Mike Birbiglia's 'Don't Think Twice' Is a Perfect Movie About the Cost of Chasing Dreams

Posted: 15 Mar 2016 06:37 PM PDT

Will they? Won’t they? That simple question is what drives so many comedies. Usually it’s found in movies or TV shows about two people who can’t stand each other but are clearly meant for each other, so the question becomes can they reconcile their differences and find a way to be together. That sets up a happy ending everybody wants and expects and it’s one that comedies, more often than not, deliver. In a lot of ways, Don’t Think Twice, the new comedy from Sleepwalk With Me writer-director Mike Birbiglia, is a will they, won’t they kind of movie, but it’s not about whether or not a man and a woman will end up happily ever after. It’s about whether or not a group of very funny comedians who perform improv together in New York City...

'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' Trailer Shows a New Mutants Paradise

Posted: 15 Mar 2016 06:00 PM PDT

If you want to see what the quintessential Tim Burton movie looks like, you're in luck because his latest now has a trailer and it's gloriously Burton-esque. It's as if Ransom Riggs wrote the YA fantasy book Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children just so it'd be made into a movie by the man behind the movies Edward Scissorhands and Big Fish and the drawings of strange children in his own book The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories.  It's also sort of what a Tim Burton-directed X-Men movie might look like. Or at least a New Mutants movie. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children stars Eva Green as a sort of Professor Xavier for orphans with strange powers or qualities. There's an...

New 'Indiana Jones' Movie From Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford Will Arrive in 2019

Posted: 15 Mar 2016 05:12 PM PDT

You loved seeing him return as old Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and now you're going to get to see Harrison Ford as old Indiana Jones for another installment of the character's eponymous adventure series. Indiana Jones 5, as we'll call it for now, is also bringing back Steven Spielberg in the director's chair. He's been at the helm of every part of the franchise so far, at least on the big screen. This will be Disney's first Indiana Jones movie. The studio, which confirmed plans for the continuation of Indy a year ago, picked up the rights to further installments back in 2013, a year after acquiring Lucasfilm and with it the Star Wars universe. Like The Force Awakens, Indiana Jones 5 will be produced by current...

Julia Roberts To Star As Another Real-Life Legal Figure in 'Train Man'

Posted: 15 Mar 2016 03:00 PM PDT

Julia Roberts won an Oscar for playing heroic legal clerk Erin Brockovich in the 2001 movie named for her. Now she could be eyeing another awards-caliber gig in Train Man, which will have the actress again playing a real-life legal figure. According to Variety, this time she'll be portraying Sally Butler, the defense attorney for Darius McCollum, an infamous New York City subway and bus thief. Butler also considers herself a friend of her client.  The McCollum part has yet to be cast, and the movie also currently lacks a director. But the script is by Simon Stephenson, who wrote episodes of the UK series Eleventh Hour, and Roberts might be a producer alongside project shepherd Eric Robinson (Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil) and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (The Maze...

SXSW Buzz: 'Sausage Party' Is the Craziest Animated Movie Ever Made

Posted: 15 Mar 2016 02:00 PM PDT

Note: The following is based on a work-in-progress version of Sausage Party. The final version won't arrive in theaters until this August. I know it may be a tad hyperbolic to pull out an "ever made" months before a film even hits theaters, but Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's Sausage Party really is the craziest animated movie ever made in terms of a release from a major studio meant for 3,500 screens -- or at least the craziest, filthiest, most deranged animated movie I've ever seen. It's like the Deadpool of animated movies, and in a riskier year where a film like Deadpool changes the game when it comes to R-rated superhero movies, Sausage Party -- depending on how it's received by audiences -- may also change the game when it comes to R-rated...

Movie News: Anne Hathaway Might Star in 'Princess Diaries 3'; Watch the First 'Storks' Trailer

Posted: 15 Mar 2016 01:00 PM PDT

Princess Diaries 3: Garry Marshall, who directed a young Anne Hathaway in both The Princess Diaries and its sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, is looking to make a third installment even though it's been over a decade since the last one. He says it would be set in Manhattan and Hathaway is interested in returning as Mia. Possibly after she gives birth to her first child later this year. As for whether Chris Pine would reprise his role as her prince, Marshall said, "Maybe … He’s quite big now, you know." [The Wrap]   Baywatch: The Dwayne Johnson-led movie version of the cheesy TV drama Baywatch is aiming to appeal to Latino audiences with its casting of Mexican pop star Belinda. The former child star's role in the...
