'Pretty Little Liars' Season 6, Episode 19 Recap: Did Hanna Kill Charlotte?

Posted:

Things that happened during this week's "Pretty Little Liars" episode: Hanna confessed to Charlotte's murder. Intrigued? Read on, brave souls, because the liars have a plan and that can only mean one thing: death, epic failure, and a chorus of "nopes."

In Which Mona Gets a PhD in Acting Shady

Look, we have no idea what Mona Vanderwall's up to, but apparently the liars think she kinda-sorta-maybe tried to kill Charlotte on the night she died. Their proof? She attempted to meet up with Char at a diner, only she didn't show (due to being murdered). Plus, the liars spot Mona with Sara Harvey's male companion (the one who helps with her ~mysterious hand damage~), which sets off all kinds of alarm bells. What the liars don't realize is that poor Mona's simply trying to do them a solid by telling Sara to peace out. Jeez, guys, give the poor girl a break. Leave Britney Alone!

In Which Ali Gets Pushed Down Some Stairs

So, this is our current theory: Ali's husband is most definitely trying to kill her. Yeah, she technically "trip" and flops her way down a flight of stairs at the hotel she's staying in for their "honeymoon," (more like DEATH-MOON) but what really happened, hmmm?

Either way, the liars think A tried to off Ali due to a creepy card Hanna found in a flower bouquet, but honestly, when have they ever been right about anything? Never, that's when.

In Which Ezra and Aria Continue to Have an Incredibly Inappropriate Relationship

Don't worry everyone, Ezra and Aria are still writing their (LOLOLOL) book, and it turns out Ezra's using it to work through some extremely tragic memories of his old relationship. You know, the one with that girl who mysteriously died in the jungle? Turns out poor Ezra's been feeling guilty because they were in a fight before her disappearance, and to make matters even more complicated, Aria tells Ezra about #NewA. Sigh, Lord knows how many terrible beer-fueled decisions he'll make now.

In Which Hanna Confesses

The liars have a new plan, and as you might expect, it's horrible. Basically, Hanna decides to take the fall for Charlotte's murder in order to draw A out of the woodwork, which sounds like a great idea! Said no one ever. Even worse, Hanna recruits Caleb to help her, which sends Spencer into a jealous wine-drinking tizzy. We predict terrible things to come, but there's one silver lining: Lucas makes an appearance in this episode and gives Hanna a million bucks to start a fashion line. Good times in the burgeoning financial metropolis that is Rosewood!

Remember, "Pretty Little Liars'" mid-season finale airs next Tuesday, so hopefully we'll get some answers. *crosses fingers*

The Full 'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Trailer Is Finally Here

Posted:

After months of teasers, sneak peek photos, and lots of contradictory interviews from cast members, the first full trailer for season six of "Game of Thrones" is finally here, and boy, are there a lot of goodies for fans to savor.

The moody clip (expertly soundtracked by James Vincent McMorrow's sparse cover of Chris Isaak tune "Wicked Game") is packed with eye-popping visuals and throat-catching theatrics, including some harrowing speeches promising plenty of drama for the residents of Westeros in the season ahead.

"Everything they've taken from us, we're going to take back, and more," Jamie, returned from Dorne, promises Cersei as they plot their revenge. Later, Cersei pledges to "choose violence" going forward.

"You're in the great game now. And the great game is terrifying," Tyrion warns an unseen foe.

That terror extends to just about every character in the show, who all get brief cameos during the trailer. There's glimpses of Jon Snow (whose fate is still infuriatingly vague), Bran, Sansa, Arya, The Mountain, Theon Greyjoy, Danerys, Brienne of Tarth, Melisandre, and many, many more. And lest we've forgotten the sexier aspects of "GOT," there's also a brief look at a lesbian makeout session. It's good to know that some things never change.

The clip pulls double-duty at being both enticing and confusing, which is really what any good trailer should strive for. There's still over a month before the new episodes debut, which should be plenty of time to parse the promo for any and every clue it provides.

Season six of "Game of Thrones" premieres on HBO on April 24.

Amy Schumer's Book Gets August Release Date

Posted:

The 21st Annual Critics' Choice Awards - ArrivalsAfter news broke last fall that Amy Schumer scored a huge advance for a book deal, fans have been waiting for word on when the tome would actually hit shelves. Now, the book has an official title and an official release date, and we are officially excited.

Schumer revealed the news on social media this week that the book, dubbed "The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo," will be released on August 16. She teased the title on Twitter with the double-entendre quip, "If you write it, they will come," and previewed the book's cover on her Instagram account.

