The Best Movie Trailers of the Week: 'Crimson Peak,' 'Pitch Perfect 2' and More Posted: 13 Feb 2015 09:30 PM PST Welcome back to Best Movie Trailers of the Week, a column where we handpick the best new movie trailers that have arrived online over the past week. Crimson Peak I’ve got faith in Guillermo del Toro, but I’ve still been having a tough time wrapping my head around the idea of a house that “breathes, bleeds… and remembers.” However, this very first trailer for Crimson Peak uses stunningly detailed imagery and just the right amount of story to simply suggest that it’s possible without spoiling exactly what Mia Wasikowska’s character will be dealing with in the full feature. Pitch Perfect 2 The latest Pitch Perfect 2 trailer doesn’t really suggest that the sequel narrative will take the Barden Bellas to a... The Last Sci-fi Blog: It's Been a Weird Week for Remake and Reboot News Posted: 13 Feb 2015 08:30 PM PST Neill Blomkamp's Alien Movie Sounds Cool... Until It Doesn't A few weeks ago, director Neill Blomkamp posted mysterious concept art for some kind of Alien sequel online and the Internet lost its collective mind. What we saw was evocative and strange: Ellen Ripley, looking Sigourney Weaver's age and armed to the teeth, Michael Biehn's Hicks, miraculously arrived (but looking worse for wear), and the "Space Jockey" ship, relocated from the desolate LV-426 and into a mysterious complex of some kind. The questions came fast and furious. What is this thing? Could this get made? It was an exciting and bizarre prospect. Here is a sequel to Aliens, not a sequel to Alien: Resurrection. Heck, this movie, based on its concept art alone, seemed to... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
The Best of Samuel L. Jackson's Hair in Movies Posted: 13 Feb 2015 07:45 PM PST Samuel L. Jackson seems both willing and eager to take risks when it comes to choosing roles. While he could hardly be mistaken for anyone else, he also rarely looks the same from one film to the next. His newest film, Kingsman: The Secret Service, for instance, finds him dressing like a teenager. Because of this tendency, Jackson’s career has featured some of the greatest hairstyles known to man. Here are some of the best. The Avengers If Samuel L. Jackson has a signature hairstyle, this is it: no hair at all. You can’t really go wrong. Hair-loss issues don’t really matter when you look so cool without. Jackson also used this look as Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequels, though he didn’t have such cool facial hair in those. The... This Guy Wins Valentine's Day by Turning His Girlfriend into an Animated Disney Princess Posted: 13 Feb 2015 06:40 PM PST If you really want to do something special for your valentine this year, the key is to make it personal. Don't just hand her cards featuring the Disney princesses in romantic scenes, even if he or she really, really loves Disney animated movies. Instead, take a tip from the guy who got artist Dylan Bonner to draw him and his girlfriend in those scenes. Just maybe don't completely copy his idea. The guy is Redditor "BrianDangerFlynn," and he shared the following five images and the one above, in which a cartoon version of his valentine fills in for Rapunzel from Tangled, Mulan from Mulan, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Jasmine from Aladdin and Ariel from The Little Mermaid (twice). The guy had himself inserted into a few of... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
'RoboCop' Star Joel Kinnaman Touted to Replace Tom Hardy in DC's 'Suicide Squad' Posted: 13 Feb 2015 05:26 PM PST From RoboCop to... supervillain? According to several sources, including Latino Review and The Wrap, RoboCop star Joel Kinnaman is in talks to replace Tom Hardy in DC's upcoming supervillain-stacked Suicide Squad. If negotiations with the actor are successful, Kinnaman will play Rick Flagg, the reluctant leader of the group comprised of nefarious supervillains assembled to take on secret suicide missions for the United States government. The film, which is part of a new era of DC Comics-based movies (including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League) will also star Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Cara Delevigne (Enchantress) and Jared Leto (Joker). For fans it's... Read More This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |

It's Official: 'Frozen' Is Becoming a Broadway Musical Posted: 13 Feb 2015 04:30 PM PST Next month fans will have a chance to reunite with their favorite Frozen characters on the big screen when a new short film titled Frozen Fever premieres in front of Disney's live-action Cinderella. The short also reunites the same team that worked on the full-length movie, with directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee returning, as well as songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who wrote a whole new song for the returning cast of Anna (Kristen Bell), Elsa (Idina Menzel), Olaf (Josh Gad) and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff). And while a straight-up Frozen sequel will most likely be announced at some point, Disney is already hard at work on the next big Frozen adventure: the Broadway musical. It was inevitable, sure...
