THE MOVIE: Kung Fu Jungle (aka Kung Fu KillerOne Person’s Martial Arts Circle; or The Last of the Best) is the title of an upcoming project from martial art sensation Donnie Yen. This high-octane action thriller will reunite Donnie Yen with his Bodyguards & Assassins director Teddy Chen as well as his Iceman Cometh 3D co-star Wang Baoqiang.

Plotwise, the movie follows Donnie Yen as a top-notch martial arts instructor at the Hong Kong Police Academy who is imprisoned for accidentally killing a man. Yen may not be able to stay behind bars for long as shortly after his arrest, a deranged killer (Wang Baoqiang) begins targeting the best and brightest martial arts fighters in Hong Kong.

The premise sounds ripe for yet another rip-roaring Donnie Yen picture in the vein of Flash Point. Color us excited!

Update: Here’s the first teaser poster (then-titled Last of the Best) for the film to celebrate the fact that the movie has entered principal photography while Donnie is on a break from shooting Iceman Cometh. | Head over to HKSAR for a pack of photos of Donnie Yen in action. | Promotional poster.  | In addition to Yuen Bun (Legend of Zu, The Blade) serving as co-action choreographer with Donnie Yen, it’s been announced that Fan Siu-wong (Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky, Ip Man) and Xing Yu (Wrath of Vajra, Flash Point) will be making special appearances. | Kung Fu Jungle (previously titled Kung Fu Killer) gets a December 18th 2014 domestic release date.

Director Jang Jin (Guns & Talks) is back with an action film called Man on High Heels (aka High Heels). Despite its kooky title, Man on High Heels is not a comedy. It's in fact an violent action-thriller with a gender-bending twist. The film stars Cha Seung-won (Libra Me), Esom (Hindsight) and Oh Jung-Se (The Unjust).

Here's the plot: Ji-wook is a cold-blooded detective who will stop at nothing to catch criminals. However, despite his masculine appearance, Ji-wook struggles with a secret desire to be a woman. At last, Ji-wook decides to get a sex change. However, a gang Ji-wook brutally arrested by force plots revenge against him.

Man on High Heels will be released domestically in June 2014. For now, here's a couple of trailers, courtesy of Film Combat Syndicate.

A website called The Action Elite was contacted by producer Jacqueline Swift with new information on what could become Die Hard 6 (aka Die Hardest). Before anyone gets excited, this isn’t a rock solid rumor (Jacqueline Swift’s name isn’t anywhere to be found on imdb.com) and should be taken with a grain of salt. Whatever the case, here’s what The Action Elite has to say:

“We were contacted by Jacqueline Swift who said there's a rumour going around that British screenwriter and author Ben Trebilcook, who penned a couple of Die Hard 4 drafts a few years back, has done a treatment for a sixth. It is set in Japan and involves the Nakatomi Corporation having a commendation for John McClane on the 25th anniversary of the Nakatomi siege, which apparently some parties involved like. Seeing as one Good Day producer is producing Trebilcook's martial arts movie Knockout, it looks like he could actually be involved in Die Hard 6.”

For those unfamiliar with the original Die Hard (how dare you!), it revolves around John McClane (Bruce Willis), officer of the NYPD, who saves his wife and several others, taken hostage by German terrorists during a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles. With that said, considering 2013 marks the 25th anniversary of the events in Die Hard, producers better get cookin’.

Updates: Screenwriter Ben Trebilcook has spilled his guts regarding Die Hard 6 in a new interview. It turns out that the film will have a slight Rising Sun or Black Rain vibe as Bruce Willis finds himself a ‘fish out of water’ in Japan. In addition, Trebilcook references such cult movies as Ichi the Killer and A Better Tomorrow 2 in how he is trying to capture the chaotic and often hyper-violent nature of the Asian crime underworld. Fans can also look forward to the return of a certain supporting character from Die Hard With a Vengeance.

