Recap of 'Pretty Little Liars' Season 6 Episode 2: The Girls Are Back In Town

Posted:

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS -
Last week, the ladies of "Pretty Little Liars" were casually locked in a pen by an insane stalker who may or not be Alison DiLaurentis' long-lost brother, and now they're suffering from PTSD back in Rosewood (aka HELL ON EARTH). This week, the liars revealed what exactly went on while they were in captivity, and -- more importantly -- Ali got herself a new love interest. Here's to hoping he doesn't turn out to be a serial killer / ritualistic stalker of teenagers.

The Liars Deal With Life Post-Captivity, Go Slightly Insane While Doing So

Now that the liars' parents are finally clued in to the whole A thing, they're super concerned about their children -- and they have every reason to be. During the first days post-captivity, the liars basically lose their minds: Emily starts shooting guns and wearing her dad's military uniform (yikes, friend), Aria becomes a compulsive liar, Hanna's unable to sleep in her bedroom, and Alison finds God (not to be confused with Beyonce). Oh, and we can't forget about Spencer, who might get re-addicted to anti-anxiety pills any day now.

We also get some flashbacks about what the liars went through while trapped by A. Turns out this maniac "played games with them," forced them to listen to the sounds of people being tortured, deprived them of water, and was basically a huge jerk.

Oh, and for the Ezra and Aria shippers out there, good news: these two are totally making eyes at each other again. After all, now that Aria's current stalker is in jail, there's no reason she shouldn't fall back into the arms of her former stalker!

Andrew Campbell Is Arrested -- But Is He A? Given This Show's History, Probably Not

The Rosewood police continue to be terrible at everything, and this week they decide that Andrew Campbell is A. The police haul Andrew in after finding a bunch of spy equipment on his property -- not to mention a diary entry about how he thinks the liars "represent the feminization of society." Ummmmm ... okay then. Unfortunately, all the evidence against Andrew is circumstantial, so Aria decides it's probably a good idea to lie about seeing his face in the bunker. Spoiler alert: it's not a good idea.

Meanwhile, Alison is stressed because she may or may not have a secret brother named Charles DiLaurentis who's trying to kill her, so she confronts her dad about it. The bad news is that she gets nowhere with her dad, who has to be the creepiest man alive. Major A vibes on that old timer. The good news is that Ali might have a new love interest! Meet Lorenzo, Toby's new crime-solving partner who -- like Ali -- attends church. Match made in literal heaven!

There's A New Little Liar In Town!
Wondering what the deal is with Sarah Harvey, the other girl found in A's bunker? Turns out she ran away from home two years ago and was promptly kidnapped by A. Running away must be her thing, because it isn't long before Sarah turns up at Emily's house and claims that her mom wants nothing to do with her. Guess this foursome is about to become a quintet!
Have burning questions? So do we:

1. Is Andrew A, and if not, why was he spying on the liars?
2. Ummmm, why do the liars "represent the feminization of society"? Explain yourself, Andrew.
3. Who is Charles DiLaurentis, and why is Ali's dad being so cagey about him?

Kimmy's Mom Is Coming to Season 2 of 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt'

Posted:

A mysterious new character will join the cast of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" for its upcoming second season: Kimmy's mom.

For now, no one knows much about the woman, and that includes the series' titular star, Ellie Kemper. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kemper filled in some blanks about the so-far-unseen woman, who abandoned her family after Kimmy was kidnapped and kept in an underground bunker for 15 years.

"What I know about her is that she wore short skirts and maybe wasn't the most attentive mother so it might be a sad revelation who the mother was," Kemper told THR. "[Kimmy] didn't really have a family to go back to so I'm interested to know who that mom will be. I have a feeling whatever sadness is there will be dealt with a humorous way."

As for who might be playing the former Mrs. Schmidt, Kemper declined to name any specific names, though she did give a couple sweet shout-outs to two women.

"Joan Cusack played my mom in the series finale of 'The Office' which was amazing. That was great casting," the actress told the trade. "I'm not going to name any other woman because what if a woman gets insulted that I said they could play my mom? So I'll just name my mom, Dotty Kemper."

"Kimmy" executive producer Jack Burditt, who also worked with series co-creator Tina Fey on "30 Rock," also spoke to THR about season two, and alluded to the fact that they'd like more "30 Rock" alums to appear on the show. We'd be pretty pumped to see someone from that world (maybe Julianne Moore?) pop up as Kimmy's mom.

