Pretty Little Liars Season 5 Episode 15 Recap: The Liars Destroy Evidence!

Posted:

Remember last week when the pretty little liars had Alison DiLaurentis arrested for Mona Vanderwaal's murder? And then they were like "hooray, we captured A!" How adorable. Clearly these poor girls have learned zero lessons from being stalked by a deranged it-girl, because A is still very much around, and s/he's out for blood.

This week, the ladies realize that Detective Holbrock might be helping Ali get her A-game on in jail, and they make it their mission to discover the truth. Eager to find out more? Check out our recap, which we swear is less complicated than actually watching "Pretty Little Liars."

In Which Toby Expects Us To Believe He's A Policeman and Spencer Joins Team Caleb

In case the uniform and sudden interest in giant photographic lenses wasn't a giveaway, Toby Cavanaugh is still a policeman. Which is still hilarious. Toby's job has come in pretty handy (or should we say "job" -- seriously, what does he actually do all day?), and this week he recovers a bloody knife while strolling around Mona's property. Said knife belongs to the Cavanaugh family, and Toby wants to turn it over to the police so they can run prints and hopefully ID Ali as Mona's killer. However, Spencer and Caleb are like "this is the worst idea ever, even worse than the time you whittled a rocking chair" (in so many words) and want to destroy the knife so A can't get his/her mitts on it.

Obviously, this leads to Toby having a mini-breakdown about policeman ethics, which puts major pressure on his relationship with Spencer. Ultimately, she decides to betray Toby's trust and sneak into the woods to steal the knife with Caleb, who intends to melt it in a kiln. Of course, Caleb gets himself locked in the kiln and almost burns to death, so ya know. The usual.

In Which Ali Mopes In Prison, Ezra Is The Worst Boss Ever, and Ms. Marin Makes An Unlikely Friend

Wondering how Ali's spending her time in prison? Aside from wearing a jaunty orange jumpsuit, she whiles away her day feeling sorry for herself, getting her hair blown-out (it looks really good, just saying) and trying to convince her former friends that she's innocent. Ali even tells Hanna that she has an alibi for Mona's death -- she was busy being stood up by her old enemy Cyrus Petrillo! But does Hanna believe her? Not a chance.

In other news, it appears as though Ezra's decided that he's bored with his current pastime of stalking teenagers, and has opened a local book store / coffee shop. This makes him Emily's boss, which is all kinds of awkward -- especially when he hires a girl named Talia to replace her as a caterer for opening night. Poor Emily just wants to earn enough money to buy plane tickets to see Paige, and it's like get your act together Ezra, you're literally a millionaire. Buy this poor girl her air fare!

Meanwhile, Hanna's mom, Mrs. Marin has started working with Jason DiLaurentis, which is a slightly awkward situation for all parties involved -- especially because Jason and Mrs. Marin sleep together and Hanna finds them.

Annnnnd moving right along....

In Which Aria Puts Her Relationship In Jeopardy and Hanna's Teddy Bear Gets Disemboweled In A Trailer Park

Apparently there is life after Rosewood, and the pretty little liars are in the midst of college applications! The problem? Aria hasn't gotten into any schools, and to make matters worse Ezra's ex-girlfriend, Jackie, works in admissions at the only college she gets wait-listed at. In an act of pure desperation, Aria writes Jackie a letter saying that her relationship with Ezra ruined her life, and shockingly it does the trick. Jackie pities Aria and accepts her application, but we have a feeling it won't be too long before A plants a copy of her letter on Ezra...in fact Aria finds a fragment of the letter at the end of this episode...

So, what's Hanna up to while her friends repeatedly get attacked by A? This unlikely brainiac goes out of town to visit a school, and ends up wandering to a creepy trailer park where she stares in horror at what appears to a member of Duck Dynasty skinning a cat (the verdict's still out). Turns out Hanna's visiting Detective Holbrook's family home because he was visiting his sick dad -- however, Papa Holbrook leers at Hanna and says that his son hasn't been seen or heard from in weeks. Oh, and after this super-creepy exchange, Hanna strolls back to her car only to discover that her stuffed teddy bear has been filled with bloody organs. So...all in all a great night!

