Watch Anthony Hopkins Hunt a Serial Killer in the 'Solace' Trailer

Posted: 10 Nov 2016 09:00 PM PST

With HBO's Westworld the latest pop culture obsession, Anthony Hopkins is the hottest he's been in years. But will it help draw audiences to Solace? In development for more than a decade, the thriller was shot three years ago and had its world premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival before being shelved due to the Relativity Media bankruptcy. At that time, the movie didn't receive great reviews, either. Fortunately, the delay in Solace's release has put some distance between the bad buzz and this new trailer, which will appeal to fans of 1990s serial killer thrillers. For one thing it showcases Hopkins as a psychic working with the FBI on a hunt for a mass murderer, kind of reminiscent of The Silence of the Lambs except...

'Finding Dory' Director Andrew Stanton Explains Why He's Taking a Break From Animation

Posted: 10 Nov 2016 07:30 PM PST

Andrew Stanton, director of A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo, and Wall-E is taking a break from making animated movies. At least that's what he told us when we spoke on the phone earlier this week about the home video release of his newest movie, Finding Dory.  Before getting doom and gloom about it, let's clarify that Stanton isn't stepping away from directing all together, he just wants to focus on doing them in the real world.  "Definitely what I'm going to do next is some live-action projects. How big they are, how small they are, depends on what rises to the surface first. But I am taking a break from animation," Stanton told us.  This by no means implies that Stanton is stepping away from animation powerhouse Pixar, though. It is his...

You are currently reading words on a website that's all about movies, so it's safe to say that you're more informed than most about upcoming movies. You're probably well aware that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a prequel set before A New Hope. You probably know full well that it's about the group of rebels tasked with stealing the plans to the first Death Star. However, there are a ton of people who are going to show up in theaters this December for the new Star Wars movie expecting a sequel to The Force Awakens and are probably going to be a bit confused when the movie starts and Rey and Finn are nowhere to be found. And if you happen to know someone that fits that bill. Someone who is a definite Star Wars fan but doesn't really follow its comings...

King Kong Roars To Life In New Image From 'Kong: Skull Island'

Posted: 10 Nov 2016 03:00 PM PST

[Image Credit: Legendary Pictures] You're making a new King Kong movie. How do you make the titular monster? You basically just take an ape and make him bigger, right? Wrong. At least for director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who just so happens to be making Kong: Skull Island, that's the wrong way to do it. You can't just take a silverback and make him the size of a small building. That may be intimidating, sure, but it's not particularly memorable in this day and age. More importantly, just making a monster big doesn't mean you've made a character. And even though he may just seem like a destructive force of nature, King Kong needs to feel like a living, breathing character. That's why it's exciting to hear Vogt-Roberts say all of the right things in...

Watch: 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets' Trailer Teases a Very Wild Ride

Posted: 10 Nov 2016 01:30 PM PST

Of all the potential blockbusters on the release calendar, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is arguably the most tantalizing. It's an adaptation of a French comic book series about time travel agents who visit the capital of a vast planetary system to determine whether it might prove to be a danger to Earth. What makes the movie so potentially exciting is that Luc Besson is directing. Besson is a prolific filmmaker who may be best known for his head-spinning work as a producer and/or writer of action movie series like the Taken, Taxi and Transporter franchises. As a director, he most recently hit it big worldwide with the trippy and very fun Lucy, starring Scarlett Johansson. He's often played around with fantasy and sci-fi themes in his movies, most notably...
