'Justice League Dark' Trailer: Batman Recruits a New Team To Fight Demons

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 09:00 PM PST

Next year we'll see Batman and Wonder Woman travel all over the world to recruit The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg in Justice League. But if Zack Snyder and the DC Extended Universe on the big screen aren't really working for you these days, there is an alternative. It's called Justice League Dark and will see Batman teaming up with Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and Ertigan the Demon.  No, the long brewing live-action Justice League Dark didn't suddenly materialize overnight. This Justice League Dark is part of the DC Animated Universe and it comes from Batman: The Dark Knight Returns director Jay Olivia. And while the cartoon nature of it may have you thinking this is an all-ages affair, the MPAA has actually handed this an R-rated for...

Matt Damon Says He'll Make an Appearance in 'Ocean's Eight'

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 07:30 PM PST

Unlike Ghostbusters, the all-female version of Ocean's Eleven will be directly connected to its predecessors. Like this year's Ghostbusters reboot, though, the O11 spinoff Ocean's Eight will feature cameos from the original movie's stars. Unlike Ghostbusters, those stars will presumably be reprising their same roles. George Clooney is expected to make at least a brief appearance as Danny Ocean, whose sister, played by Sandra Bullock, is apparently leading this ensemble. Now Matt Damon has also confirmed he'll be showing up. On the red carpet for the premiere of Manchester By the Sea, which he produced, Damon told Entertainment Tonight, "I think I'm doing a little bit in the movie."  He...

'The Green Hornet' Is Getting a Gritty Reboot From 'Warrior' Director

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 06:00 PM PST

Whether he's writing, producing or starring, Seth Rogen tends to be a boon at the box office. Just go look up the box office for Sausage Party, Neighbors, This is the End, Pineapple Express and 50/50. But one of Rogen's rare misses was 2011's The Green Hornet. While it wasn't a major bomb, audiences didn't much care, critics didn't care and it seemed like The Green Hornet's chances at being a big screen sensation were pretty much over. But that was 2011. It's 2016 now and anything's possible, including a gritty reboot of The Green Hornet. Deadline broke the news about the movie, which is jumping homes from Sony to Paramount Pictures. It does not have a star yet, but it does have a director, Gavin O'Connor (Warrior, The Accountant...

Amblin Wants To Pull On All Your Heart Strings With 'Dan and Sam'

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 04:30 PM PST

Amblin movies have always been about heart. The Goonies, E.T., Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, *batteries not included, The Land Before Time-- it doesn't matter what genre, it doesn't matter how unreal or how fantastical a film's premise, an Amblin movie always finds an emotional core to anchor everything.  That said, few Amblin movies have threatened to tug so directly on your heart strings as Dan and Sam. Steven Spielberg's studio has just snapped up the rights to the graphic novel, which is a love story about a couple whose life is going perfectly until Sam's surprise death. Apparently their love is so powerful, however, that it defies the afterlife, with Dan discovering that Sam can still visit him.  There's a catch...

Marvel's 'The Inhumans' Heads First to IMAX, Then to Small Screen

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 01:30 PM PST

First touted as a movie in 2011, Marvel's The Inhumans sounded like a fabulous idea for a big action spectacle. The comic book series followed a team of superhumans who were created by an alien race (the Kree) and eventually abandoned, leaving them to form their own society. One year later, The Avengers hit it big at the box office worldwide, seemingly confirming a popular appetite for superhero team ups. In August 2014, plans appeared to solidify for The Inhumans, as we heard unofficially that Marvel was moving forward on a screenplay written by Joe Robert Cole.   A few months later, Marvel confirmed that the movie was in active development and scheduled for theatrical release on November 2, 2018, later pushed to July 12, 2019. We didn't hear much about the...

Movie News: How 'Deadpool' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Traded Characters; 'Don't Breathe' Director Teases Sequel

Posted: 15 Nov 2016 12:00 PM PST

Deadpool/Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Paul Wernick, who cowrote the script for Deadpool with Rhett Reese, says their desire to give X-Men character Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) different powers than in the Marvel comics required approval by Marvel. In exchange, the Fox studio swapped Ego the Living Planet, a character for which they owned screen rights, with Marvel so that the character could be played by Kurt Russell in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Director James Gunn confirmed the exchange. [The Playlist] Haha yes that’s true. I don’t think Fox knew what a big piece of the cosmic universe puzzle he was going to be (and I had no backup ??). https://t.co/Z19dDwvKgV — James Gunn (@JamesGunn) November 14, 2016   Don't Breathe...