And now, the moment you've been waiting for: It's time for Ezra's opening gala, a fabulous soiree in which Spencer eats terrible empanadas and makes friends with a guy named Johnny Raymond (who's going to be living in her backyard). Good times! Also of note: Emily having an emotional breakdown about how Paige is ignoring her calls, and Spencer having an emotional breakdown about how Toby doesn't listen to her. So many emotions, so little time.

And now, for some burning questions. Where do we start?

1. Why is Paige ignoring Emily? Did they break up and forget to tell us?
2. Is Detective Holbrook really working for Ali? And if he isn't, where was he during his so-called "trip to see his dad"?
3. Will Spencer and Toby break up now that he's a policeman? Considering that two of Spencer's best friends are murderers, he should probably watch himself.
4. Is Ali telling the truth about her alibi, or is this another one of her lies?
5. Why did Mona's murderer use a knife from Toby's cabin -- could someone in his family be the killer?

Oscars 2015: Predicting the Nominations

Posted:

oscars 2015 nomineesThis year's Oscar race has been a thorny one to predict. Despite the emergence early on of a few front-runners in each category -- overall, the race has been dominated by "Boyhood" and "Birdman," with "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "The "Theory of Everything," and "The Imitation Game" close behind -- it's those last few slots on the ballot in each category that are driving prognosticators nuts. Does "Selma" still have a strong shot in its eligible categories, or has the backlash soured Academy members? Is "Whiplash" big enough to make a dent outside the Supporting Actor category? Is "Nightcrawler" too creepy for the Academy?

We'll find out on Thursday, January 15, at 8:30 a.m. ET / 5:30 a.m. PT, when the Academy announces this year's nominees. Meantime, here are Moviefone's best guesses as to who will earn a seat when the music stops on Thursday and who'll be left standing outside the circle.

Best Picture

The Academy may pick between five and 10 nominees for its top prize. The last couple of years, they've picked nine, and that's likely to continue this year. "Boyhood" and "Birdman" are certain to be among them, and they will almost certainly be joined by "The Grand Budapest Hotel." Adding to the group will almost surely be some of this year's most celebrated biopics, including "The Theory of Everything" and "The Imitation Game." "Selma," too, will probably be a nominated biopic, despite the current contretemps over its fudging of history. "American Sniper" is a bit more of a longshot, as is "Unbroken." The odds are longer still for "Gone Girl," though it's the biggest hit to date of any of the Oscar contenders. Its box office could be enough to earn it a mention (the Academy wants so desperately to be more populist and thereby drive up the ceremony's TV ratings), though it doesn't hurt that it was actually a well-crafted thriller that's sure to receive at least one other major nomination and possibly three (see below). Conversely, "Big Eyes" barely made a dent at the box office; despite likely nominations for a performance or two, it almost certainly won't crack the top category. "Into the Woods" could make it, though, following the path trod by "Les Miserables" a couple years ago. And the Academy likes writer/director Mike Leigh enough to make "Mr. Turner" a dim possibility. Finally, there are well-regarded indies "Foxcatcher" and "Whiplash," at least one of which will squeeze in.

Best Director

Unfortunately, only five of the Best Picture nominees, at most, can earn Best Director nods. "Boyhood's" Richard Linklater and "Birdman's" Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu are the only locks here, though the fondness for "Grand Budapest Hotel" shown so far by the BAFTAs, the Golden Globes, and now the Directors Guild of America could extend to the Academy as well, meaning Wes Anderson is a near-certainty as well. Speaking of the Directors Guild -- usually a very accurate predictor in this category -- their nominations, announced on Tuesday, include those three names, plus Oscar favorite Clint Eastwood ("American Sniper") and little-known British director Morten Tyldum ("The Imitation Game"). They snubbed "Gone Girl's" David Fincher and "Selma's" Ava DuVernay, though the latter could have suffered because the guilds didn't get screeners of her movie. The Academy did, however, and the current groundswell of support for "Selma" could mean an Oscar nomination for her instead of Tyldum. On the other hand, Tyldum's DGA nod means his closest rival, "The Theory of Everything" director James Marsh, is probably out of luck at the Oscars. So are longshots Bennett Miller ("Foxcatcher"), Damian Chazelle ("Whiplash"), Rob Marshall ("Into the Woods"), Angelina Jolie ("Unbroken")

