Bruce Lee’s ‘Longstreet’ to officially hit DVD!

North American distributers, Visual Entertainment, has announced the upcoming DVD release of Longstreet, a semi-obscure ABC TV series that aired in 1971-72.

Longstreet follows the adventures of Mike Longstreet (James Franciscus), a blind insurance investigator who’s on a mission to capture the people responsible for killing both his wife and his ability to see.

For kung fu cinema fans, Longstreet is perhaps best known for showcasing Bruce Lee (Enter the Dragon) in 4 episodes: “The Way of the Intercepting Fist”, “Spell Legacy Like Death”, “Wednesday’s Child” and “‘I See’, Said the Blind Man” – all of which will be included in the set.

Bruce Lee historians consider his appearance in the Longstreet series the truest representation of not only his personality, but also his philosophy and art. It’s also one of the very few times we get to hear his actual voice speaking an ample amount of English dialogue.

This will be the first time Longstreet will be officially available in any format in the United States. Up until it goes on sale, the series has only been available through VHS-quality bootlegs.

Visual Entertainment currently doesn’t list a release date, but we’ll definitely keep you posted (via saltysam/TVSOTV).

A sequel to the soon-to-be released Kickboxer: Vengeance, titled Kickboxer: Retaliation, has been officially announced.

There’s no word if John Stockwell (In the Blood) is returning to the director’s chair, but Alain Moussi is definitely reprising his role as Kurt Sloan. Also returning is writer/producer of Kickboxer: Vengeance, Dimitri Logothetis (Wings of the Dragon), who’ll most-likely be taking on the same duties.

There’s also some speculation that UFC Champ Fabrício Werdum is attached. And who knows, maybe this time around, Tony Jaa and Scott Adkins may participate?

Kickboxer: Vengeance hits theaters in 2016. As for Kickboxer: Retaliation, we’ll definitely keep you posted (via MAAC).

Now that Yuen Woo-ping (True Legend) has finished duties on Ip Man 3 and Crouching Tiger, Hidden II, one of his next gigs is a remake of Miracle Fighter, a supernatural kung fu film he directed in 1982.

Lending a hand will be Tsui Hark (The Taking of Tiger Mountain), who is on board as producer and writer.

The original – which starred Leung Kar Yan (Five Shaolin Masters), Yuen Cheung-yan (Once Upon a Time in Shanghai) and Yuen Yat Chor (The Postman Srikes Back) – follows a kung fu master who learns special skills from a pair of priests to defeat an evil magician.

According to FBA: Yuen says that aside from sharing the title of the film, the remake will tell an entirely new story. He said that if the original film was meant to present an alternative form of wuxia film, the new film intends to redefine it.

Miracle Fighters starts production in 2016. Stay tuned for more updates.

First trailer for Scott Adkins’ ‘Jarhead 3: The Siege’

Starring in sequels to earlier theatrical titles is becoming a habit for martial star Scott Adkins (Close Range). First was Undisputed 2 and Undisputed 3 (another sequel is currently pending), then came Green Street 3: Never Back Down, and just recently, it was announced that he’d be doing a Hard Target 2.

Now, Adkins is back at it with Jarhead 3: The Siege, a similarly themed, but unrelated sequel to the first two Jarhead movies. This one revolves around a group of Marines who must protect a US Embassy in the Middle East when it suddenly comes under attack from enemy forces.

Judging from the newly released trailer to Jarhead 3: The Siege, those looking for Adkins to show off his fighting ability may be left disappointed – because it looks like it’s more about gunfights and explosions than weaponless action – but then again, you’ll never know what the full movie has to offer.

Jarhead 3: The Siege is directed by William Kaufman (One in the Chamber) and also stars Charlie Weber (Vampires Suck), Tom Ainsley (Versailles), Erik Valdez (Paint It Black) and Dante Basco (Blood and Bone).

Jarhead 3: The Siege is expected to be released – presumably straight-to-dvd – early 2016. Until then, don’t miss the trailer.
