The 'Fifty Shades of Muppets' Parody Is Pretty Gonzo

Posted:

Fozzie would be appalled.

People can't resist making "Fifty Shades of Grey" parody videos, and they are usually better than the movie itself. But the Muppets? So wrong. And yet so right. A YouTuber called Darth Blender created a 2-minute "Fifty Shades of Muppets" video, using clips from Muppets movies that eerily fit the dialogue and themes of "Fifty Shades." The parody has slowly gone viral in the past week, earning thousands of views, and several comments noting, "That should have been titled 'Fifty Shades of GREEN'! " Fair point.

Watch the parody:
Our childhoods! It's not like we didn't know Kermit and Miss Piggy were a thing, but ... we kind of liked the innocent version in our heads. Some viewers expressed disgust with the video, others disappointment that it wasn't dirtier (that might be Animal commenting over and over), and still others have requested a full movie version.

Sadly, Sam the Eagle was right about us. We are all weirdos.
Meanwhile, the real "Fifty Shades" sequel, "Fifty Shades Darker," is due in theaters February 10, 2017.

'Grey's Anatomy' Season 13 Will Give Alex a New 'Bromance'

Posted:

"Grey's Anatomy" is giving everyone new relationships in Season 13. Not only is Arizona getting some lovin', Alex will soon land himself a new bro-friend. But this relationship will also need the status "It's Complicated."

The end of Season 12 is still playing out for Dr. Karev. Obviously, DeLuca is not on his side, and Jo seems shocked and frightened about Alex beating up DeLuca over a misunderstanding. Meredith has basically backed Team Alex -- to the point where she almost threatened DeLuca -- and Maggie and Arizona are kind of in the middle. Maggie has a thing for Riggs, but she also had a thing with DeLuca. That's part of what makes Alex's new bromance especially complicated, because it's with Riggs. (Alex, Mer, and Riggs could just ride off into the sunset together and that might solve all the problems at once).

The bromance scoop was shared by Martin Henderson (Nathan Riggs) himself to Entertainment Weekly, after a fan asked about Alex's professional fate:

Will Alex go back to being a surgeon again on Grey's Anatomy? — Camilla L News
That's TBD. In the meantime, "There might be a little bit of a friendship between Riggs and possibly Alex Karev, which further complicates the Maggie thing," Martin Henderson tells me. "I did hear a hint that maybe a bit of a bromance starts, a mutual respect, and they don't hold anything against one another, and so I think that may be in the cards too."

"The Maggie thing" could probably be solved with one conversation, but no one ever keeps things simple on this show.

A bromance may be just what Alex needs right now, especially with a decent guy. But it sounds like things will get worse for him before they get better. Check out the synopsis for this Thursday's October 13 episode:

"Falling Slowly" - Alex tries to do the right thing but still cant catch a break. Jackson and April adjust to their "new normal" with the baby. While Meredith and Nathan establish what's going on between them, Amelia questions the state of her relationship with Owen.

Oh, Amelia. That did not take long. (Love the Japril tease, though. Happy to see those two taking "baby steps" in the right direction.) The bromance tease didn't say anything about Owen, but if Riggs gets closer to Alex, maybe Owen should bro out with DeLuca. That would really complicate things.

Here's a Sneak Peek of Nathan Fillion's Stormy Stint on 'Modern Family'

Posted:

LA Premiere of "Captain America: Civil War" - ArrivalsWe're still not over the end of "Castle," so it's shiny great to see Nathan Fillion back on ABC!

Fillion is about to start a three-episode arc on "Modern Family," starting this Wednesday, October 12. He plays TV weatherman Rainer Shine -- yep! -- who is obviously a hero of Phil's (Ty Burrell), because obviously. It's Phil. According to TVLine, Phil will be invited to appear in a real-estate news segment at the local station, and he'll run into his weatherman hero. However, a stormcloud arrives when Phil introduces Rainer to Hayley (Sarah Hyland). As TVLine put it, "let's just say the temperature in the studio quickly starts to rise." Well!

TVLine got first look photos from the episode, and here they are:

After that, Entertainment Weekly shared a sneak peek clip:

Season 8, Episode 4, titled "Weathering Heights," airs Wednesday at 9 p.m. on ABC. Someone may need to remind Nathan Fillion, though, since he seemed to think it would air Thursday:

'The Walking Dead' Season 7 Premiere Title Is a Chilling Flashback

Posted:

"The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere title alone has us shaken, so we're probably not ready for the actual episode.

According to AMC, Season 7, Episode 1 is called "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be." They posted that on the official TWD site, along with the blurb, "Last season ended with Rick and our group kneeling helplessly before Negan and his group. What Negan does will haunt those who survive forever."