Best Actor

"Birdman" comeback-star Michael Keaton is a lock. So are British biopic actors Eddie Redmayne ("The Theory of Everything"), Benedict Cumberbatch ("The Imitation Game"), and probably David Oyelowo ("Selma"). That leaves a slot that could go to fellow Brits Ralph Fiennes ("The Grand Budapest Hotel") or Timothy Spall (in another biopic, "Mr. Turner"), but look for it to go to "Foxcatcher's" Steve Carell, since his transformation from popular comic actor to chilly, unrecognizable villain is the kind of backstory the Oscars love. The one possible surprise would be a vote for Jake Gyllenhaal's creepy turn in "Nightcrawler," but then, that performance has already received a surprising amount of awards love this season. As for Bradley Cooper, on top of his game in "American Sniper": your turn will come, but probably not this year.

Best Actress

The one sure thing in this category is Julianne Moore as an early-onset Alzheimer's patient in "Still Alice." The love for "The Theory of Everything" probably means Felicity Jones will be here, too. And while few loved "Big Eyes," the Academy probably hasn't yet run out of love for Amy Adams, so she's a likely contender, too. Reese Witherspoon's "Wild" made a respectable-sized splash, and Oscar loves a comeback, so she's got a good shot. Rosamund Pike's tricky "Gone Girl" performance will probably round out the category. There's a possibility, though that Jennifer Aniston will oust one of the weaker candidates (that is, anyone but Moore), since her dramatic transformation in "Cake" plays to the same backstory as Carell (beloved TV comic in an unflattering, vanity-free dramatic turn). Oh, and while critics have loved past Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard in both "Two Days, One Night" and "The Immigrant," those movies don't seem to have been on Oscar's radar. Neither was "The Homesman," so tough luck, Hilary Swank. "Into the Woods" has been huge, but Meryl Streep will suck up all that movie's oxygen, so Emily Blunt probably won't land a Best Actress nomination this time.

Best Supporting Actor

J.K. Simmons's hard-charging jazz teacher in "Whiplash" is a sure bet for a nomination -- and probably the win. The love for "Boyhood" will earn a nod for Ethan Hawke; ditto for "Birdman" and Edward Norton. Mark Ruffalo is a likely fourth for "Foxcatcher." Christoph Waltz has won this prize twice in recent years; that won't stop him from earning a nomination for "Big Eyes," though it will keep him from winning. But instead of Waltz, the fifth slot could easily go to Robert Duvall in "The Judge," since he's been an Oscar favorite for decades (he's been nominated seven times and won once). Plus, if he wins, the 84-year-old would beat Christopher Plummer's record as the oldest acting winner ever.

Best Supporting Actress

"Boyhood" co-star Patricia Arquette has been the favorite in this category since last summer; that won't change on Thursday. Emma Stone will ride the wave of "Birdman" love to a nomination as well. Meryl Streep will set a record with her 19th nomination, for her "Into the Woods" witch. (Sorry, Anna Kendrick, but that will be the movie's only nomination in this category.) Keira Knightley seems all but a certainty for "The Imitation Game." Jessica Chastain has been earning all kinds of awards love for "A Most Violent Year," even though almost no one in America has seen the film yet. And that's five. Sorry, Rene Russo ("Nightcrawler") and Laura Dern ("Wild"), but this isn't your year.

Best Original Screenplay

"Boyhood" and "Birdman" will be duking it out here, as elsewhere. "Foxcatcher" benefits from being one of the few biopics not based on a book. Same with Mike Leigh's "Mr. Turner." That last one could get ousted by the higher profile "Selma" script written by Paul Webb, but the controversy over its historical accuracy and the reports that director DuVernay essentially rewrote it put a nomination in serious jeopardy. So the fifth slot will almost certainly go to Wes Anderson for "The Grand Budapest Hotel." "Whiplash" should be here, but an Academy technicality has placed it in the adapted category, where, hopefully, Oscar voters have noticed its surprise inclusion.

