Watch 'The Hunger Games' Cast Reflect on the Importance of 'Mockingjay - Part 2'

Posted: 08 Mar 2016 07:00 PM PST

When The Hunger Games first arrived in theaters back in 2012 it was met with a fair bit of skepticism. Admittedly a lot of it came from people like me who hadn't yet read the books and who looked at in cold, indifferent terms as yet another studio's attempt to chase the market for movies adapted from hit young adult books. Just four years later and now we're all able to see The Hunger Games franchise for what it was: a genuine phenomenon.  I'm not even talking about it from a box office or popularity perspective. The Hunger Games is a phenomenon in that it took hardcore, important and shockingly timely themes about oppression, civic duty and perpetually blurred lines of morality and injected them into a bold story filled with terror, heart, and spectacle...

'Annabelle' Star and 'Jurassic World''s Jake Johnson Touted to Join Tom Cruise in 'The Mummy'

Posted: 08 Mar 2016 05:30 PM PST

The first installment in a series of interconnected movies featuring Universal's classic monsters is shaping up nicely. The Mummy has secured Tom Cruise to star, Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service) to portray the titular character and Robert Kurtzman to direct, based on a script by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus). Now the movie, set in the modern day, is closing in on the apparent female lead, as well as a guy to lighten the mood. Annabelle Wallis, who starred in the horror thriller Annabelle (above, left) is in talks to join the cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, Jurassic World star Jake Johnson will join the ensemble as a member of the military. Cruise will, reportedly, play either a current or former special forces soldier, while Wallis would...

Watch: Will Ferrell Can't Catch a Break With His Fake Kids In This 'Daddy's Home' Behind-the-Scenes Clip

Posted: 08 Mar 2016 04:00 PM PST

Casting casting child actors is, to say the least, complicated. You're trying to find someone who can believably look like a mixture of whomever is playing their parents. They don't have a lifetime of understanding stage directions and camera angles. They only have a finite amount of time each day they're legally allowed to be working. Oh, and they also have to be a decent actor. It's why great child actors are such a notoriously hard thing to find. Now imagine you have to factor all of that in, but you're also trying to find kids who can hold their own in a comedy where their co-stars are freakin' Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. That's exactly the challenge faced by Daddy's Home, the new movie from Sex Drive and She's Out of My League writer...

Watch Chloe Moretz Make Weird History On the Korean Version of SNL

Posted: 08 Mar 2016 03:00 PM PST

The American promotional circuit for an actor is pretty routine. You show up on some talk shows, you do some radio, you do a lot of print interviews. It's not very exciting. Typically the weirdest thing that'll happen is if you take part in a bizarre Jimmy Fallon sketch built to go viral. Entertainment is promoted very, very differently around the world, though*. It's not all five minutes on a morning talk show and blurbs to reporters. That's how Chloe Moretz wound up being on South Korea's Saturday Night Live this past weekend [via AV Club]. And she made TV history in the process. Moretz was not in the country for the Korean release of The 5th Wave, but to promote an FPS game called Sudden Attack when she stopped by SNL for a sketch where she plays a...

'Star Wars' and 'Deadpool' Lead MTV Movie Award Nominations

Posted: 08 Mar 2016 01:30 PM PST

Leading up to the Oscars, there was already a campaign to include Deadpool in the mix, even though the February film debuted long past Oscar's deadline. Good news for fans -- the foul-mouthed blockbuster hit fit right into the MTV Movie Awards window, and as such pulled in 8 nominations, trailing only Star Wars: The Force Awakens (11) for most nods this year. The show, to be hosted by Kevin Hart and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, is way more fan driven than the Oscars, which is why films like this year's Best Picture, Spotlight, did not make the list. But some movies that Oscar snubbed, like Creed and Straight Outta Compton, both found their way among the nominees for Movie of the Year, and Will Smith's Concussion -- nominated for True Story and Best Male...
