Paul Walker's Daughter Suing Porsche Over Fatal Crash

Paul Walker Daughter suing porsche fatal crashANTHONY McCARTNEY, AP Entertainment Writer

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Paul Walker's daughter is suing Porsche, claiming the sports car that her father was in when he was killed two years ago suffered from numerous design defects.

The lawsuit filed Monday by Meadow Rain Walker seeks unspecified damages for defects that her lawyers claim kept the actor trapped in the Porsche Carrera GT when it crashed and burst into flames in November 2013.

The suit claims the car, which was marketed as a street-legal race car, lacked a proper stability control system and safeguards to protect occupants and keep it from catching fire after a collision.

An email sent to representatives of Porsche North America was not immediately returned.

The lawsuit was first reported Monday by celebrity website TMZ.

Walker's death occurred on a break in the filming of "Furious 7," the latest sequel in the "Fast & Furious" franchise.

"Agatha Christie's Poirot"
Find out what the funny little Belgian with the egg-shaped head brilliantly deduces this time when Series 12 of David Suchet's mystery series hits Netflix September 30.

TV Worth Watching

"The Daily Show With Trevor Noah" (Monday on Comedy Central at 11 p.m.)
No one can ever -- ever! -- replace Jon Stewart, but Trevor Noah is going to take his place behind the "Daily Show" desk starting September 28. Wish him luck.

"Saturday Night Live" (Saturday on NBC at 11:30 p.m.)
Miley Cyrus is the host and musical guest in the Season 41 premiere, which will also feature Jon Rudnitsky's debut as a new SNL cast member.

"The Good Wife" (Sunday on CBS at 9 p.m.)
Sunday, October 4 offers an embarrassment of riches for TV fans. There are three great premieres at 9 p.m. alone: "Homeland" on Showtime, "The Leftovers" on HBO, and "The Good Wife" on CBS. We're sticking with Alicia Florrick (Julianne Margulies) for live TV, and the rest can go on the DVR or On Demand. In "The Good Wife" Season 7 premiere, Margo Martindale shows up as a political strategist to help Peter (Chris Noth) with his presidential campaign, and that creates an interesting dynamic with Eli (Alan Cumming).

The Olsen Twins Are 'Always Welcome' on 'Fuller House,' John Stamos Says

Posted:

J.Mendel Spring 2012 Fashion ShowIt's been the biggest story surrounding the announcement of "Fuller House," other than the fact that "Full House" would be revived in the first place: Will the Olsen twins be back? The answer, so far, has been a definitive "no," but that hasn't stopped one of their former costars from leaving the door open.

In an interview with "Today," John Stamos chatted with host Matt Lauer about the possibility, with Lauer asking, "Might they pull off one of the great surprises and make an appearance?"

"They're fully welcome. Any time," Stamos replied. "I love them. There was a lot of, I think, miscommunication in the press and stuff. I mean, I talked to them, I understood why they didn't want to come back. I mean, they just have big lives. They haven't acted in a while. But I love them dearly and they're always welcome on our show."

That's a bit of an about-face for the actor, who earlier this summer called BS on Mary-Kate and Ashley for claiming to not know about the series. But like his fellow costar Bob Saget, it seems that now there truly are no hard feelings, and it's nice to know that everyone would welcome the twosome should they decide change their minds.

It probably won't happen, but fans can dream, right? And as Lauer joked, they'd only need one twin to appear, anyway.

"Fuller House" is set to hit Netflix sometime next year.

This 'Spider-Gwen' Trailer Reimagines Emma Stone as the Real Hero

Posted:

spider-gwen, emma stone, amazing spider-manSick and tired of boys getting all the attention -- and fresh off the success of a new Marvel comic series -- the folks at Vulture have reimagined Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy character as the actual hero of the "Amazing Spider-Man" series, with some pretty awesome results.

The fake trailer for "Spider-Gwen," based on the comic of the same name, centers on Gwen (Stone, with an assist from body double and cosplayer Julianne Cancalosi), who's bitten by a radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker. In voiceover cobbled from various Stone flicks (including the Oscar-winning "Birdman," which also supplies some footage that doubles as "Spider-Man" villain the Vulture), Gwen explains what it's like for a teenager to suddenly be giving such great powers -- especially a teen who just happens to have such a powerful policeman for a father.

It's a little choppy in places, but then again, it's not a real movie -- which is a real shame. The fact of the matter is that there have been so few quality depictions of female superheroes on the big screen; that this looks so entertaining, and doesn't even exist, is the real crime.

Check out the awesomeness for yourself below. Can someone start a petition to get "Spider-Gwen" into theaters?

John Stamos Reunited With the Beach Boys for Some 'Full House' Nostalgia

Posted:

US-ENTERTAINMENT-TELEVISION-EMMYS-ARRIVALS"Full House" fanatics will remember that the Beach Boys seemed to pop up on the sitcom all the time, and John Stamos stoked that nostalgia this weekend thanks to a surprise appearance with the rockers at the Los Angeles County Fair.