Best Adapted Screenplay

"The Theory of Everything" and "The Imitation Game" -- the "Boyhood" and "Birdman" of biopics -- will duke it out here. "Gone Girl" will almost certainly get a nod; not only will the Academy admire the way first-time screenwriter Gillian Flynn performed the difficult task of adapting her twisty best-seller to the screen while keeping the suspense intact, but she'll also offer the rare chance of nominating a woman. (Yeah, shouldn't matter, but it will.) "Wild" and "Inherent Vice" are also difficult literary adaptations, but since few have read Thomas Pynchon, voters won't recognize what an accomplishment Paul Thomas Anderson's "Vice" screenplay is. That leaves room for perhaps "American Sniper" or "Unbroken," also challenging biographical adaptations. If Oscar voters noticed "Whiplash's" sudden appearance in this category's ballot, it could squeeze in, too. "Into the Woods" is doubtful, as nominations for librettists who adapt their own musicals to the screen are rare. (Too bad, James Lapine.)

Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale Team Up for Drama 'The Big Short'

Posted:

US-ENTERTAINMENT-PREMIERE-UNBROKEN
A trio of Hollywood heartthrobs are joining forces for a new project: Variety reports that Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, and Christian Bale are set to star in "The Big Short."

The drama is based on author Michael Lewis's book "The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine," which tells the story behind the build-up to the housing bubble burst and 2007-2010 financial crisis. Lewis also penned "Moneyball," which Pitt also adapted for the big screen.

"Anchorman" director Adam McKay is writing the "Big Short" screenplay, a departure for the comedy-minded filmmaker. According to Variety, it's unclear if he'll also helm the flick.

It's also unclear just what roles Pitt, Gosling, and Bale will play in the film, though Variety reports that it will most likely feature those A-listers in "similiar-sized roles" throughout the movie, akin to other films like "Traffic" or "The Counselor."

Studio Paramount had no comment on Variety's report. Stay tuned for further details.

New 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Trailer Shows Our Heroes Torn Apart (VIDEO)

Posted:

Avengers: Age of UltronA new trailer for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" amps up the destruction and fraught relations plaguing our heroes, with each member of the titular gang questioning his or her role in saving the world.

The clip begins with Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) stating the obvious: the threat facing Earth may be too big for the Avengers to handle.

"This vulnerable world needs something more powerful than any of us," he says, as shots of rubble and chaos abound.

This time, the group is facing off with Ultron (James Spader), who's making it his mission to drive wedges between our heroes in an effort to thwart them saving the day.

"I'm going to tear you apart from the inside," the villain promises, and it seems as if he's initially successful.

In one memorable moment, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) snarls at Iron Man, then later is seen having a tender moment with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). Could the pair be forming an alliance -- and a potential romance? -- in a split from the rest of the Avengers? That conflict should make up the bulk of "Ultron."

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is due in theaters on May 1.

Derek Hough Is Leaving 'Dancing with the Stars' -- But Only for Season 20

Posted:

The Weinstein Company & Netflix's 2015 Golden Globes After Party Presented By FIJI Water, Lexus, Laura Mercier And Marie Claire
Perennial "Dancing with the Stars" favorite Derek Hough is leaving the show for its upcoming 20th season -- but fans of the dancer won't be without him for long.

A rep for Hough confirmed with Variety that he's stepping down from "DWTS" next season to focus on his starring role in Radio City Music Hall's "New York Spring Spectacular," in which he plays the male lead opposite "Nashville" star Laura Benanti. The production kicks off in March and runs for seven weeks, conflicting with the "Dancing" schedule.

"I am ecstatic that I'll be able to extend my passion for performing to the Great Stage of Radio City Music Hall in New York Spring Spectacular," Hough said in a statement. "Performing at Radio City Music Hall in a show that celebrates everything that is beloved about New York City is a dream. I can't wait to show fans this production...it's going to be like nothing they've seen me in before."

But according to Variety, Hough's leave of absence from "DWTS" is only temporary, with the dancer planning on returning to the long-running reality show for its 21st season. No word from "Dancing" network ABC yet on Hough's plans.

'Parks & Recreation' Final Season: What You Need to Know

Posted:

It's so hard to say goodbye... especially when it comes to one of our favorite sitcoms of the last few decades. "Parks & Recreation" begins its final season Tuesday, January 13th, which means we'll soon be parting with the lovable Leslie Knope and company.