We knew that, but the title -- does it ring any bells? Remember in Season 1, when Rick thanked Dr. Jenner for letting them escape the CDC before it blew up. Rick said, "I'm grateful," but Jenner replied, "The day will come when you won't be."

Watch:
THAT DAY IS HERE.

Or it's coming Sunday, October 23.

Guess we're about to reach a point where Rick wishes he and his group had just pulled a Jacqui.

We know at least one person dies right away in the Season 7 premiere, but Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) apparently just confirmed that Negan kills more than one person in the premiere. And episode director Greg Nicotero already said worse things happen in Episode 1 than that kill we already know is coming. Will one of those things happen to Rick himself?

'The Walking Dead' Star: Negan Kills More Than One Person in Premiere

Posted:

Sounds like Lucille is going to get quite a workout in "The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere (which has a chilling title that should worry you on its own). We know one beloved member of Rick Grimes's group will die right at the start; while it won't be Rick himself, it might be his "right hand man." However, Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan apparently confirmed the rumors out there that more than one major death is coming right in Episode 1.

Here's part of Den of Geek's cover story with the cast, teasing more than one premiere kill from Negan:

Since his introduction, Negan has been a whirlwind of violence, and that's exactly how he'll be portrayed on the show. Morgan promises that a bloodthirsty Negan will get to swing Lucille more than once this season. In fact, the actor hints that Negan will begin his reign of terror in fine form. The villain will take more than one life in the premiere.

"Negan's not just going to kill one person in [the premiere]," Morgan says. "He's not afraid of bashing in skulls."

If they hadn't added "the premiere" we'd think he meant in Season 7 at large, but they emphasized it. That doesn't mean he definitely kills another member of our group. He could kill one of his own, or a stranger. Sounds like not a walker, though, to say "person."

It's not a huge shock to hear about multiple deaths in the premiere, since there were spoilers suggesting the same, plus director Greg Nicotero recently said other things happen in the first episode that are even worse than the one Negan kill we already know about. AMC's recent sneak peek scene ended with Rick being dragged away by Negan, but we're not buying that he's about to be killed. He might lose a limb, though, or it could all be misdirect.

In the same Den of Geek interview, Jeffrey Dean Morgan confessed that he's worried about how much people will hate Negan after they see the full premiere episode:

"It's a definite concern. I did some ADR yesterday for [episode one], and I saw a little bit of [the episode]. It's a lot. I'll be interested to see how the fans handle it. It's going to be a lot more than the people are expecting. You're about to see someone that you love just f*cking take it. It's violent. It's more than violent. It's gut-wrenching."

"A lot more than the people are expecting"? At this point, we're expecting the sky to fall, so ... at the risk of jinxing everything ... how bad could it be?

'Stranger Things' Chief Is Sick of 'Internet Rage' Over Barb: 'I'm Sorry!'

Posted:

Warning: "Stranger Things" spoilers ahead.

David Harbour loves his character's arc in "Stranger Things" Season 1 -- how fans tend to dislike Chief Jim Hopper for the first few episodes, then love him so much they threaten to sue Netflix if he's killed off. However, he does not love how fans blame Chief Hopper for blowing off Barb's (Shannon Purser) disappearance and only focusing on the search for Will Byers (Noah Schnapp).

Harbour was just on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," and Fallon went on and on with gushing praise for the actor. But Fallon is also a big Barb supporter -- you may have seen his Barb revenge sketch -- and when he asked about Barb, Harbour was visibly (if half-jokingly) frustrated.

David Harbour: "The Internet rage over Barb! Like, Who knew? Shannon is amazing, but the character's in like two episodes -- barely -- and the Internet rage at Chief Hopper over not caring about Barb? I'm sorry! I had a little boy I had to save."

Fallon: "Will you attack that issue next season?"

Harbour: "Yeah, there will be justice for Barb."

Fallon stood and cheered. However...

Harbour: "But if you think Barb's coming back, she's fully dead. I'm sorry!"

Fallon said there's no way he could know for sure, adding the unforgivable pun: "I've seen stranger things..." Send him to the Upside-Down in Season 2!

Here's that interview, plus Harbour describing the Upside-Down in a tale from the set:

Gal Gadot Responds to the Idea of Wonder Woman as Bisexual

Posted:

Superhero sexuality is a hot topic these days (still rooting for you, Stucky!) and Wonder Woman/Diana Prince is now part of that discussion. Comic book writer Greg Rucka recently answered a question on the character's sexuality, and gave a thoughtful, nuanced response that got boiled down to Wonder Woman is bisexual.

