Reel TV: 'Enemy of the State' Is Getting a Sequel Posted: 20 Oct 2016 09:00 PM PDT Enemy of the State is the most perfect '90s thriller. That's not to say it's the best thriller of the '90s, just that it brings together pretty much everything that was big at the time. It had a hot, A-list star (Will Smith), an in-demand director (Tony Scott). It had a stacked ensemble cast that included Regina King, Barry Pepper, Jason Lee, Jake Busey and even Jack Black. It was simultaneously a legal thriller, a murder mystery, a race against time, and a twisty government conspiracy cover up. And, most importantly, it had an obsession with emerging technologies and a distrust of the internet and personal surveillance. Enemy of the State is basically if The Fugitive, The Net, Hackers and a non-supernatural episode of The X-Files all rolled in to one. It is... Watch the Final 'Arrival' Trailer: Miss This and You're Missing the Year's Best Sci-Fi Movie Posted: 20 Oct 2016 07:30 PM PDT With so many recent alien invasion movies relying more on spectacle and explosions, we've become sort of numb when it comes to watching outer-space villains destroy iconic cities and landmarks. That doesn't mean we're not interested in alien invasion movies, and this November's Arrival looks to bring us a much-welcomed twist on the genre, revealing itself to be a nerdier movie that's more about communication than it is violence. It almost looks like the alien invasion version of that age-old advice your parents gave about using your words instead of your fists. Here's the final trailer. Arrival stars Amy Adams as a linguist who's brought in by the government in what appears to be a last ditch effort to communicate with an alien race... Tom Hardy to Star in Biopic About Explorer Ernest Shackleton Posted: 20 Oct 2016 06:00 PM PDT Tom Hardy has played a number of iconic characters, including Mad Max and the Batman villain Bane, and he's portrayed a number of real-life figures, including notorious British prisoner Charles Bronson (Bronson) and both of the infamous Kray twins (Legend). Now he's set to play another iconic character who also existed in real life: Ernest Shackleton. According to Deadline, Hardy will star in a biopic about the explorer that reunites him with the words of Oscar-nominated Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy screenwriter Peter Straughan. Who was Ernest Shackleton? Shackleton was an Irish explorer who led three British expeditions to Antarctica. First was with the Discovery from 1901 through 1903, then with the Nimrod from 1907... 'Rogue One' Made Joss Whedon Want to Direct a 'Star Wars' Movie Posted: 20 Oct 2016 04:30 PM PDT When a filmmaker reaches a certain level of the Hollywood stratosphere it's easy to imagine that they're plugged in to everything, that they've got hook-ups and insights the rest of us normal people can only dream of. And while that's no doubt true for many, some try to stay as relatively normal as they can. Take Avengers director Joss Whedon for example. He's made some of the most popular films and TV shows of all time, but he still sits at home with his daughter watching episodes of The Flash and Supergirl every week. He still goes on the internet and watches trailers for big Hollywood movies like the rest of us. One big difference between Whedon and the rest of us, though, is that when a movie trailer inspires him, he may actually be able to do... First 'A Cure for Wellness' Trailer Doesn't Look Like a Cure At All Posted: 20 Oct 2016 03:00 PM PDT Earlier this week we featured an ad that seemed to promise just a few drops of a liquid from a mysterious blue bottle could cure whatever ails you in life, be it physical or psychological. It was a slick, ominous video that was a clever promo for A Cure for Wellness, a new horror movie from The Ring director Gore Verbinski. It didn't really show us much from the actual movie, though. That's where this first trailer steps in. Granted, you can watch this trailer a few times over and still have no clue what is actually happening in A Cure for Wellness, but that's okay. The best kinds of trailers don't hold your hand through every step of the movie. They toy with your expectations, setting up the mood without giving away all of the goods. To that end, this is a solid... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

The movie does not yet have a release date scheduled. [Collider] Silence: Our first look at Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) in Martin Scorsese's Silence reveals an intense young man. Watch: Hugh Jackman Is Back as Old Man Wolverine in First 'Logan' Trailer Posted: 20 Oct 2016 12:00 PM PDT We've been treated to a series of images from the upcoming Logan, also known as the third installment in the Wolverine stand-alone movies, a spinoff from the X-Men series. The latest photo, shared by director James Mangold, reveals Hugh Jackman (above), looking a bit weathered. The movie takes inspiration from Old Man Logan, an eight-issue comic book series that was published in 2008 and 2009. Written by Mark Millar (Kick-ass), the series took place in an alternate universe in which heroes were mostly wiped out of existence and survivors took refuge in hiding. Wolverine, now known only as Logan, is a married man with two children who refuses to use his superpowers. He accepts a dangerous job only because he needs the money for his family. Logan is set one year after the... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