Yay! Book!

The official blurb on the comedian's site says "Lower Back Tattoo," a collection of comedic essays, "will feature personal and observational stories from Schumer that range from the raunchy to the romantic, the heartfelt to the harrowing." Publisher Jennifer Bergstrom, of Gallery Books (an imprint of Simon & Schuster), praised Schumer in a statement, saying, "Amy Schumer is not an entertainer who can actually write. She's a writer. Who also happens to entertain."

We can't wait. "The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo" is currently available for pre-order through Schumer's website.

'Harry Potter' Fans May Get a Real Yule Ball at Universal Orlando

Posted:

harry potter, yule ball, harry potter and the goblet of fire, hogwarts, great hall, the wizarding world of harry potter, universal orlando"Harry Potter" fans have been able to live out plenty of real-world Hogwarts fantasies thanks to events at the London studio where the films were shot, as well as the existence of Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme parks. Now, there's potential for yet another awesome opportunity for muggles, with news that Universal Orlando may be planning its own Yule Ball.

That scoop comes from Orlando Insider, which reports that the Florida branch of the Wizarding World park is considering throwing a Yule Ball -- the grand event featured in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" -- this holiday season. A survey was sent out last week to theme park guests gauging interest in a host of holiday activities at Universal Orlando, including the "Potter"-themed gala, which according to the site would hypothetically invite "guests [to] wear dress robes and dine/dance at a festive holiday Yule Ball with themed music, dancing, food and beverages" in Hogwarts's Great Hall.

In addition to that specific event, Orlando Insider says that the survey also floated the idea of a monthlong celebration throughout December marking the holidays, "Potter" style, with "special performances, ride access, a delicious holiday treat, and non-alcoholic beverages" on select nights. The survey also asked guests for their opinion on ticket prices.

Orlando Insider cautions that this idea is just that at this point, and Universal Orlando has no specific plans in place for a Yule Ball just yet. But we can't help but think that survey respondents were enthusiastic, and we hope this fantasy becomes a reality. We'll keep our wands crossed.

Watch John Legend Sing Lyrics to 'Downton Abbey' Theme Song

Posted:

John Legend Downton Abbey"Downton Abbey" came to an end, with much fanfare, Sunday night in the U.S. after airing its series finale. "Jimmy Kimmel Live" marked the occasion by enlisting John Legend to sing lyrics to the British drama's piano theme song.

Legend poked fun at the show, particularly its #DowntonSoWhite-ness. "Everyone we know is very white," he sang. "We don't have one black friend." (Well, there was that one band leader that romanced Lady Rose, but he disappeared in a hurry.)

The tune also referenced Mary and Edith's ongoing feud, the Dowager Countess's sharp observations, and Thomas's sexuality: "We have a footman who is gay / He's always carrying a tray." And of course, Legend cast shade at Lady Edith, because #PoorEdith.

There is talk of a "Downton Abbey" movie, so perhaps we haven't seen the last of dinner formalwear, hats, scones, and smack talk.

'Civil War': 15 Things We Learned on the Set From Team Iron Man

Posted:

Yesterday, Team Cap weighed in on Marvel's "Civil War." Now, it's Team Iron Man's turn.

When it comes to dancing around story points without really revealing anything, the stars of the MCU are Olympic athletes. And Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) must have the most gold medals in this event, as evidenced by the slick non-answers he gave when he greeted us at Atlanta's Pinewood Studios last May.

What he did reveal was a small tidbit of info -- the Sokovia Accords -- but these have large ramifications for the entire MCU. These accords light the fuse on what will cause Earth's mightiest heroes to implode. Two of Team Cap's adversaries, Iron Man and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), sat down with us to set the stage for Marvel's biggest movie yet.

Robert Downey Jr.
1. "Civil War" finds Tony Stark right in the middle of the Sokovia Accords, which lead to the Superhero Registration Act the government wants to make law as to better hold superheroes accountable for their "dropping Helicarriers on D.C." activities. "These Sokovia Accords are a big problem," Downey said. "Tony finds himself in the midst of that." As we learned from Team Cap's interview, Tony becomes the public face of these acts -- much to the chagrin of Steve Rogers.

