Gerard Butler Will Return for Another Round of Saving Lives in 'Angel Has Fallen'

Posted: 26 Oct 2016 09:30 PM PDT

London Has Fallen is the rare sequel that did better than its predecessor, Olympus Has Fallen, at the box office, $195 million to $161 million in worldwide totals. When that kind of thing happens, it's probably a safe bet the studio will figure out something else for heroic Secret Service agent Mike Banning to save -- something like... himself.  Deadline reports Gerard Butler will return once again portray Banning in a third installment of the action series called Angel Has Fallen. This time it won't be the White House or all of London he'll be protecting, but himself. Banning's attackers come directly after him it seems, as he's traveling with the President aboard Air Force One, code-named Angel. Hence the title.  London Has Fallen really thrived...

Mel Gibson Says There's a Large Chunk of 'Braveheart' Audiences Haven't Seen Yet

Posted: 26 Oct 2016 08:00 PM PDT

It's been a long time since Mel Gibson directed a movie, but the release of his fifth feature, Hacksaw Ridge, is just around the corner. In the lead up to the occasion, he's been doing press promoting the new war drama, and while doing so he's been discussing some of his previous efforts behind the camera. Collider asked Gibson about his 1995 classic Braveheart, for instance, and got him to talk about the hour-worth of material left on the cutting room floor.   "I have it on tape somewhere," he says of the initial assembly edit, which was three hours and 45 minutes. "We did excise the right stuff." From that rough cut, Gibson and editor Steven Rosenblum pared it down by half an hour and couldn't figure out what else to do...

'The Incredibles 2' Is Coming Out Sooner Than Expected

Posted: 26 Oct 2016 06:15 PM PDT

The Incredibles turns 12-years-old next week, which means we're just a week away from celebrating the 12-year anniversary of people begging for a sequel. Writer-director Brad Bird spent a decade breaking fans' hearts by offering no news on a follow-up film, only to finally have The Incredibles 2 confirmed by Disney CEO Bob Iger in March of 2014. Another year went by with no hard details until Pixar finally announced a release date of June 21, 2019. Hurray, right? Well, now you don't even have to wait until 2019! Disney has just announced that The Incredibles 2 is moving up an entire year and will now come out on June 15, 2018. But there is some bad news. A major studio like Disney can't just move around release dates without it having a...

New 'Split' Trailer Scratches the Weird Surface of M. Night Shyamalan's Latest Thriller

Posted: 26 Oct 2016 04:30 PM PDT

It's easy to recommend people see Split purely for James McAvoy. We caught M. Night Shyamalan's latest film at its surprise premiere at Fantastic Fest and can attest it's a clever return to form for the director, but even if it wasn't, even if the actual story was a total disaster, it would still be worth recommending for McAvoy's performance all on its own. McAvoy plays a man with Dissociative Identity Disorder. This is positioned essentially as an extreme version of multiple personalities, which means we get to see the actor alternate between nearly two-dozen competing people all trapped inside the same body. Most of them are normal, but a few of the personalities are quite passionate and start to conspire against the others in an attempt to unleash a...

The Makers of 'Bad Moms' Tease 9 or 10 Sequels

Posted: 26 Oct 2016 03:00 PM PDT

With its raunchy, relatable suburban-mom humor, Bad Moms crushed it at the box office over the summer to the tune of $179 million worldwide (on only a $20 million budget). Like a Mean Girls for moms, the R-rated comedy quickly became the go-to summer movie for a ladies night out, and not only is there talk of a Bad Dads spinoff, but Bad Moms writer-directors Jon Lucas and Scott Moore want fans to know that a sequel to Bad Moms is most assuredly on its way, too. Not only that, but they want the Bad Moms brand to thrive for many sequels, Police Academy-style. "We want to go full Police Academy where we are on, like, Number 9 or 10 and still trying out how to make this funny," Lucas told CinemaBlend. "Our goal right now, first and foremost, is to make Bad...

Shawn Levy to Direct 'Uncharted' Video Game Adaptation

Posted: 26 Oct 2016 12:00 PM PDT

Big-screen adaptations of video games have proven popular with audiences worldwide. This year, for example, The Angry Birds Movie made more than $349 million at the global box office, while Warcraft earned more than $433 million worldwide. Clearly, such titles resonate with moviegoers in search of fantasy adventures on a large scale. While The Angry Birds Movie ventured into the family-friendly realm of animation, Warcraft pursued a somewhat older audience with a mixture of live-action and CGI; it proved especially popular outside the U.S. Assassin's Creed will seek a similar demographic when it opens in theaters on December 21.   Now another video game adaptation is moving forward. Shawn Levy will direct Uncharted, according to Deadline, based on the...