Season two of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" shoots this summer. New episodes are tentatively scheduled to arrive in early 2016.

A 'Frozen' Ride Is Coming to Disney World's Epcot Center Next Year

Posted:

FrozenWalt Disney World isn't about to let go of its most popular property in ages: A new "Frozen" ride is coming to Epcot Center in 2016.

The Walt Street Journal reports that the new attraction, dubbed Frozen Ever After, will take up residence in the Norway pavilion, where it replaces the Maelstrom ride. The former attraction's floating log ride will stay intact, but will be redesigned to focus on the "Frozen" characters, featuring music from the flick and special appearances by Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Krisoff, and Sven, among others.

"Frozen" songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez have penned new lyrics to tunes from the film (though no new songs), and characters such as Marshmallow the snow monster and the proprietor of Oaken's Trading Post will interact with guests. "The setting for 'Frozen Ever After' is the winter festival that takes place in summer," says WSJ of the attraction's concept, "when residents of Arendelle apparently celebrate their favorite season of the year in the midst of its polar opposite."

WSJ's report includes a detailed rundown of all the different characters and scenes guests can expect from the ride, including a showstopping sequence that features "Elsa, on a balcony, singing 'Let It Go' in her ice castle. It's the centerpiece of the ride, 'the big, big scene,' [Imagineering creative executive Kathy] Mangum said, and it features elaborate effects to create simulated snow crystals soaring around the room."

"What we try to do is take you back to the movie without retelling that story," Magnum told WSJ. "This is a celebration of the characters, a way for guests who love the film to experience it in a completely different way."

Frozen Ever After was first conceived before "Frozen" even hit theaters in November 2013, but was fast-tracked after the film's blockbuster box office success. It's currently scheduled to open sometime in 2016.

Here's the First Look at the New 'Powerpuff Girls'

Posted:

powerpuff girls, new powerpuff girlsThe new "Powerpuff Girls" are here, and while they don't look much different from their predecessors, they'll have a new sound.

Cartoon Network has unveiled the first image from the rebooted series, and also announced who would be voicing the titular trio of pint-sized superheroes: Amanda Leighton will play Blossom, Kristen Li will play Bubbles, and Natalie Palamides will play Buttercup. Tom Kenny, who played the Narrator/Mayor in the first series, will reprise his role on the new show.

The creative team behind the reimagined "Powerpuff" includes "Adventure Time" vet Nick Jennings, and the network noted that many of the artists and writers behind the new version grew up watching the original, which ran on CN for 78 episodes starting in 1998. A standalone movie, "The Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed," aired on Cartoon Network in 2014.

"It has been wonderful to see this new show team bring such passion and positive creative spirit to this iconic property," said Rober Sorcher, Chief Content Officer at Cartoon Network, in a statement. "We know that fans of every age will appreciate this new take on saving the world before bedtime."

"The Powerpuff Girls" is slated to return to airwaves sometime in 2016. Check out the full first photo below.

'Sesame Street' Takes on 'Jurassic Park' in New Parody

Posted:

jurassic park, sesame street, cookie monster, sesame street parodyWhat do you get when you combine Cookie Monster with "Jurassic Park"? Jurassic Cookie, naturally.

That's the latest hilarious parody from the pop culture-loving kids program "Sesame Street," which reimagines the big blue puppet as a John Hammond-type, attempting to turn a fragment of a prehistoric cookie stuck in amber into a real, giant, T-rex-size cookie. Just like in "Jurassic Park," though, Cookie's plan doesn't exactly pan out, as his T-rex/gingerbread man hybrid breaks free and terrorizes the monster and his grandchildren.

There's a bunch of clever winks to the 1993 flick -- and its upcoming sequel, "Jurassic World" -- including a tense scene set in a kitchen in which Cookie and the kids have to outsmart the edible dino, and a race past a dinosaur skeleton made out of cookie fragments. ("First time cookie ever tried to eat me!" a confused Cookie Monster declares.) The tables turn for the creature, though, when the monster gets a whiff of the giant cookie's gingerbread, and gives chase himself.

Check out the adorable clip below. (You might want to have some cookies onhand, as a deep craving for the confections is likely to ensue.)

'Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2' Trailer Promises Thrilling End to Saga

Posted:

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 - Trailer No. 2

"Ladies and gentleman, welcome to the 76th Hunger Games."

