Even his 2013 movie The Sacrament, about a team of journalists probing a cult, often gets called a horror movie even though that's not strictly the case. So you might think that his new movie, In a Valley of Violence, is a horror movie. It's not. Short Film Challenge. It had five simple rules. The short had to be horror, it had to cost less than $1,000 to make, it could not be longer than 3 minutes, it had to be uploaded before the end of the year, and it had to somehow deal with the question "Who's there?" David F. Sandberg, a director who had already made a bunch of short films with horror punchlines, entered the contest with a very simple, very effective short called Lights Out (watch it here). Concept art has also been released, revealing the destroyed Kingsman headquarters, the American Statesman headquarters and Poppyland, the headquarters of the villainous Julianne Moore.
