in the mid-40s, with ongoing roles in classic gothic horror films like The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), Horror of Dracula (1958), The Mummy (1959), Crypt of the Vampire (1964) and more. These roles -- along with his iconic Dracula, a part he played well into the 1970s -- are what truly marked him as one of cinema's greatest...