Variety recently spoke with Gal Gadot, who is playing Diana in DC/Warner Bros.'s "Wonder Woman" movie, due out next June with Chris Pine as her love interest, Steve Trevor. Variety asked Gadot about the character's sexuality in the movie, and she gave her own thoughtful response:

Variety: Greg Rucka, a longtime writer of "Wonder Woman," believes the character is bisexual. He reasons that because she lived on Themyscira, which is populated solely by women, she must have had gay relationships. Is Wonder Woman bisexual in the film?

Gal Gadot: It's not something we've explored. It never came to the table, but when you talk theoretically about all the women on Themyscira and how many years she was there, then what he said makes sense. In this movie she does not experience any bisexual relationships. But it's not about that. She's a woman who loves people for who they are. She can be bisexual. She loves people for their hearts.

She loves people for their hearts. It's not a bad place to start.

In terms of how we got to Wonder Woman as bisexual, the topic came up when Greg Rucka talked to Matt Santori-Griffith of Comicosity. Here's a portion of their lengthy Q&A:

Matt Santori-Griffith: I'm going to start off simple and to the point. The Wonder Woman that you and Nicola [Scott] have introduced to us in "Year One" — is she queer?

Greg Rucka: How are we defining "queer?"

You're applying a term specifically and talking to an ostensibly cis male (and white to boot), so "queer" to me may not be the same as it is to an out gay man. So, tell me what queer is.

MSG: Fair enough. For the purposes of this conversation, I would define "queer" as involving, although not necessarily exclusively, romantic and/or sexual interest toward persons of the same gender. It's not the full definition, but it's the part I'm narrowing in on here.

GR: Then, yes.

I think it's more complicated though. This is inherently the problem with Diana: we've had a long history of people — for a variety of reasons, including sometimes pure titillation, which I think is the worst reason — say, "Ooo. Look. It's the Amazons. They're gay!"

And when you start to think about giving the concept of Themyscira its due, the answer is, "How can they not all be in same sex relationships?" Right? It makes no logical sense otherwise.

It's supposed to be paradise. You're supposed to be able to live happily. You're supposed to be able — in a context where one can live happily, and part of what an individual needs for that happiness is to have a partner — to have a fulfilling, romantic and sexual relationship. And the only options are women.

But an Amazon doesn't look at another Amazon and say, "You're gay." They don't. The concept doesn't exist.

Now, are we saying Diana has been in love and had relationships with other women? As Nicola and I approach it, the answer is obviously yes.

And it needs to be yes for a number of reasons. But perhaps foremost among them is, if no, then she leaves paradise only because of a potential romantic relationship with Steve [Trevor]. And that diminishes her character. It would hurt the character and take away her heroism.

Read more of his response and the full interview. "Wonder Woman," directed by Patty Jenkins, will be released in theaters June 2, 2017.

John Cho vs. Ben Kingsley 'Lip Sync Battle' Is Too Strange & Sexy to Miss

Posted:

You get down with your bad self, Gandhi!

"Lip Sync Battle" opens its third season October 12 with Oscar winner Sir Ben Kingsley, 72, vs. "Star Trek" and "Harold & Kumar" hero John Cho, 44. Gandhi vs. Sulu. But really it's Elton John in full regalia vs. a grinding Rod Stewart. And we all win for watching.

Spike just released a couple of entertaining sneak peek videos to tease the Season 3 premiere, which airs Wednesday at 9 p.m. (Yep, that's a new day and time.)

Here's Sir Ben not-quite-singing Elton John's "Rocketman" at the piano:

And here's John Cho getting sexy right up in Sir Ben's face to ask Rod Stewart's eternal question, "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?": The answer is yes! Photos for the premiere also show John Cho in cowboy mode...

... but there are no videos to tease that song yet, so you'll have to watch Wednesday to see what he and his dastardly mustache are up to (or check out the YouTube videos Thursday morning).

Future lip sync-ers for Season 3 include Don Cheadle, Ruby Rose, Jay Leno, Laverne Cox, Lupita Nyong'o, Sarah Hyland, Wanda Sykes, Uzo Aduba, Milla Jovovich, America Ferrera, Regina Hall, Samira Wiley, Craig Ferguson, T.J. Miller, DeAndre Jordan, Jeff Dye, and Rob Riggle.

This 'Westworld' Theory About the Man in Black Will Blow Your Mind

Posted:

WestworldJust two episodes in, and HBO's new drama, "Westworld," is generating sprawling fan theories.

