Chris Pratt to Play the Indiana Jones of Booze Smuggling

Posted: 15 Apr 2015 09:30 PM PDT

If nothing ever comes of the rumors that Chris Pratt could take over the role of Indiana Jones, at least he continues to add similar adventuring characters to his resume. His part as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy was clearly modeled on Jones, crossed with Han Solo for a mash-up of Harrison Ford's iconic heroes. Now he's set to play a real-life bootlegger who sounds like a much more grounded mix of those two fictional figures.  The historical subject is William 'Bill' McCoy -- not to be confused with the Will McCoy who has done digitlal effects on Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies -- and the title of the movie is The Real McCoy. Contrary to what The Hollywood Reporter claims in their posting of this news, the phrase is not named for the non-drinking...

How New Movie Tech Let Me Swap Bodies With Someone at a Film Festival

Posted: 15 Apr 2015 08:22 PM PDT

Long live the body-swapping movie! From mothers who swap bodies with their daughters (Freaky Friday) to married men who swap bodies with their hard-partying single friends (The Change-Up), audiences seem to have a thing for stories involving people who can literally live in the body of someone else, even if it's just for a brief time. Well... what if you could do that for real? Okay, maybe not really real, but virtually real. If you could put on a virtual reality headset and be transported into the body of another person, would you do it? That's just one of the concepts being explored at this year's Tribeca Film Festival in their Storyscapes section, a slate of projects designed to be interactive and cutting edge while continually pushing the creative...

Newest 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Trailer is An Awesome Trip Back in Time

Posted: 15 Apr 2015 06:27 PM PDT

At this point whoever Warner Bros. hired to cut the trailers for Mad Max: Fury Road is just showing off. They know they keep knocking it out of the park each and every time, and their latest is basically running a victory lap. And the particularly cool thing about it is that it doesn't even have a ton of new footage in it. Truth is, there's going to be a ton of people who walk into movie theaters on May 15, 2015 and buy tickets for Fury Road without even knowing that there are three other Mad Max movies. And it's not exactly their fault. The last Mad Max movie came out in 1985. People who were teenagers when it came out are now old enough to have their own teenagers who are just now turning old enough to see R-rated movies on their own. But thankfully...

'X-Men: First Class' Director to Save All of Us With 'Flash Gordon' Reboot

Posted: 15 Apr 2015 04:26 PM PDT

Matthew Vaughn has been a pretty reliable director ever since making his debut back in 2004 with the Daniel Craig-starring Layer Cake, but it's seemingly taken Hollywood a while to realize that he deserves to be a hot commodity. One would think that X-Men: First Class would have sealed that deal, but apparently it's the grand success of Kingsman: The Secret Service (which, believe it or not, made $40 million more worldwide than X-Men did while costing half as much) that's truly made him a favorite at Twentieth Century Fox. The studio already has him producing their Fantastic Four reboot, and now they've tapped Vaughn to direct a new version of Flash Gordon, the comic strip that not only resulted in a cult classic '80s movie, but was also one of George...

Movie News: Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone Reunite for a Musical; 'John Wick' Directors Tackle SWAT Team Movie

Posted: 15 Apr 2015 12:00 PM PDT

La La Land: Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, who previously showed great chemistry in Crazy, Stupid, Love and Gangster Squad, are now in talks to join the musical La La Land. The modern day-set but old fashioned song-and-dance style movie is writer-director Damien Chazelle's follow-up to Whiplash. The two actors would replace departed leads Miles Teller and Emma Watson. [Deadline]   Untitled Shanghai SWAT Project: Stuntmen-turned-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, who made their mark last year with John Wick (pictured above), have signed on to a period-set action movie based on the true story of the first SWAT team. The currently untilted movie will focus on real-life British soldier William E. Fairbairn, who is said to have been a major influence on the...