We've waited months for Season 7 to arrive and now the end is getting realer and realer. But it ain't over til it's over, folks. Leslie wouldn't want us to get prematurely down about this, now would she?

Just what do we have to look forward to and where did we leave off? Here's a handy primer before you tune in.

How did Season 6 end?

-Ben and Leslie were are expecting triplets.

-There was an epic Pawnee/Eagleton Unity Concert featuring performances by Ginuwine (Donna's cousin) and Letters to Cleo. Mouse Rat reunited.

-Last season, Leslie debated going for a job as Regional Director of the Midwest National Parks Service ... which just happened to be in very inconvenient Chicago. But she was ultimately able to take the position out of Pawnee, thanks to Ron's remodeling of the City Hall's third floor.

-There was a three year time jump! This allowed us to get a taste of the future of the "Parks" gang, which included Leslie entrenched in her new position. Also, Jon Hamm.

What do we know about Season 7?

-There are only 13 episodes. We know. Total bummer.

-The remaining episodes will be airing back-to-back weekly, so every Tuesday you'll get two for the price of one. Remember, don't change the channel after that first one ends!

-The show continues to take place in the future and loose ends will be tied up along the way.

"The whole season takes place in the year 2017 - we did a time jump into the future at the end of last year. So there is a slight tinge of science fiction that permeates everything and a lot of fun jokes about how the world has changed in three years," showrunner Mike Schur told "Rolling Stone."

-Here's the synopsis for the first episode, "2017":

"In the Season 7 premiere, Leslie enters into a competition with the tech company Gryzzl for a large parcel of land, which she wants to turn into a national park. Meanwhile, April and Andy try to become more spontaneous; and Ben is honored with a speech by Tom at a Bicentennial Gala."

-In the tradition of the show, there will be terrific guest stars! "SNL" alum Rachel Dratch is slated to appear, for starters. Lots of favorites will be returning to the small screen for the final eps, too, including Jon Hamm, Paul Rudd, and Megan Mullally. Tammy Two, we welcome you with open arms.

-Johnny Karate (Andy's children's character) has his own TV show. Now that's a spinoff we would totally watch...

-Gerry goes by Terry now.

-Ann (Rashida Jones) and Chris (Rob Lowe) WILL be back.

-The finale airs sooner than you think: February 24th. But Mike Schur went on to say, " I believe and hope that the finale is one of the best episodes that we've ever done." So there's that! In the meantime, treat yo self to the farewell season...

'Gone Girl''s Fincher, Affleck, Flynn to Remake 'Strangers on a Train'

Posted:

Opening Night Gala Presentation And World Premiere Of
Fresh off the success of their teaming on "Gone Girl," director David Fincher, star Ben Affleck, and screenwriter Gillian Flynn are reportedly set to remake Alfred Hitchcock's classic "Strangers on a Train."

Deadline has the scoop that so far Fincher and Affleck are both on board for the reboot, and Flynn, who adapted her own novel for "Gone Girl," is in talks to pen the script. Affleck will also produce the flick, which is set up at Warner Bros.

The reboot, which will reportedly simply be called "Strangers," also has a pretty interesting plot, according to Deadline. Per the site:

Though the Hitchcock remake-a Warner Bros library title and an adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel-will be its basis, this film will be contemporary and redefined for the times. This one might be best titled Strangers On A Plane, as Affleck will play a variation of the role played by Farley Granger of a tennis pro who is bored with his marriage and wants to get divorced, but instead gets entwined with a wealthy socialite psycho who proposes the notion of exchanging murders. The twist here is a compelling one. Affleck will play a movie star-in the middle of campaign for an Oscar during awards season-whose private plane breaks down and is given a ride to LA on another plane by a wealthy stranger. In Fincher's hands, who knows how that goes, but it sure does seem like fertile ground.

Sounds like juicy stuff. And with the proven team of Fincher, Affleck, and Flynn on board, it seems like a no-brainer that audiences will line up for the flick.

Stay tuned to see how this development shakes out.

'Community' Season 6 Will Premiere in March

Posted:

Community
At long last, the sixth (and final?) season of "Community" has a premiere date.