Of course, Stamos wasn't just reliving his Uncle Jesse glory days; in fact, the reason the band appeared so often on the show -- including a memorable season two episode where D.J. won tickets to their concert, and then the entire extended Tanner clan came up on stage to jam with the band -- is because Stamos is actually friends with the Boys. The actor toured occasionally with the band throughout the 1980s, and even appeared in their music video for "Kokomo"; he's popped up at multiple other concerts with them over the years, too.

So it makes sense, then, that Stamos would stop by for another impromptu performance with the Beach Boys this weekend, his first since completing a stint in rehab this summer. At the concert, he played drums, bongos, and guitar, and helped sing along to tunes including "Kokomo" and "Why Do Fools Fall in Love." He was introduced to the crowd with images of Uncle Jesse that flashed on the big screen, much to the delight of the crowd.

Check out some photos and videos from the event below, and keep your fingers crossed that the Beach Boys make a cameo on "Fuller House," too.

ON the drums.

8 Stars You Won't Believe Got Their Start in Horror Movies

Posted:

Everyone needs to start somewhere and for a lot of Hollywood stars, their first big break was in a low-budget horror film.

You already know that Kevin Bacon got skewered in the first "Friday the 13th," and that Jennifer Aniston had to defend herself from a murderous sprite in "Leprechaun." But you might not have seen some of these future Oscar winners and superheroes' early films where they had to pretend to be terrified of parasites, critters, vampires and (the horror!) evil corn.

29 Times 'Lizzie McGuire' Was the Most Important Show in Your Life

Posted:

Oh, "Lizzie McGuire." How could we have made it through our painfully awkward adolescence without you?

There are few shows more important to anyone who grew up in the 2000s than The Disney Channel's "Lizzie McGuire." Lizzie (Hilary Duff) -- along with besties Gordo (Adam Lamberg) and Miranda (Lalaine) -- handled life's most humiliating moments with class. OK, not really, but they made middle school life so much better by showing us all that you can get through the misery with humor, heart, and the support of family and friends. Also, emphasis on the humor.

So, in honor of the special place where "Lizzie McGuire" lives in our hearts, here are some of the show's most important/memorable moments.

Vin Diesel Says a New 'Fast & Furious' Trilogy Will End the Series

Posted:

Premiere Of Universal Pictures' There may not be a director yet for "Furious 8," but according to star Vin Diesel, there are still some big things in store for the franchise.

Diesel took to his Facebook page on Friday to announce that not only is he hard at work on helping develop the eighth flick in the franchise, but that the series (or in his words, "SAGA") would continue for a new trilogy, before wrapping up with a 10th film. Those ambitious plans are the reason, according to Diesel, that "Furious 8" doesn't have a director yet, refuting claims that multiple people have turned down the job, thanks in part to his own difficulty during the production of "Furious 7." (Studio Universal has also denied those claims.)

In his Facebook post last week, Diesel indicated that he had huge influence in selecting a director for not only "Furious 8," but the next two films as well, and the actor said he was working closely with producer Neal Moritz and Universal to decide who would helm each installment of this new trilogy. Diesel then promised that his next post would reveal those directors, though when he updated his page again on Sunday, there was still no progress on that front; instead, Diesel thanked fans for their patience with the process, and for their loyalty to the series.

The fans of the Fast & Furious SAGA are the best fans in the world... Since I became the Producer in 2008, you have been...

Posted by Vin Diesel on Friday, September 25, 2015

All weekend long, my producing partner Neal, the Studio and myself have been mapping out the future of our SAGA... All...

Posted by Vin Diesel on Sunday, September 27, 2015

As ScreenCrush notes, a trajectory for three more "Furious" flicks would likely mean that "Fast & Furious 10" would come out around 2021, and locking in directors for a project so far in advance is uncommon. But could Diesel be plotting to direct one (or all) of the movies himself? The rumor mill certainly thinks he's gunning for the job, and fans on his Facebook page apparently want to see it happen, too.

We'll have to wait and see how this shakes out in the coming weeks and months. But we can guarantee that Diesel will have plenty to say about it, regardless of what happens.

Quentin Tarantino Hates Netflix, Still Tapes Movies With VHS

Posted:

SiriusXM's Entertainment Weekly Radio Channel Broadcasts From Comic-Con 2015Director Quentin Tarantino is no stranger to shock and awe on the big screen thanks to flicks like "Django Unchained" and "Kill Bill," but it's some recent remarks he's made about streaming that are truly jaw-dropping.

In an excerpt from author Tom Roston's new book "I Lost it at The Video Store: A Filmmakers' Oral History of a Vanished Era," Tarantino and other directors discuss services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, and what they mean for the future of movies. While many of Tarantino's peers say they've embraced the new technology as an inevitable part of Hollywood's evolution, Tarantino remains unconvinced.