One in particular is pretty mind-blowing: That the Man in Black (Ed Harris) and meek newcomer William (Jimmi Simpson) are the same person. Whaaaa? How?!

As we know, the Man in Black has been coming to the park for 30 years. As the theory goes, Billy's scenes are set in that time frame.

The theory was first posed by a user on Reddit, who noted that Billy's scenes seem to be set in the past. Other Redditors jumped on that train, comparing the more retro Westworld logo during Billy's arrival with the sleeker logo in Sizemore's office.

There are also slight differences with Billy's entrance into the park with Teddy's (James Marsden) in the first episode — no kids pranking the drunk, and an Army officer is recruiting men vs. the sheriff for a posse to track down the bandit Hector. These could be narrative changes introduced by the staff in the last 30 years.

Also, speaking of Teddy, where is he in Billy's arrival? Even though Teddy is a host, he's seen getting off the train and being treated like a newcomer in episode 1. But he's missing when Billy gets off the train in episode 2. Not only that, Billy takes Teddy's place when he picks up the errant can for Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood).

Could the park's writing staff created the Teddy character as a kind of stand-in for young Billy? Is that why the Man in Black seems to loathe Teddy and kills him in episode 1? And if young Billy fell in love with Dolores, but she never recalled his existence, would that build up into the murderous rage that the Man in Black exhibits?

The park goes even deeper than we thought!

Lyanna Mormont Confirmed for More 'Game of Thrones' Badassery

Posted:

Game of ThronesAll hail the true King of the North: Lyanna Mormont.

The badass Lady of Bear Island is confirmed to appear on "Game of Thrones" season 7, as new pictures from filming in Northern Ireland have shown. Actress Bella Ramsay was spotted in costume leaving her trailer on set. Lyanna's role in season 7 was first teased with a photo posted by co-star Kristofer Hivju, who plays Tormund Giantsbane. "Can't tell you if our characters meet or not this season – but I can tell you this: you have SO much to look forward to in season 7!" he wrote on Instagram.

Well, we still don't know if Lyanna and Tormund will share any scenes, but the two characters were last seen at Winterfell after Jon Snow's (Kit Harington) victory over Ramsay "The Worst" Bolton. Lyanna was one of the first to proclaim Jon as King of the North, and she's bound to play an important part in the North's fight against Cersei Lannister and the oncoming hoards of white walkers. Hey, just give them that icy cold death stare, Lyanna! They won't stand a chance.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 is expected to premiere in summer 2017.

'Halt and Catch Fire' Renewed for Fourth and Final Season on AMC

Posted:

Halt and Catch FireOn the day of the season 3 finale of "Halt and Catch Fire," AMC has announced it is renewing the critically-acclaimed, but low-rated, drama for a fourth and final season.

The series, set in the '80s amid the rising computing industry, will finish its run with 10 episodes. Presumably, stars Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, Mackenzie Davis, and Kerry Bishé and will return for the final chapter.

"Halt and Catch Fire" debuted as AMC hits "Breaking Bad" and Mad Men" wound down, but it never captivated audiences (nor Emmy voters) as those two dramas did. Still, it was a favorite with critics.

"We are so proud of 'Halt and Catch Fire' — a true passion project — and thank the critics and fans who have embraced this unique program," said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. "It is our great pleasure to renew this project for a fourth and final season, so we can all tune in to see if Cameron, Donna and the rest of the gang turn Swap Meet into eBay, Amazon or Facebook."

HBO Bringing Back 'Fraggle Rock,' So Dance Your Cares Away

Posted:

Fraggle Rock"Dance your cares away, worry's for another day, let the music play ... down at "Fraggle Rock"!

Great news for '80s kids -- HBO is bringing back the beloved children's series. Deadline reports that the premium cable network will air a digitally remastered HD version of "Fraggle Rock" by the end of this year.

The Jim Henson-created show, which ran from 1983 to 1987, centered on a colorful cast of puppet characters who lived in an underground cave world. Their neighbors were the industrious green Doozers and furry farmers the Gorgs. Every episode featured original songs of different genres, and explored themes like friendship, diversity, and the environment.

"In remastering the series, illuminate has created a contemporary look for the series with meticulous attention paid to every detail -- sharpening the images, cleaning up the contrast, increasing the vibrancy of the colors and re-formatting for wide-screen -- all under the careful supervision of Brian Henson," Richard Goldsmith, EVP of Global Distribution for The Jim Henson Company said in a statement. "We'll engage a whole new audience who will love meeting the Fraggles, Gorgs, and Doozers."

Look for "Fraggle Rock" on all of HBO's broadcast channels as well as HBO Go and HBO Now.