BREAKING NEWS: Thanks to manlymovie.net, we have this info about original Die Hard/Predator director John McTiernan: Empire asked him if he’d be willing to direct another Die Hard movie and/or an Expendables movie. His answer? Yes! “Though in theory he’d be up for doing another Die Hard movie, or an Expendables movie, he hasn’t got time for another dud: DEA versus drug lords actioner Red Squad, which is being reported as his comeback movie, has stalled because he views the current draft as offensive. Also, according to diehard.wikia, McTiernan is actually rumored to be in talks to direct Die hard 6 (also known as Die Hardest and Old Habits Die Hard).

Can Olivier Gruner survive ‘Sector 4: Extraction’?

Martial arts star Olivier Gruner, who is best known for 1989′s Angel Town and 1992′s Nemesis, is back in Lionsgate’s Sector 4: Extraction. In addition to being the star, Gruner is also the director and co-writer. This upcoming action thriller also stars Salman Bokhari (Hawaii Five-0), Steven Dell (Re-Generator) and Eric Roberts (Best of the Best).

Unfortunately, Sector 4: Extraction is more of a low budget version of 2013′s Lone Survivor, so those expecting kickboxing action might be disappointed. However, this “war” themed film is more suitable for Gruner than you think, considering he’s real-life former Commando Marine.

Here’s the official plot: When an elite band of private military mercenaries known as Black Knight are caught behind enemy lines in the hellish combat zone Sector 4, their only hope for survival is their team leader, who managed to get away. But after escaping the clutches of Al-Qaeda, returning home and finding out that his men are still alive, he pledges to uphold the Black Knight motto: “No One Left Behind.”

Catch the DVD for Sector 4: Extraction on July 22, 2014. Until then, here’s a rough cut of the trailer. Expect a more polished Lionsgate trailer soon. Stay tuned!

Sam Mendes’ ‘Bond 24′ will be a continuation of ‘Skyfall’

Agent 007′s latest adventure, Skyfall, has gone on to become the most successful James Bond film of all time. With a final gross of over $1 billion worldwide, it’s no surprise that the Bond producers have asked Skyfall director Sam Mendes to return to helm Daniel Craig’s next outing as the super spy.

Latino Review reported that John Logan (Gladiator), one of four credited writers on Skyfall, has already been hired to write the next two films in the franchise. And director Mendes even told Total Film that he has an idea for Bond 24.

Update: Various sources report that Sam Mendes has officially signed to direct Bond 24. In a statement Mendes said: "I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honor all my theater commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24."

BREAKING NEWS: Screenwriter John Logan told Empire (via Collider): "Right now the first draft is almost done. I'm terrifically excited about it! I've been working very closely with Sam [Mendes], and it's been joyous to pick up from our work on Skyfall and just continue on with the storytelling. The new movie continues the themes of Skyfall. Some of the characters and themes that we began to introduce in Skyfall will play out, I hope successfully, in the next movie."

Logan also mentions the possibility of S.P.E.C.T.R.E. making a presence: “There might be [a presence of S.P.E.C.T.R.E.]! Honestly, not being evasive, but the great thing about Bond is that I have fifty years of movies – 23 movies and all the Ian Fleming novels and short stories, all of which are fodder. And when I'm working on the new Bond I'm constantly going back to Fleming and the other movies – what are the bits and pieces, what are the resonances? One of the things we learned in Skyfall is that the audience really enjoyed those, they enjoyed when they saw the Aston Martin, they enjoyed when we had references to things they grew up with, either from Ian Fleming or from the other movies, and that's always been a part of my thinking about Bond." | According to Collider, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Red Belt, 12 Years a Slave) is the top choice for the villain of Bond 24.

BREAKING NEWS: During a Charlie Rose interview (via Collider), director Sam Mendes explains why he finally decided to return to the director's chair for Bond 24: "I cast a new M, I cast a new Moneypenny, I cast a new Q, I cast a new Tanner… I felt there was a way to create the second part of a two-part story." The director also states that it will feel like a continuation of Skyfall. Bond 24 has a planned UK release date set for October 23, 2015 and for the U.S., November 6, 2015.
