The Schmoes Know Movie Show: The Top 5 Buddy Cops in Movies Posted: 13 Jun 2014 07:00 PM PDT Who are the Schmoes, and what exactly do they know? The Schmoes are a couple of regular guys, Kristian Harloff and Mark Ellis, who--like you--are the people for whom movies are made. Each week, we're posting brand new video from the Schmoes that'll give their spin on a given movie topic. In honor of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum returning as undercover cops in 22 Jump Street, this week's show is all about buddy cops as the Schmoes count down their top five buddy cops in movies. The Best Movie Trailers of the Week Posted: 13 Jun 2014 06:00 PM PDT Welcome back to Best Movie Trailers of the Week, a column where we handpick the best new movie trailers that have arrived online over the past week. Penguins of Madagascar There’s a reason the penguins of Madagascar are getting their own movie; they deserve it. They’ve proved their worth in the Madagascar film franchise, their own award-winning TV show and now do the same in the trailer for their spin-off movie, too. Everything they do is funny, even the things you might not expect to be. Rather than cram as much comedy as possible into two minutes and 15 seconds, after a brief introduction, the piece puts the focus on just three gags and that gives us the time to really appreciate and remember all of them. Birdman We’ve never had... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
See Some of the World Cup's Most Memorable Moments As Animated Shorts Posted: 13 Jun 2014 05:00 PM PDT The 2014 FIFA World Cup kicks off today in Brazil. The British designers at website It's Nice That, along with sister agency INT Works, are celebrating some of the most iconic events in World Cup history with a series of five-second videos. Fives highlights memorable moments in football — the victories, the emotions and the frenzy associated with the sport. Design Taxi informs us that the collaborative project started via an open call for submissions. Diego Maradona's "hand of God" goal in 1986 is represented in the videos — the controversial score that fuled a long-standing rivalry between Argentina and England. Zinedine Zidane’s head-butt against Marco Materazzi in 2006, and the octopus oracle named Paul, who predicted the results of... Watch: New Video Reveals What Happened Between 'Planet of the Apes' Movies Posted: 13 Jun 2014 02:00 PM PDT Humanity is in dire straits in the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and this new video highlights how they got there. The brief clip – designed to act as a bridge between Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the new film – shows that simian flu is running wild, and that mankind has no real way to stop it. Humans, once rulers of our planet, are now dying off in record numbers, and society is collapsing. It’s pretty harrowing stuff, but probably not anywhere near as frightening as the new world order that rises from the ashes of our civilization. Caeser and his intelligent apes are lords of the planet in Matt Reeves’ upcoming film, but humanity isn’t entirely down for the count. There’s a war coming – between the ape army and the... A Freaky Look Back at the Entire 'Friday the 13th' Franchise Posted: 13 Jun 2014 12:00 PM PDT Today is Friday the 13th, but it doesn't have to be unlucky if you are an old-school slasher film fan. Jason Voorhees—the unstoppable killer with a penchant for dispatching teens who engage in premarital sex—has been painting the big screen red since 1980. We learn in the original film that Friday the 13th was also Jason's birthday, so blow out some candles for the big guy and have a Friday the 13th marathon with the 12 films (!) in the frightening franchise. (Note: That marathon is now a lot easier to enjoy thanks to the Blu-ray box set Warner Bros. released containing all 12 movies. Read our review here.) Friday the 13th: Jason Voorhees is not the killer in director Sean S. Cunningham's 1980 original, a fact that got Drew Barrymore in a lot of... Move Over 'Star Trek' -- NASA Reveals Its Own Warp-Drive Spaceship, 'The Enterprise' Posted: 13 Jun 2014 11:00 AM PDT Interstellar space travel has been the dream of NASA scientists and science fiction fans for decades, and now it’s one step closer to reality thanks to this new concept design from the brainiacs responsible for the United States' space-exploration program. New pictures emerged this week of a futuristic looking vehicle dubbed The Enterprise (in an obvious nod to Star Trek), a spacecraft that if built could travel between stars and galaxies at roughly the speed of light. Warp factor 5, if you please, Mr. Sulu. Dr. Harold White, who works on ion engines and plasma thrusters (and has a much cooler resume than I do), came up with a series of equations that would, theoretically, allow a vessel to travel faster than the speed of light. We hear the science guys in the back... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'Avengers' Villain Tom Hiddleston to Play Country Music Legend Hank Williams -- and Sing, Too! Posted: 13 Jun 2014 10:00 AM PDT As Loki, the handsome villain everyone loved to hate in The Avengers, Tom Hiddleston stole his way into millions of hearts. He was sly, cunning and debonair, yet he also manifested a nasty mean streak that went way beyond pranking his adopted brother Thor. He got a chance to redeem himself in Thor: The Dark World last year, although it's safe to say that Hiddleston is still most identified in the public eye as someone who cannot be trusted. But can he sing? Hiddleston has signed up to star in the upcoming biopic I Saw the Light as country-music legend Hank Williams, according to Screen Daily. The production has secured rights to the official catalog, and Hiddleston will be doing his own singing, which means we might be hearing Loki singing "Hey Good Lookin'" and...
