Bryan Singer Says 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Is Not the End of a Trilogy

Posted: 26 May 2016 09:00 PM PDT

When X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, it might feel very much like a conclusion to the story that was first introduced in 2011's X-Men: First Class, capping off a trilogy that also featured the hit X-Men: Days of Future Past as its centerpiece. Those who've been following the series since First Class will definitely find certain character and story arcs twisting towards an inevitable (but temporary) conclusion, but those who've been tuning in since 2000's X-Men may find even more. Fandango recently sat down with X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer for a sprawling conversation about Apocalypse, as well as the five other X-Men films that have dazzled audiences for almost two decades. In Singer's mind, Apocalypse doesn't just wrap up a...

Here's a First Look at Katherine Waterston in 'Alien: Covenant'

Posted: 26 May 2016 07:30 PM PDT

Click image to enlarge The photo is captioned "Nowhere to run" on Facebook, with two hashtags reading #AlienCovenant and #Daniels, alluding to this shot of Katherine Waterston being a pivotal moment in the upcoming Ridley Scott-directed film that will follow Prometheus and function as another prequel of sorts to Scott's own Alien movie.  Waterston is playing Daniels, and everything about her screams Ellen Ripley. From the short hair to the sweaty tank top to the badass weapon beside her, they're definitely evoking the series' most iconic character, introducing a new heroine who, from the looks of it, has nowhere to run here. Is she being chased by an alien? Is she the last one left standing (or sitting, from the looks of it)? Definitely looks like...

The Last Horror Blog: Refn Remakes, Carpenter's New 'Halloween' and More Recent Horror News

Posted: 26 May 2016 06:00 PM PDT

John Carpenter returns to Halloween – I had to check my calendar twice when I heard the news that John Carpenter was returning to shepherd a new Halloween film through development. That’s the kind of story you see on April 1. Much to my surprise, it’s still actually May – so news that Carpenter will team up with Blumhouse to create a new Halloween entry appears to be pretty legit. What will the master of horror do for this new film? Produce and maybe write the score according to the news. Details are hard to come by, but Carpenter will serve as a producer and provide input for the new feature. As there’s no script yet, it’s impossible to say whether this will be a sequel, a reboot, or an entirely new thing. The only thing we can say with any...

In August 1977, a single mother in England reported that two of her four children saw furniture moved around by unseen forces. The case caught the attention of the press and eventually noted paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren visited the family. Directed by James Wan, The Conjuring 2 sees Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga once again portraying the Warrens as they investigate a famed case. A new video includes excerpts from the unsettling and creepy audio recordings that helped inspire the movie. Watch it if you dare. The Conjuring 2 will haunt theaters beginning on June 10.

Get Into the Thrill of the Hunt With This Killer 'Predator' Poster From Bottleneck Gallery

Posted: 26 May 2016 03:00 PM PDT

How freaking great is Predator? Not even a consistent string of crummy sequels, bogus video games, and forced crossovers have tarnished how much people love the 1987 original directed by John McTiernan. Not only that, but the look of the Predator is still intimidating nearly 30 years later, which isn't something you can say for other '80s horror icons, particularly Freddy Kreuger, who had their edge dulled by decades of pop culture. Case in point, this arresting new poster for McTiernan's film. It's called "Thrill of the Hunt" and was created by Matt Ferguson for Bottleneck Gallery and Acme Archives and will go on sale at BottleneckGallery.com on Friday May 27th at 12pm EST.  Check out the poster premiere below, and make sure to click 'em...

Watch First 'Clown' Horror Trailer from Producer Eli Roth and the Future 'Spider-Man' Director

Posted: 26 May 2016 01:30 PM PDT

In the fall of 2010, Jon Watts and his friends from college decided to make a fake trailer about a man turning into a clown. They decided to make it look as realistic and serious as possible to fool people into thinking it was a real movie. They posted it on YouTube and were shocked when the video went viral. The premise of the fake trailer for Clown is that a father puts on a clown suit and makeup for his son's birthday party when the clown he hired doesn't show up. Afterwards, the father discovers, to his horror, that the makeup doesn't come off. Watch the fake trailer below. Watts and his friends included fake credits in their fake trailer, notably one that claimed it was directed by Eli Roth. To their astonishment, Roth saw the trailer and contacted them...