The breathtaking, action-packed first trailer for "Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" shows that Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has many difficult obstacles to overcome in her battle to take down President Snow (Donald Sutherland). There are bombs and booby traps - not unlike an actual Hunger Games competition, as Finnick (Sam Claflin) darkly notes above.

The trailer starts with wistful, lovely shots from Finnick and Annie's wedding, but soon turns its focus to war, as Katniss urges her fellow citizens to "turn your weapons to the Capital." Snow isn't going down without shedding some blood, however, and not everybody close to Katniss may survive.

"Mockingjay - Part 2" concludes the blockbuster "Hunger Games" film saga. Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, and Julianne Moore all reprise their previous role. The movie opens in theaters November 20.

The Sexual Revolution Is Here in 'Masters of Sex' Season 3 Trailer

Posted:

Masters of SexIt's 1966 and the sexual revolution is heating up - thanks, in part, to the stunning sex study completed by Bill Masters and Virginia Johnson.

Season 3 of Showtime's "Masters of Sex" begins five years after last year's finale, with collaborators/lovers Bill (Michael Sheen) and Virginia (Lizzy Caplan) ready to take their published study on the road.

Still in the picture is Bill's wife, Libby (Caitlin Fitzgerald), though she seems to have undergone her own sexual awakening over the years. As the trailer shows, she was always curious about "what it felt like ... with you" - meaning Libby!

This season introduces a major new character played by former "Good Wife" star Josh Charles. Daniel Logan is a businessman looking to sell the "smell of sex" in a bottle, and his relationship to the couple - particularly Virginia - becomes complicated. We'll also meet Virginia's parents, as played by Frances Fisher and Michael O'Keefe.

"Masters of Sex" season 3 premieres Sunday, July 12 at 10 p.m. on Showtime.

Trainor started out in the movie business as a producer's assistant, which is how she met her eventual husband, the director Robert Zemeckis. After they married in 1980, Zemeckis cast her in "Romancing the Stone" as Kathleen Turner's kidnapped sister.

Best of Late Night TV: James Corden's Must-See Nuzzle Game, Fallon's Quadruple Crown Race

Posted:

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.

Nick Offerman, Ellie Kemper, and Thomas Middleditch were on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" Monday night, and they seemed to have a lot of fun -- when not being traumatized by having to nuzzle a snake (Nick) and a sumo wrestler (Ellie). Here they discuss -- and demonstrate -- who is the best fake smoker: And here's the fun -- but scary -- game called "Nuzzle Waaa?" where everyone had to be blindfolded and then nuzzle something and be the first to shout out what it was. James and Ellie were partners opposite Nick and Thomas. What's worse -- the snake or the sumo guy? The sumo guy seemed to enjoy it, like he was being lightly tickled. Not sure how the snake felt. We know how Ellie felt, since she looked like she wanted to bolt! Now watch them in "Talking Mentalist" when they're supposed to be talking about "The Mentalist" but they showed a "CSI" show instead: Over on "The Tonight Show," Jimmy Fallon raced around the studio in mini motorcycles with Triple Crown winning American Pharoah jockey Victor Espinoza. It's kind of hilarious that Victor went the wrong way and Jimmy had to wait for him so Victor could win and be declared the first Quadruple Crown Race winner. "Seinfeld" powerhouses Larry David and Jason Alexander were also on "The Tonight Show." They discussed being on Broadway, and shattering box office records. Larry brought up how he never saw Jimmy backstage. They debated the merits of backstage chit-chat. Fallon kind of overdoes it in front of these two, but he's a gusher.Jimmy also did some screengrabs, sent in from fans: Edie Falco was on "Late Night with Seth Meyers." She has a big finale coming up (for "Nurse Jackie"), which is her second big finale after "The Sopranos," and she discussed how random people come up to her all the time to say "What the hell was that?!" and she knows they're talking about the "Sopranos" finale.
George Wallace was also on Seth's show and discussed his epic road trip with "best friend" Jerry Seinfeld. Tim Robbins was on "Conan" and he talked about the recent prison escapes, which were called "Shawshank"-like. Because of the movie, whenever people escape from jail, some people seem to want Tim to comment. He also discussed political power, in reference to his new HBO show "The Brink." Marc Maron was also on "Conan," talking about not masturbating in the shower during a drought, as the "unspoken cause" to help the environment, and his increasingly hipster neighborhood.