The former NBC comedy will make its Yahoo! Screen debut on March 17, with two brand new episodes. After that, one new episode will debut weekly for the rest of the show's 13-episode season.

That's a big change from the model that Netflix pioneered, putting up an entire season of original content all at once. No word yet on how "Community" fans will like Yahoo!'s plan, though considering it mirrors the show's former broadcast network schedule, it shouldn't be too big of an adjustment.

In addition to the announcement, which came Tuesday during the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Yahoo! also debuted a new image from season six. Check it out below, and log onto Yahoo! Screen in March for more from the Greendale gang.

'The Walking Dead' Trailer Teases Unity and Uncertainty (VIDEO)

Posted:

The Walking DeadWe still have a few more weeks before the fifth season of "The Walking Dead" returns from hiatus, but a new teaser trailer for the midseason premiere hammers home the group's resolve to survive, despite the uncertainty that it faces.

The short clip depicts Rick, Daryl, Carol, and the rest of the group wandering through a misty forest, weapons raised in anticipation of the dangers that await within. Suddenly, everyone opens fire, their faces a mixture of anger and fear.

"Surviving together is all that matters," Rick says in voiceover. But after the loss of Beth during the midseason finale, the likelihood of that proclamation seems a bit more difficult to swallow.

"The Walking Dead" will resume its fifth season on AMC on February 8 at 9 p.m.

'Penny Dreadful' Season 2 Trailer Is a Blood Bath

Those chilling words close out the new trailer for season 2 of Showtime's "Penny Dreadful." They're preceded by equally spine-tingling images, of Eva Green's Vanessa Ives wandering desolate moors and breathing heavily as she stares, horrified, at some oncoming danger.

But the most striking image is of Helen McCrory's Madame Kali aka Evelyn Poole, this year's big bad. She's lounging in a bathtub filled with blood - how very Countess Elizabeth Bathory of her.

"Penny Dreadful" returns April 26 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.

'Spy' Trailer: Melissa McCarthy Is Ready to Kick Ass

Posted:

SPYMelissa McCarthy may look sweet and cuddly, but her enemies won't know what hit 'em in the upcoming comedy "Spy."

There's a new trailer for the movie, which teams up McCarthy with her "Bridesmaids" and "The Heat" director Paul Feig. McCarthy is a behind-the-scenes analyst who supports her dashing, James Bond-like fellow agents (Jude Law and Jason Statham). But when their covers are blown, McCarthy has to step in - posing as a divorced housewife from Iowa - and go mano a mano with enemy agent Rose Byrne.

"Spy" looks to have the same blend of goofy hijinks and crimefighting as "The Heat," so undoubtedly it'll be a big hit. The movie also stars Allison Janney, Bobby Cannavale, and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, and opens in theaters May 22.

People Woody AllenEverybody really does want to do TV now. Amazon announced today that iconic film director Woody Allen will create his first-ever television series for their streaming platform.

The untitled half-hour project has received a full season commitment, with Allen to write and direct all episodes. The coup comes on the heels of Amazon winning its first major TV award, a Golden Globe for best comedy for "Transparent" (as well as Jeffrey Tambor's win for best comedy actor).

"Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it's an honor to be working with him on his first television series," said Roy Price, Vice President of Amazon Studios. "From Annie Hall to Blue Jasmine, Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn't be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year."

Added Allen, "I don't know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I'm not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this."

Other details, including casting and premiere dates, are still in the works.

Matthew McConaughey's 'Dazed and Confused' Audition Is Alright, Alright, Alright

Posted:

matthew mcconaughey auditions for dazed and confusedLong before the McConnaissance, in 1993, Matthew McConaughey was just a film student at the University of Texas at Austin looking for a break. He got one from an unknown director named Richard Linklater, who was making a little movie about high school kids.

Well, that little movie, "Dazed and Confused," became an iconic cult classic. And some 20 years later, the actor who played an affable stoner went on to win a Best Actor Oscar, and Linklater is poised to rake in Oscars for his much-lauded film "Boyhood."