2. "This is 'The Godfather' of superhero movies." That's how the Russo brothers pitched the story to Downey when they first met to discuss the film. "I said, 'you just said that, and now you're gonna be held to it.'"
3. "Age of Ultron" planted the seeds for Cap and Stark's conflict with the "chopping wood" scene at Hawkeye's farm (above). But Downey didn't realize that was happening at the time of filming. "You know, it's funny, I never know when the seeds are being laid, I'm just like, 'Wow, that's a pretty cool scene.'" "I remember when people said, 'Man, that's a powerful scene in the movie!' And I was like, 'We just shot this thing before lunch, I don't know, he tears a log apart, I said some words.'

4. In regards to the Accords, it's not security or control that Stark is looking for, but rather that "he's saying that as a group of individuals we all require a little bit more supervision than we might imagine."

5. Stark and Black Widow have a seemingly big scene together, that Downey would not tell us anything about. But he did say that the scene is setting something up for the future of their relationship, perhaps something that will pay off in future Avengers movies.

Chadwick Boseman
6. The actor behind Black Panther said his character is "thrown into the middle" of "Civil War," and the movie is "definitely not an origin story."

7. In the film, audiences "meet me as the Prince of Wakanda. You meet me as a politician/monarch, not as a superhero."

8. According to Boseman, at the time of filming, we will not see Wakanda in "Civil War."

9. And yes, fans, the character will have a Wakandan accent.

10. To prepare for the role, Boseman went straight to the source material. "I've just tried to read all of [the comics], not like it's really work. It is work -- don't get me wrong -- it is work, but it's just sort of reading them like a kid, you know?" Before being cast, he was not familiar with the character.

11. Boseman believes that what separates Panther from the other superhero heroes is "he has a wit, a wisdom, and a plan -- an overarching plan -- that a lot of times you don't necessarily see. So it's his strategy during a fight or during a battle." Another big difference, Boseman added, is that he is "a ruler of a country," and we have yet to see that perspective.
12. When Black Panther shows up in the suit, "everybody knows" it's the Prince, Boseman said. "He's not a superhero. He's a warrior, and it's part of their tradition. It's not like he's like, 'Who is that masked guy that's doing this stuff?' Everybody knows it's him, and they expect that it's him, and they pray to God, or even him in some cases, that he would do the things that he's doing. Which is much different than most of the superheroes, in which you don't know their identity."

13. When asked if there was a particular story arc from the comics that Boseman latched onto, he said: "The answer is "yes," but I'm not going to tell you which one, because if I tell you which one, you're going to say, 'Oh, that's what the Black Panther movie is going to be about.' So the answer is 'yes' and 'none a' ya business.'

14. At the time of filming "Civil War," the script for "Black Panther" had yet to be finalized.

15. But that doesn't mean that Boseman doesn't know what is in store for the film, or when it takes place in the MCU. When asked if it is set after the events of "Civil War, " he gave a very cryptic response: "you assume that ["Black Panther"] takes place after 'Civil War.' You assume it's not set in the past. I don't think you can assume anything, because there's also such a thing as a prequel, also. I think anything is possible."

"Civil War" punches into theaters May 6.

9 Times Spencer Reid Made Us Swoon on 'Criminal Minds'

Posted:

Spencer Reid is the dork of our dreams on "Criminal Minds."

He's funny, smart, adorable, and wears a button-up like a pro. It's hard to share the screen with Shemar Moore and still look handsome, but Matthew Gray Gubler does it, and he does it well.

Here are the nine times we had heart eyes over Spencer. You're welcome.

Jon Snow Is in 'Game of Thrones' Season 6, With a Catch

Posted:

Jon Snow Game of ThronesKit Harington wants "Game of Thrones" fans to accept that Jon Snow is dead and that he's not starring in season 6 of the HBO drama.

The fate of his character has been the subject of much speculation since last year's finale, but the actor adamantly told Time Out London that Jon is dead, deal with it.

"Look, I'm not in the show any more. I'm definitely not in the new series," he said.

Harington has been spotted on set in Northern Ireland, though. There's a reason for that: "I filmed some scenes of me being dead," he explained, then joked, "It's some of my best work."

Of course, Harington, the show's producers, and other cast members have all stated in the past that Jon Snow is definitely dead. Somehow, we think that probably won't stop fans from theorizing on ways the character could still be alive. We'll find out the truth when "Game of Thrones" season 6 premieres April 24.

Well, it spawned an American remake ("Point of No Return"), two TV series, and a filmmaking career (Luc Besson's) centered on telling stories of strong women fighting against a world of brutality and betrayal. But it also spawned a new kind of action heroine: sexy, stylish, lethal, full of attitude -- and not afraid to show the emotional toll of her violent ways.
