| TNT's The Last Ship Rated 2014's Biggest Cable Series Launch Posted: 23 Jun 2014 11:33 AM PDT  TNT continued its ratings hot streak last night with the premiere of the action-adventure series "The Last Ship" and the return of the alien-invasion drama "Falling Skies". "The Last Ship" launched with a total of 7.4 million viewers in Live + Same Day delivery for its 9:00 p.m. premiere and 11:00 p.m. encore, while "Falling Skies" landed a total of 4.7 million viewers for its 10:00 p.m. season premiere and midnight encore. "The Last Ship," which garnered 5.3 million viewers at 9 p.m., now ranks as cable's #1 series launch for the year-to-date. With 3.7 million viewers for its 10 p.m. premiere, "Falling Skies" has joined TNT's "Rizzoli & Isles," "The Last Ship," "Major Crimes" and "Murder in the First" in giving the network five of cable's Top 6 scripted season premieres for the year-to-date in Live + Same Day delivery. |
| AMC Renews Revolutionary War Drama Turn for a Second Season Posted: 23 Jun 2014 11:15 AM PDT  AMC today announced that it has ordered a second season of its Revolutionary War drama, "Turn," which attracted a passionate core audience averaging two million viewers a week over its initial 10-episode run. "Turn" will return to AMC with 10 new episodes next spring. The network is also pairing encores of the entire first season of "Turn" with "Hell on Wheels" on Saturday nights this summer, to give new viewers a chance to discover and connect with the show. |
| Starz Greenlights Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience Posted: 23 Jun 2014 10:05 AM PDT Starz today announced the greenlight of "The Girlfriend Experience," a 13-part anthology series produced by Transactional Pictures. Inspired by the 2009 Magnolia Pictures film of the same title, Steven Soderbergh and Philip Fleishman will serve as executive producers along with independent filmmakers Lodge Kerrigan and Amy Seimetz, who will also write and direct on the series. |