A new Criterion Collection release of "Dazed and Confused" has unveiled McConaughey's audition video for the film, and it's a gem! Even in the stilted surroundings of an audition, McConaughey's star quality shines through:

Best of Late Night TV: Jimmy Fallon's Tarantula Trauma, Gordon Ramsay's Prison Bakery (VIDEO)

Posted:

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.

This may be the wrong way to wake up, but in the video below you can watch tarantulas crawl all over Jimmy Fallon.

On Monday night, Jimmy had a visit from Jeff Musial's animal kingdom, including an adorable Siberian lynx, a red kangaroo, and a couple of Mexican white and red-kneed tarantulas. Jimmy looked uncomfortable through the whole thing, even before Jeff randomly put a tarantula on his shoulder. Jimmy kept repeating, "I don't like spiders," but apparently Jeff got the OK from someone because he kept adding tarantulas onto his head, face and hand. Poor Jimmy looked traumatized. It didn't help that Jeff kept shouting "Don't move! Don't move!" Nightmare material. Jimmy melodramatically collapsed when they were finally off him. Jeff said one of the tarantulas pooped on Jimmy's head, which probably illustrated his/her own trauma. Doubt they wanted to be there either! In this video, Jeff brings out a cobra and has Jimmy snake charm the cobra. Stay for the big shock around 1:30:
Charlie Day was also on "The Tonight Show," and he played "5-Second Summaries" with Jimmy. They did not do that well, but it's funny. Gordon Ramsay was on "Late Show with David Letterman," talking about Bad Boys' Bakery, which features goods baked by prison inmates. "Workaholics" star Adam DeVine was also on "Late Show," explaining how getting hit by a cement truck as a kid helped his career. Casey Wilson was on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," and she told the story of when her father got a perm. He went into the salon with a $20 bill, saying he wanted to look like Andrew Jackson. Classic! Seth's gift to her on the subject is classic too. Casey also talked about the second season of her Real Housewives spoof show, which will now be "Hotwives of Las Vegas." Her new character sounds awesome.
Seth also shared his Golden Globes experience, including how the air conditioning wasn't working that well. He was at the table with the Gyllenhaals and wanted to hug Maggie (who is basically a stranger to him) when she won. He was also at a table with Quvenzhane Wallis, who "iced" him.
The co-hosts of "The View" have taken over "The Late Late Show" for a while, and Ozzy Osbourne joined wife Sharon to talk about potentially being knighted. He'd like it so Sharon can be a lady. Miss you already, Craig! "Portlandia" duo Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein were on "Conan," so Coco wins the night. Carrie talked about her many marriage proposals on Twitter (she said she might call their bluff and say yes, or do her own "micro" version of "The Bachelor"), and Fred fired back at fellow SNL alum Bill Hader's impression of him. Bill's Fred impression was awesome, but Fred decided to do his own impression, mocking Bill for his T-rex hands and habit of "discovering" bands that everyone has already heard of. "Workaholics" star Blake Anderson was also on "Conan" and he talked about his pre-fame jobs.

The New 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Trailer Brings the Heat (VIDEO)

Posted:

It's almost unfathomable that "Avengers: Age of Ultron," the most highly anticipated superhero sequel, well, ever, is just around the corner. Although, also, it seems like "The Avengers" was only yesterday and that happened way back in the year of our lord 2012. So we might be stuck in some kind of time loop. The point is: "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is very, very close to coming out (May 1st!) and the brand new trailer will make that wait a whole lot harder than it was before you watched it.

This trailer is certainly moodier than the first trailer (and, indeed, the first film), with lots of shots tinted a grayish blue and people running for their lives in war-ravaged lands. You get a little more background as to why genius billionaire superhero (and former arms dealer) Tony Stark aka Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) decides to build the nefarious Ultron (voiced by James Spader). "This vulnerable world, it needs something more powerful than any of us," Tony intones with the utmost severity. Yes, we're a long way from pithy quips like, "We've got a Hulk." The rest of the trailer shows our heroes (Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Chris Evans's Captain America, Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye) in various states of combat and consternation, with relatively few glimpses of the new characters (Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch).

Of note: we still haven't seen The Vision (Paul Bettany), supposedly a very important character in this new movie. Oh, and Andy Serkis! Andy Serkis is in this trailer!

In short, it looks really very cool and we can't wait to see it. See you on opening day!