"I am not excited about streaming at all," Tarantino says in the book. "I like something hard and tangible in my hand. And I can't watch a movie on a laptop. I don't use Netflix at all."

Instead, Tarantino said, he relies on his library of approximately 8,000 VHS tapes and DVDs, and he still tapes movies off of TV using his VCR. But while he's not necessarily alone in disliking streaming services -- in the same excerpt, David O. Russell calls Netflix "a bunch of dreck" -- he does seem to be clinging to the past more than any other filmmaker interviewed.

In fact, Darren Aronofsky said he's specifically thinking of streaming now when he's making movies, going so far as to commission separate sound mixes of flicks like "Noah" so that they can play properly on devices like smartphones and tablets.

"... [T]here's a real audience there, and you have to be conscious of it," Aronofsky said.

"That's the most depressing thing I've ever heard in my life," Tarantino replied.

It didn't make it into the excerpt, but Tarantino reportedly then sat on his front porch and shook his fist at the local young whippersnappers while shouting at them to get off of his lawn. Afterward, he allegedly set his VCR to record "Wheel of Fortune" and went to bed at 6 p.m. Or so we imagine.

The 9 Best Emergency Room TV Shows, Ranked

Posted:

In real life, the emergency room may be a place where you wait and wait and wait for treatment until your arm falls off, but on TV, it's the most exciting place there is. Every week, life-and-death drama plays out there, and every second counts. The stakes couldn't be higher, or the drama more intense.

And yet, for all the dozens of medical shows that have aired, only a few actually center on the emergency room or emergency doctors and paramedics. There'll be a couple more this fall: "Code Black," on CBS, and "Chicago Med," joining "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago PD" on NBC. Here are some all-time great ER shows for you, stat.

'Who's the Boss?' Star Danny Pintauro Reveals He's HIV-Positive

Posted:

Louis Vuitton Rodeo Drive Store Re-OpeningA former child star has revealed some shocking health news in an effort to raise awareness for others.

Danny Pintauro, who starred on '80s sitcom "Who's the Boss?," appeared on an episode of "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" this weekend and announced that he's HIV-positive. Pintauro, who's now 39, told Oprah that he contracted the virus in February 2003 during a period in his life when he was experimenting heavily with drugs -- specifically crystal meth -- and sex.

Pintauro explained that he first decided to try crystal meth after the end of a two-year relationship, in an effort to lower his inhibitions with new sexual partners. Such drug use is common in the gay community, the actor said, and while it's a widespread practice, it's also dangerous, as Pintauro soon discovered.

" ... [Y]ou can do everything you think you need to do to take care of yourself, but because of what meth does to your brain and to your body, no matter how hard you try, you're still opening yourself up to those possibilities -- whatever STI you can think of, it's so much more prevalent that you're going to pick that up," he told Oprah.

After receiving his diagnosis, Pintauro said he felt worthless, thinking to himself, "No one is ever going to love me now. ... I should just give up on trying to find someone." But eventually, the actor said, he came to terms with his diagnosis; he's now happily married to Wil Tabares, who he wed in 2014. He's also revealed his status to his former "Boss" costars Tony Danza and Judith Light, who he said were "really supportive."

But Pintauro said the main reason he was speaking out now about his diagnosis is because he wants to not only de-stigmatize HIV, but also help others in the gay community prevent contracting the virus in the same way that he did.

"The idea of being gay, coming out as gay and having a meth problem is not that far-fetched of a concept. And that's a problem," Pintauro told Oprah. " ... If you're paying any bit of attention, you realize that HIV isn't a death sentence anymore. That's one of the 'beacon of light' aspects of this whole situation that I want to take on. You can live a healthy life, you can have a happy life. ... For me, HIV is the new closet in the sense that, until we all come out of the HIV closet and start talking about it ... we [won't become] more accepted."

Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting Are Divorcing After 21 Months

Posted:

Glamour Women Of The Year Awards"The Big Bang Theory" star Kaley Cuoco had a whirlwind romance with tennis player husband Ryan Sweeting, and now, the pair are parting ways after 21 months of marriage.

People reports that the couple, who married on December 31, 2013, have decided to divorce. Cuoco's rep released a statement to People confirming the news.

"Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting have mutually decided to end their marriage," the statement said. "They ask for privacy at this time. No further statement will be issued regarding this matter."

Cuoco and Sweeting got engaged in September 2013 after only a few months of dating. Rumors of an impending split surfaced earlier this year, which Cuoco addressed in a since-deleted Instagram post back in April, writing about Sweeting's tennis-related injuries and "constant 'conversation' regarding our marriage and basically any daily decision we decide to make."

After news of the split broke, the actress added another photo to Instagram of her dog, Norman, simply captioned "#mood."
