Ben Affleck Has Written a Script for His Own 'Batman' Movie

Posted: 30 Mar 2016 09:30 PM PDT

In case you weren't convinced that Ben Affleck does indeed have plans to play Batman in his own solo movie, today it was confirmed the actor went so far as to write his own script for said movie, according to a story in The Hollywood Reporter. Recently Affleck went on record saying he was working on something with DC's Geoff Johns, with many speculating the duo were hashing out the particulars of a solo Batman film that Affleck would direct himself following his work on the two-part Justice League movie. Now THR seems to confirm as much, with news coming from Affleck's reps that he's officially contracted to star in both Justice League movies, and that there's a script "he's written that is a really cool [Batman] idea," adding it's an...

Jennifer Lawrence Wants More 'X-Men,' Plus: Is Tom Hiddleston Done with Marvel Movies?

Posted: 30 Mar 2016 08:00 PM PDT

It's tough to give up on a lucrative franchise role, but many keep promising, or threatening, to do so. This week, we've got another actor claimting that he is done with his breakout superhero movie role, while an actress who previously announced her imminent resignation has apparently changed her mind. Let's start with the latter: Jennifer Lawrence Might Stay in the X-Men For a while, the Oscar-winning actress has stated she's done playing Mystique in the X-Men movies following this summer's X-Men: Apocalypse. But just when she thought she was out, Fox could be pulling her back in. On the set of the new movie, she told Empire, “I am dying to come back. I love these movies, I love being in them. I love ensemble movies because it’s not on...

Sorry 'Justice League' Fans, Hans Zimmer Has Retired From Superhero Music

Posted: 30 Mar 2016 04:30 PM PDT

It's rare that people who work strictly behind the camera on movies become household names. It happens to directors and writers if their movies either make enough money or stir enough controversy, but the household name status usually stops with those crew positions.  Unless you're a composer like Hans Zimmer. The German-born artist has been so integral to the music of some of the most popular movies ever made that even casual fans have come to associate his name with loud, epic music. Sure, Zimmer has been responsible for some quiet, restrained scores (Rain Man and The Ring come to mind), but it's his bombastic work on movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Rock, Sherlock Holmes and Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy that really get most fans riled...

'Alien' Day Is Coming Next Month, Complete With Replica Reeboks For Sale

Posted: 30 Mar 2016 03:00 PM PDT

With all the excitement for Back to the Future Day last fall and the yearly celebration of Star Wars on May the Fourth, it's surprising more movies haven't marked the calendar for their own pseudo holiday. There is a new one coming up next month, though, and it's time for the hype to begin. Twentieth Century Fox has picked April 26 to be Alien Day with the date based on the number found in the name of the moon LV-426 (aka Acheron) where the creatures are first found in the movie franchise.  Like Back to the Future, there are shoes associated with this series, also from its first sequel, Aliens. While Nike had the self-lacing sneakers of Back to the Future Part II's vision of 2015, it was Reebok who got product placement in James...

Watch an Intense and Tearful Daisy Ridley in Her 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Casting Video

Posted: 30 Mar 2016 01:30 PM PDT

When Daisy Ridley was cast in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, most people asked the same question: "Who?" That was followed by another logical question: "How did that happen?" Before the initial cast announcement was made in late April 2014 (see photo below; Ridley is sitting between Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher in the upper right), her screen appearances were quite limited.  After completing her education at a school for the performing arts, she landed a guest appearance on the British television show Youngers in 2013 and then quickly began popping up in other TV shows as well. Still, when Ridley auditioned for the seventh installment of the Star Wars series, a process that took seven months (watch video above), she could properly be...
