What Movie Has the Best End Credits?

Posted: 16 Jun 2014 08:00 PM PDT

It sounds like snarky criticism to say that the best thing about 22 Jump Street is the end. But everyone is talking about the sequel's credits, whether they think the movie that comes before it is also worthwhile or not. They are a perfect finishing touch to an already meta piece of comedic entertainment and probably the most memorable conclusion of its kind since the blooper reel at the back of The Cannonball Run. Maybe that's not as fondly recalled these days as it was throughout the '80s and up until the parody done on The State. Every generation probably has its own favorite end-credits sequence, as "crazy credits" (as IMDb calls them) have been around for as long as cast and crew have been listed after the movie -- and before then, you had some fun...

Film Face-off: '21 Jump Street' vs. '22 Jump Street'

Posted: 16 Jun 2014 07:00 PM PDT

It sounded like a terrible idea. Take an '80s TV show that was responsible for making Johnny Depp a heartthrob, and turn it into an action comedy. While Jonah Hill had proven himself funny in Superbad, Cyrus and the underrated Funny People, he was bringing Channing Tatum along for the ride, and none of us knew what to make of it... until we saw the film. The movie made $138 million and scored an 85 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. So, Hollywood did a lot of soul searching and shocked everyone by deciding to make a sequel. Thankfully, directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (the team responsible for The Lego Movie) also returned, so let's see if the boys can leave high school behind for some undercover college work in this week's Film Face-off with 21 Jump Street vs. 22...

'An Honest Liar' Trailer: A Documentary About the World's Greatest Debunker and the Secret He Was Hiding

Posted: 16 Jun 2014 06:00 PM PDT

Skeptic and former stage magician James "The Amazing" Randi has been challenging pseudoscience and supernatural claims for decades. He's a professional debunker, but many people have actually accused Randi of concealing perceived psychic powers during his debunking demonstrations. Randi has re-created the spoon-bending antics of famed psychokinesis guru Uri Geller using simple magic tricks, which led to a major lawsuit. And that wasn't his first legal battle. Randi's story is revealed in the documentary An Honest Liar, which refers to his work as a magician, but also a secret he kept hidden for years. Randi also happens to be gay (he didn't come out until the age of 81). The documentary explores his internal struggle as a man who is in the business of...

Check Out This Hilarious Short Created Out of Extra Footage from 'The Lego Movie'

Posted: 16 Jun 2014 04:00 PM PDT

It’s amazing how the Lego brand has expanded in the last decade or so – the little blocks that allow kids to build basically anything they can imagine have gone from being a toy-box staple to the star of video games and movies. The Lego Movie is due to hit home video this week – and there’s no better way to prepare for that momentous occasion than by watching this hilarious trailer for a fake movie titled History Cops, created using some extra footage that was left over from the movie. Will Forte reprises his role as Lincoln, while codirector Phil Lord (we think) voices Michelangelo.   The short, which features Abraham Lincoln and Michelangelo as an odd-couple cop duo, is done in a faux grindhouse style that’s instantly recognizable...

See Samuel L. Jackson Recite His 'Pulp Fiction' Speech from Memory, Plus: The Original Movie the Quote Comes From

Posted: 16 Jun 2014 03:00 PM PDT

The endlessly quotable Pulp Fiction wouldn't be the same without Samuel L. Jackson's Ezekiel speech, which has consistently been voted as one of the best movie speeches of all time. The altered biblical passage, taken largely from Ezekiel 25:17, is recited several times in the film. Scholars and critics have debated its usage and meaning since the movie's 1994 release. Tarantino was inspired to include it thanks to Japanese martial artist Sonny Chiba, as a similar passage appears at the start of Chiba's Karate Kiba (The Bodyguard). During his appearance on the Graham Norton Show, Jackson reprised his famous lines, reciting the passage from memory. Jules Winnfield lives on. Watch the original scene for comparison, below. Warning: NSFW language And...

Then word leaked that Jason Momoa was circling the part of Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with a larger role planned for the DC hero in Justice League. Momoa, whose most recent roles include the Conan reboot and a part in Bullet to the Head, all but confirmed his Aquaman part with an image on Instagram that should be pretty recognizable to those fans of the character.    Yup, that's Momoa...

Trivia: James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow Almost Made an 'X-Men' Movie in the 1980s

Posted: 16 Jun 2014 11:00 AM PDT

It’s common knowledge amongst movie and comic geeks that Avatar director James Cameron spent years trying to make a Spider-Man movie with Marvel Comics. What’s less well known is that the plans to bring everyone’s favorite wall crawler to the big screen weren’t why Cameron and Marvel met up in the first place. The comic company had hopes the filmmaker would tackle another of its huge properties: The X-Men. X-Men writer Chris Claremont recently recounted the tale for the folks over at Blastr, and its definitely worth checking out if only so you can envision what it’s like when Stan Lee and Cameron wind up in the same room. Claremont explains that Cameron met with the company with the idea of producing an X-Men film that Kathryn Bigelow would direct...
