Disney's Live-Action Remake of 'Aladdin' Hires Guy Ritchie Posted: 10 Oct 2016 07:00 PM PDT Disney now has two live-action movies about mythological, wish-granting spirits in the works. The first is called Genies and while we don't know a ton about it yet, in the past it's been described as a movie about different genies and how they wind up in lamps. The second is a live-action remake of Aladdin, and after today's news it seems like it may be the first of the two to get off the starting line. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Disney has hired Guy Ritchie to direct the remake, which will be co-produced with Dan Lin who was also a producer on Ritchie's highly successful Sherlock Holmes reboot. They'll be working from a script by John August (Big Fish), though we don't know at this time if it's going to be a new tale or a strict... Marvel Bites: 'The Wasp' Won't Be In 'Avengers: Infinity War,' Update On 'Blade' Plans and More Posted: 10 Oct 2016 05:30 PM PDT With so many Marvel movies in the works in some form or another, it's not easy to keep track of them all. Well, we're here to help, and we've got a few updates on some future movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Marvel Has Plans for Blade We can apparently be certain Marvel has some plan for the return of Blade, according to Kate Beckinsale. How is she an authority on the property or anything in the MCU? She plays a part-vampire character similar to Blade in the Underworld movies and since fans have been calling for a crossover, she's been privy to whether or not that could happen. She was at New York Comic Con over the weekend promoting Underworld: Blood Wars, and again she was... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Matt Damon Explains Why Audiences Need to See 'The Great Wall' Posted: 10 Oct 2016 03:00 PM PDT A few months back, the first teaser for The Great Wall, starring Matt Damon, appeared online. Directed by the great Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou, the teaser showcased gorgeous cinematography; as we noted at the time: "Just those shots of men disappearing into the monstrous fog has us ready to devour whatever comes next." By its very nature, the teaser was only meant to raise curiosity and awareness about the movie. Instead, it stirred instant controversy. Though The Great Wall features an international cast, including Willem Dafoe, Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), Eddie Peng (Call of Heroes) and Andy Lau (Infernal Affairs, House of Flying Daggers), and even though director Zhang Yimou is recognized worldwide for his cinematic artistry, online chatter focused on Matt... Movie News: 'Logan' Sinks Claws Into Possible 'R' Rating; Forest Whitaker Joins 'Black Panther' Posted: 10 Oct 2016 01:30 PM PDT Logan: Three new promotional photos for Logan have been released online and at least one lends credence to the idea that the movie is aiming for an R-rating. All three black and white photos look quite foreboding; one shows the aftermath of a fight, another shows a sign in Spanish that suggests Wolverine may spend time in Mexico and another suggests a motel as a key location. The final Wolverine solo movie starring Hugh Jackman will open in theaters on March 3, 2017. [Instagram via THR] Black Panther: Forest Whitaker has joined the cast of Black Panther. He will portray Zuri, an elder statesman in Wakanda, the home nation of T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman), also known as Black Panther. Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o and Danai Gurira will also star.
