New Trailers: 'Ghostbusters' International Version, 'Hardcore Henry' and 'I Am Wrath'

Posted: 09 Mar 2016 09:30 PM PST

This week we're getting a new Captain America: Civil War trailer, but first here's a roundup of new spots for other, MCU-relevant movies starring Thor, the villain from The Incredible Hulk and the villain from The Punisher.   Ghostbusters If there's one thing the first official Ghostbusters trailer was lacking in, it was a sufficient amount of Chris Hemsworth appearances. Fortunately, the international audience has been deemed much more interested in the Thor actor's role in the reboot and so their trailer features him a lot. There's also plenty of the stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, too. Ghostbusters arrives on July 15.    Hardcore Henry Ilya...

Watch This 'Camino' Clip Explain How to Film an Indie Thriller in a Jungle

Posted: 09 Mar 2016 08:00 PM PST

Many movies spend years toiling away in development hell, struggling to get off the ground. There's a million different reasons for it. Money falls through, actors fall through, schedules get complicated, genres rise and fall in popularity. It's just a fact of the industry that projects often sit around for years on end before ever seeing the light of day. That's not what happened to Camino, a new thriller on VOD and iTunes this week. Writer Daniel Noah and director Josh C. Waller found themselves in the opposite of development hell. All of the puzzle pieces it takes to get a movie off of the ground miraculously seemed to align themselves, they were just missing one thing: a script. Noah hammered one out in just a matter of days and then a few weeks later they...

'Captain America: Civil War' Teases New Trailer -- Will We Finally See Spider-Man?

Posted: 09 Mar 2016 06:00 PM PST

As Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice jockey for prime superhero real estate, it's hard not to spot a poster or trailer or food tie-in wherever your daily web surfing takes you. This week has been heavy on Civil War, though, with set visit features (read mine at Fandango!) revealing lots more about what may be Marvel's biggest film yet (it's definitely their longest, at over two-and-a-half hours).   Now Disney has dropped these two new Civil War videos -- one for Team Captain America and the other for Team Iron Man -- teasing a new trailer dropping tomorrow. The big question now... will that trailer include Tom Holland's Spider-Man? There are two sides to that debate. One one hand, fans are referencing Disney's...

Watch the Trailer for Wes Craven's Last Movie, 'The Girl in the Photographs'

Posted: 09 Mar 2016 04:30 PM PST

Some cultures believe photographs steal your soul. What if they instead can take your life? An upcoming horror movie seems to be working on the latter premise, but not in a way that's paranormal. This isn't The Ring with still images in place of a videotape. The Girl in the Photographs is your standard slasher film fare, or so it looks in the newly released trailer. The movie is mostly notable for being the last credited work of Wes Craven. Not as writer or director, but as executive producer. Its world premiere was last fall at the Toronto International Film Festival, just over a month after Craven died of brain cancer. Some critics at the time noted the horror master's fingerprints on the feature. There's also at least one Easter egg reference to an old Craven...

Why '10 Cloverfield Lane' May Predict The Future of Movies

Posted: 09 Mar 2016 03:00 PM PST

Blockbuster fatigue! Superhero fatigue! Franchise fatigue! Not a week goes by without hearing someone shout these words into some kind of editorial bemoaning the state of big-budgeted movies on the big screen. And it's not like that's slowing Hollywood down -- if anything we have more franchise-driven movies these days than we've ever had before. Is that a bad thing? Depends on who you talk to. Is this the future of movies? At least for the time being... but a new film out this week may also give us a glimpse at the alternative. What if you want the blockbuster concept without two hours of special effects shoved down your eye sockets? What if you want the big ideas, but would rather see them delivered in smaller packages? Meet 10 Cloverfield Lane, a...

'Star Wars' Buzz: J.J. Abrams Describes That Leia Hug in 'The Force Awakens' As "A Mistake"

Posted: 09 Mar 2016 01:30 PM PST

WARNING: If you're one of the few who hasn't seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens, this post contains spoilers. Nearly three months after the theatrical release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we're at a point when devoted fans want all remaining questions answered. Of course, many questions about the plot and characters will need to wait at least until Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters on December 15, 2017. That still leaves various loose threads hanging, however, and that includes something that happens after Han Solo (Harrison Ford) dies. You might remember that a few minutes later, the resistance fighters return to Starkiller Base and General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) embraces Rey (Daisy Ridley). Above is the only official photo of Leia hugging someone (not...
